The rules of the Black Iris Society are simple and you have been told to follow them at all costs, no matter the stakes, no matter the situation. You have sworn yourself to the Society, though it's not as if you had a choice.
You were born into this.

It's hard to remember a time before the formation of the Council of the Iris and it's even harder to remember a time when the King hadn't ruled over you or your people. After seeing years of slaughter and freak-shows, he decided that your people were incapable of living among humanity. This was a decision agreed upon by the Council of the Iris, a decision that shaped the way you and your people would forever interact with the society around you. You were safer this way, you were happier.
Yours were the ones who they burned at the stake, who they belittled for your gleaming yellow eyes, who they chased with wood and cloves of garlic. Humans had never been understanding and your King sought to save you from them by shielding you from them. It was a very long time before your King allowed you and yours to integrate back into society sworn beneath the Laws of the Iris. You have lived this way for as long as you can remember, right alongside the humans, never revealing, always careful.
It was not until recently that you had ever felt threatened. An uprising has started to form with a small group of humans. These humans call themselves the Council of the Hunters and your King has been unnervingly silent about all of this.

This roleplay here will be taking a lot of heavy inspiration from L.J Smith's Night World, however it's got it's own storyline and there's no soulmate nonsense but credit where credit's due, I guess. You'll be playing either as a supernatural creature or a human hunter in this roleplay, it'll take place in a modern New York. The first scene will have us at a masquerade ball called together by the King.
You know, if this actually goes anywhere. Looking forward to seeing if anyone's interested.
