How long do you usually write?
Between one and several paragraphs depending on the needs of the scene.
Do you enjoy writing collaborative posts for things like conversations, combat, etc.?
Yes! But if it speeds up posting or we need to cut down the size of a collab I'm okay with individual posts. The collabs sometimes help with flow though.
Is grammar and depth of writing important to you?
I always try my best to have both passable grammar and enjoyable levels of depth in my writing! That said, I'm not really a hardliner for it in other people or a grammar nazi. As long as the people I'm writing with are fun it's all good.
Are there any writing subjects you particularly enjoy exploring?
Character growth and solid, story-and-character driven personal development over time. I also enjoy characters confronting and dealing with morally gray situations and changing from them, put a high priority on interactions between players and love writing action sequences!
Investigations, politics, plus planning and counter-planning style intrigue are also favorites of mine but less likely to come up with this character.
Is there anything you really dislike and want to avoid like the plague?
Not really just ask me first, although I would prefer to avoid long stretches of time writing completely by myself as I feel it defeats the purpose of a roleplay for me. As usual auto-hitting, godmodding and dictating my character's reactions for me in any way without my consent are awful.

Do you have any short-term or long-term goals with this character?
Short Term: I wanna establish Mid's character, who and what she knows and get her involved in the overall world! I'd like to get to have some interactions, figure out who her Master is and what their relationship is like and who else in the Jedi Order she might know and their relationships.
Long Term: I'd like to Mid survive and grow in both internal character and power. Maybe make it to Knight or even Master. She's fairly close to an innocent blank slate at this point and I can't wait to see how the story and her role in it, the decisions she makes and the characters she interacts with shape her over time! I want to get a sense of progression and development with her and a feeling like I'm helping to shape my own corner of the world and the other characters in it! Most of all I'd like to use her to contribute to this RP and help us all to have a fun time! Hopefully that's not too ambitious!

Short description of the Jedi.
Mideo is slightly short for her age at 4'10" and pale white all over except for straight ebony black hair complete with Padawan's braid and vibrant orchid purple eyes. She might be mistaken for a doll at first glance if it weren't for the constant sense of hyperactive motion she gives off and her habit of getting covered in scrapes and small bruises. She's actually all wiry muscle gives off a feeling of barely restrained energy and compact power. It's an impression that only gets stronger when anyone figures out how heavy she is for her size thanks to her typically dense Iridonian bone structure. Her face is bare of tattoos, but she usually has a crooked little smirk of excitement on it that widens out into a huge pointy-toothed grin whenever something exciting is happening.
Her uniform is the typical Padawan light brown, but usually covered in dust or dirt and slightly worn and torn. She usually keeps a number of flowers tucked or pinned into her uniform for color or else garlanded around her neck or (to distract from her youthful lack of horns) crowned on her head or woven through her hair. Because of a bad experience with psychometry, she typically wears gloves whenever possible.

Basic Talents
Plant Surge - Mid became fascinated with plant life ever since she arrived on H'Ratth, since plants were exceedingly rare on her mostly desert-like home-world of Iridonia. Her instructors slowly discovered that she had a knack for tending to and growing the healing herbs in the Academy Gardens that was more than mundane and that picked plants tended to stay fresher if she was caring for them. Since then her talent has been cultivated to the point where she can sprout seeds in about a minute, catch herself with vines or branches when falling and slightly shift undergrowth to aid her movement or mildly inconvenience someone else's. She has a good grasp on the basics of the limits and eventual upper ceilings of her power and the general concepts behind it.
Psychometry- Mid has a natural talent for psychometry, discovered fairly early on in her days as a Youngling when she started telling 'stories' about some of the objects she picked up that contained small pieces of facts and events she had know way of knowing. Since this was a rare but possibly dangerous gift, her teachers both encouraged and supervised her development of it very closely. Now she can get faint impressions off of some mundane objects or quick flashes of scenes from highly emotionally charged ones. She has no control over which memories she sees but can control when she gets these insights except when touching extremely emotionally charged objects.

Basic Training
Survival Skills - Mid specializes in herblore and botany of all kinds, but only has actual survival training and familiarity with jungle biomes like H'Ratth, Desert Biomes, and Arctic Biomes.
Acrobatics - Thanks to constant training and help from The Force Mid is a very skilled acrobat for her age. She sometimes performs acrobatics for fun when she's bored in addition to maneuvering through environments or in fights.
Republic History - Surprisingly has a decent command of the basics of the Republic's history and principles though she'll mostly focus on battles when asked unless her attention is deliberately focused a few times.
Intermediate Talent
Martial Arts - The one thing Mid has the most natural aptitude for and experience with is the martial arts. Even in her early childhood on Iridonia, she'd sparred and play-fought with her siblings for at least a year before the Jedi Order found her. She took to the supplementary training they provided along with lightsaber combat like a natural and mixed lessons from the Order with the rough and harsh memories of her earliest childhood sparring sessions to form a uniquely energetic but painfully efficient combat style. Inexperience in serious combat plus her small size and youth are her main limiting factors.

Increased Pain Tolerance - Because of her Zabrak biology Mid has a naturally high tolerance for pain and can endure through punishment or injuries that would break the resolve of other beings and shrug off non-debilitating injuries relatively easily
Highly Dense Bone Structure - Due to her Zabrak biology, Mid's bones are abnormally dense and durable compared to those of other species. Because of this they rarely break except under great strain and she has extra protection against injuries from blunt trauma and to a more limited degree cutting and piercing trauma as blades are more likely to stop at or glance off her bones. The extra weight and hardness of her extremities also gives her an advantage in unarmed combat as she can both impart more force with each strike and put more strain on herself without breaking bones.
Dual-Heart Circulatory System - Gives Mid greater endurance over extended periods of exertion and allows her to catch her breath quicker.
Excellent Memory -When actually feeling engaged by a subject Mid has demonstrated a gift for rapid memorization and detailed recall. She's normally too unengaged in her tasks to make good use of it but has memorized facts about subjects of interest to her including botany both the technical and philosophical aspects of lightsaber combat and martial arts with unusual ease.

Haiki Benara - In infancy and early childhood she was naturally close to her twin brother. However the two haven't seen each other in over six years, his fate is completely unknown and it is likely she barely remembers him.
Other than that no major bonds or associates, as she is just beginning her life as a Padawan under Jedi Knight Airus Vel Aath.

Among this most recent batch initiates, Mideo Benara has given us the most trouble. She is endlessly energetic, constantly thrill-seeking and singularly stubborn. She responds poorly to traditional teaching methods and can rarely sit through a lecture without an outburst. However, positive reinforcement via combat lessons or herb-gathering expeditions have proven especially effective at getting her to study outside this purview. On the rare occasions where she does put in effort, she absorbs information like a sponge. She is prone to recklessness, mischief making and roughhousing but is popular among the other initiates for her adventurous and friendly nature, to our occasional frustration. Nevertheless some good has come of this as she often encourages, protects and supports her fellow initiates and has become particularly skilled at drawing confidence out of her more timid associates.
Overall, she responds best to individualized lessons and teaching her has been both maddening and rewarding.

Mid is a reckless thrill-seeker, always confident in herself and rarely ever stopping to question the situations she throws herself into. While this could be tempered into admirable boldness with the right Master, any teacher of hers needs to keep a tight grip on her for now. She's a highly intelligent girl, but even this is problematic as she loses interest in most subjects quickly once she feels she's grasped the basics. Her endless hyperactivity makes her impossible to teach in a classroom setting and her stubbornness overconfidence means any respect she gives must be painstakingly earned. She's compassionate and kind, but prone to forming strong individual attachments to others.
Most troubling of all is her eagerness for battle. For now there's no sadism or bloodlust in the girl, but her energetic personality and overeagerness are at their worst during sparring and combat training. A skilled and devoted Master could mold her into a powerful fighter some day, but at its worst this could become a pathway to the Dark Side. She has a phobia of deep waters, though this has been lessened somewhat with great effort.
Physical
Mid has difficulties with swimming due to her dense bone structure.
Dual heart circulatory system makes her especially vulnerable to damage to her hearts, as if one becomes injured or sick the other will quickly become dangerously arrhythmic. After extended periods of exertion she also requires much more food than average.

During her third healing lesson, Mid accidentally used psychometry on the clothing of a soldier who was badly wounded in battle and required agonizing but life-saving surgery. The effects of the memory were highly traumatic. Not only did it set back Mideo's psychometry training, but her interest in healing never recovered. She barely learned anything beyond the most basic of battlefield first aid and showed no interest in developing her skills at healing with the force from then on.

Because of her youth, I've taken it as my responsibility to sit in on this interview and *clears throat* assist Mideo in relating her life story.
Mideo's father Nexu Benara lived in the wastes outside of Malidris and was a manufacturer of the psychoactive drug known as yarrock-
Initiate Mideo, insistently: He was a shaman! All the best yarrock still gets made by shamans!
Typhis, continuing: -and a self-proclaimed shaman of the old Iridonian traditions, yes. Her mother Romi Vokam was a smuggler and occasional pirate who plied her drugs and her work across the various trade routes that flow within range of the planet and its colonies.
Initiate Mideo, with pride: She was the best!
Typhis: The two were business partners and fell in love over the course of years working together. Mideo and a twin brother Haiki were born in 3652 BBY in a cave-and-tunnel complex outside of Malidris, a noted den of criminals of all stripes. The twins were raised mainly among the criminal element for the first six years of their lives with occasional forays out into the wastes or the city.
Initiate Mideo, wistfully: We were gonna be shaman-pirates! Until...
Typhis: Until a raid on the complex by law enforcement and attached Jedi while their mother was away. Nexu Benara fled into the wastes with Mideo's brother Haiki after a brief skirmish and Romi Vokam was tipped off and remained off-world. Initiate Mideo was found by Jedi Battlemaster Sar Den'ii and her apprentice Airus Vel Aath. Upon her repeated claims to be a *slight pause* 'shaman-pirate queen' with magical powers and a demonstration of repeated telekinesis-
Initiate Mideo, cheerful: I threw rocks at their heads!
Typhis: Quite. The two took her in and brought her to H'ratth for training. It took some time for her to adjust, although her father's force sensitivity and shamanic traditions meant that certain aspects of life in the order were not entirely unusual. Apparently, then-Padawan vel Aath had already taught her how to read and write in Basic by the time they separated as well. The possibility of both of her parents and her brother remaining alive and at large were an obstacle at first, but distractions, a safer life and assurances that if found alive her remaining family would almost certainly be imprisoned eventually allowed her to be free of such attachments-
Initiate Mideo, earnest: -The Jedi are honestly a much better family! Everything's peaceful and lush and green, I get to learn tons of cool new things about fighting and The Force and I don't hafta fight anyone over food or run and hide from the police! Plus, we get to do good for people and fight for justice, which is awesome!
Typhis: -But she was still a constant troublemaker. *Typhis visibly shushes Initiate Mideo and continues* Unable to sit still during class or meditation, asking questions out of turn and back-talking, always dragging her fellow students into pranks, late night raids for extra food, play fights that escalated into mock mass battles-
Initiate Mideo, indignant: That was an accurate historical recreation! I was reinforcing the lesson you just finished teaching in class, obviously! Plus I saw you laugh during that time with Jedi Thorne and the itching sap! Anyway I'm not a totally bad student!
Typhis: Yes, she excelled at practical martial arts and lightsaber combat and by ten years old already leaned toward Ataru for the latter due to her naturally high energy levels and ability to integrate hand to hand combat with low-powered lightsaber techniques. Anything related to plants and botany also sparked an unusually academic strain in her as well. We allowed her to tend the gardens and go out while supervised to gather herbs from the surrounding jungle as exercises in positive reinforcement. Along with occasional supplemental combat training as a reward system, she slowly learned to apply herself to her academics.
Beyond mundane skills she eventually displayed a few unusual talents. Those plants that were under her care tended to grow stronger and faster and stay fresh and potent once picked. She also began telling surprisingly accurate stories related to certain objects she picked up, a teacher's walking cane and the lightsaber of Hyrus Thorne, another Jedi in residence here. She plucked details she had no way of knowing about from thin air.
*Initiate Mideo is shushed again* Psychometry and Plant Surging, two unusual talents in one already unusual girl. We cultivated her gifts as best we could and were sure to partner her with any passing Jedi with further knowledge on the subjects, however briefly. Then of course, there were her Initiate Trials-
*Now initiate Mideo attempts to shush Typhis, fruitlessly*- The Trial of Wisdom, she passed easily. It may have astonished our good Jedi Thorne, but Mideo has always passionately believed in the Jedi code and had a gift for memorization, when she applies herself. As for the others-
*More failed shushing from Initiate Mideo* Her Trial of Skill was highly unusual. She took exceedingly long, almost to the point of failing. Not because of a lack of knowledge or ability towards lightsaber construction or any difficulties in Force attunement, but-
Initiate Mideo, unable to contain herself: I just wanted to make the best possible one ever, okay?!
Typhis: Indeed, she agonized over every single component before selection. Her final trial was to arbitrate a case between two wounded soldiers who had started a brawl. Each said the other made the first strike and they were merely acting in self-defense. The fight escalated as comrades joined in until half of the patients capable of throwing a punch or swinging a cruch were involved. Both men were equally passionate about their innocence. Initiate Mideo drew out the decision for some time. She even tried to use her psychometry on objects the two used as improvised weapons. Eventually she punished both soldiers, but insisted on lighter punishments than were recommended.
Initiate Mideo, frustrated: Even tryna feel their pasts there was no way to tell! Anyway, if they wanted to settle something with fists it woulda been one thing. But dragging their friends in and then lying about it meant they were both kinda guilty anyways.
Typhis, amused: We agreed, for slightly different reasons. After that, we contacted Airus Vel Aath to be her Master, in hopes that her psychometry might be of use to him in the field and that his erm, more academic nature would encourage her to be more patient and studious while his abilities in battle would strike the correct balance to encourage her as we have.
He's away on assignment currently, but we've made arrangements.
Padawan Mideo: Yeah! Watch out everyone! I'm gonna be the best, most noble Jedi ever and pretty soon it'll be me in the legends and battle histories!
