If you're wondering where the +4 comes from when Talogan has no nature modifier, he's asking Nyx for what she knows instead and she has a +4 from her intelligence.

Eeeeh works for me.

Sea lions, much like regular lions, are typical animals nobility chooses to represent them due to their strength and ferocity. Though they don’t seem much different from beasts as far as intelligence goes, they’re actually classified as monstrosities (thus spells like Beast Speak doesn’t work on them). While individually dangerous, wild sea lions are deadly effective pack predators and can often be found roaming in packs of 3-6 to hunt down large prey. Finally it is said that sea lion claws can be used to create water breathing potions and their manes are highly effective to keep one-self protected from cold weather and effects especially in the see ocean.

Has Talogan ever been to Red Shard before? If so, what can he expect to find there?

He has. It’s actually a fairly small port town known for its high abundance of red clay deposits and fine pottery (hence the name), but the local thieves guild operates the caravan company there. They’re a legitimate business but so long as you know the right people (and Talogan does) they will discretely delivery your cargo and compensate you in advance for the shipment.

The person you’re looking for is a halfling named Thersa Silvermane. She is a fairly mature halfling woman with silver hair who works as a caravan master. She pays 1/3 the price of your plunder but doesn’t ask questions and can easily make the paperwork to launder the product, ensuring that whatever you sell to her won’t be searched as contraband and more importantly, bring authorities back to you.

Aside from that Red Shard doesn’t really have much of a pirate presence as the guardsmen there are paid off by the thieves guild, so they won’t bother you or your crew unless they start trouble in town.

Does Talogan know any ransom brokers in Red Shard, or knows how to find one there? Also, would I be correct in thinking that Red Shard doesn't have a library?

Thersa can deal with your “prisoners of war” though she charges a fairly flat rate of 50 gp per head, since she can’t garuntee to contact the elves missing family members. Otherwise you can wait until you find a port with a larger network of blackmarket traders.

Also the only place with books would be Red Town’s mayor house which for obvious reasons isn’t open to the public.

How much could Talogan potentially get for the elves if he holds out for a better deal?

Depends on who the broker knows, but you'd expect at least maybe 100 each, maybe more if they're actually important like a captain or such, but none of these elves were the ship captain.

Out of curiosity, how fast is Talogan's ship?

At the moment, about 2 knots, possible 3 if Kulee catches a good wind.

Quick question, how long will it be before the crew start expecting Talogan to hand out their monthly wages?

About five days. It's been pretty slow going recently, this is really your biggest haul this entire month. Most the other raids were on fishing vessels that never really put up a fight.

Also, how much food does the crew go through in a day?

Without rationing, about ten pounds each, except Nyx who can live off six pounds. This includes things like meat, fruit, and water, whether from grog or actual clean water. Using my unit system, the crew eats up one unit worth of collective food supplies a day. If you enforce rationing, they can survive on one unit of supplies for three days, however at the end of the third day we will have to roll a con save to see how well they’re holding up on limited supplies. It’s a fairly low DC (13) obviously outside influences can make this harder or easier, such as the presence of an actual chef who can make limited rations more nutritious, or spoiled food which will make the DC harder and yield worse results upon failure.

So a unit a day or a unit every 3 days plus a con save. Alright. I believe I have enough food to last the trip without needing a save. I recall you saying the trip would take 2 days yes? So that means two units of food have been used up. I shall update my inventory.

Edit: Also you mentioned in his trivia that Kulee makes an excellent fish soup. Does he by any chance count as an actual chef?

No, as Kulee makes a nice fish soup but that actually requires him using an excessive amount of the food supplies to make said fish soup. It'll be good if you were to say, host a dinner on your ship and want to offer something more palpable than dried meat and hardtack, but otherwise no his ability to make soup doesn't cut costs for feeding the crew.

Would Talogan be able to easily gauge Thersa's current mood? If so, does it look like she's willing to speak with another customer or does it seem like she needs a break before more business?

She seems nonpluss right now, like a woman who’s just doing her job. If you had to guess the previous ship were honest merchants do nothing exciting there. You know that Thersa enjoys bargaining with plundered loot since she makes a decent coin from them.

Would you mind updating the stat blocks of those who have replaced their leather armor with scale mail when you have a free moment please?
