The prestigious Academy of Silvergate, the centre of the small city of Rindou, upon the island Seidoujima.
Silvergate Academy is a prestigious school, possessing grades from primary through to university years. Having stood there for many decades already, it is known simply as an exclusive institution to the modern world. Behind it’s many strange or bizarre screening processes, is the simple truth that this Academy is a school for magic and the furthering of martial and academic skills alike, in not just the greater modern world, but also the magical world of Arcanis Mundus.
Within the halls of Silvergate Academy lies a portal to the magical world, wherein students can traverse semi-freely, with obvious regulations in place, however many excursions within the Academy are conducted within the magical world itself. The students of this Academy come from not just the world around it, but from the magical world too, as such the demographic of the Academy is quite unique.
It's to be noted that everything in here is just for the sake of examples, for now. A reminder that anything new will get added to it. Players are also free to pick up anything that already exists for their character to learn, given they fulfil requirements.

I've added a somewhat loose guide to how strong to make supporting characters, if anyone has need of that. It'll also be in the Character Sheet section as well.
Character NPC tiers
Just note that players can also be placed into these tiers, but they’re mainly for use for NPCs, and a general indicator of how strong they are. Next to them are the average stat ranks they possess, not necessarily their maximum.
Sickly (F-E) - These are characters that are in bed, and unable to fight, or at least, fight effectively. Normal (F-C) - Characters that are of normal ability, in context of what they are. For example a mage who is of normal tier, might be stronger than a non-magical person who is of normal tier. Skilled (E-B) - These are characters that are for example, top of their class in magic, or an athlete level of fitness. Intermediate (C-B) - Characters of Intermediate are… Strong, or at least, the first time you will perhaps see what strength can become. It’s the biggest jump between tiers, and has the widest range, as this is the expected level for most characters fairly lengthy into the RP. Advanced (C-A) - The advanced class is where you’ll expect a lot of teachers within the schools to be. Powerful in their own right, but nowhere near that of a master. Master (A) - The master class is where you would expect certain famous people to be at, especially if they are known to be skilled in what they do. Grand Master (A-S) - The Grand Master are ones who are so powerful, they are guaranteed to have stories of them, whether or not they are alive today. Legendary (S and higher) - The legendary are proven legends, alive or dead, the stories of them are so exaggerated, it seems impossible, however the difference between a Grand Master and a Legendary class, is that the exaggerated legends are true, and that their power is until meeting them, completely unfathomable, or even is still unfathomable even after witnessing it first hand.
@Ithradine I should perhaps mention elves are exceedingly rare, there are in fact lore reasons for it too. I have yet to draft a race list with full description.
Anyways, generally, classic fantasy races are considered ancient races, this includes Dwarves, Elves, Fae, Merpeople, and so on. They have left behind a large amount of ruins and such though. Not that they cannot be played as, just don't expect me to let you if someone else already is one.

Beastkin
Arcanis Humans and Beastkin can come in 2 main dispositions, magical or physical, and sometimes neither, or even both in very rare cases. If neither they're essentially Earth Humans.
Earth Humans are magically the weakest but have a better flow of ki, and so they're more talented at martial arts.
Beastkin on the other hand are part-animal species, who can transform, but by transforming their external control of magic becomes limited or even disappears, but usually depending on their animal side, they obtain some rather insane benefits for combat or otherwise.
You can get rather creative with their traits. For example one of the teachers is a Snow Leopard Beastkin, and he has a spell that creates a sheer cold zone that can affect even the caster, but being of a snow leopard variety of beastkin, he can just transform and be completely impervious to the cold.
For the start I'd like initial players to make characters of Highschool age, that being about 15-19, generally. As the RP goes on, other age ranges and professions will become available as the power scaling ramps up.
The ruling is you will only have one MAIN character. I can allow this to change ONCE. Your main character is basically the one you will keep track of in terms of stats and skills, and all of that. You can make as many supporting characters as you'd like, and you can even put your future Main character inside your supporting cast if you'd like.
Personality: William believes in the principles of hard work and freedom to enjoy the fruits of said hard work but is easily angered by what he sees as the misuse of freedom, which can lead him to some hypocritical actions. The hand he’d been dealt, the hand he’d been given, he plans to use it the best way he can, and overcome those who stand in his way. Upon finding out that Magic was real, and that there was a secret 'Magic World' existing in parallel to Earth, he was much more eager now to learn what he could. The possibilities seem limitless and he knew he can pursue them if he just worked enough...
Backstory: William was born in Chicago, Illinois, to a loving, caring family. He had school, he had friends, he had chores and books and cartoons. Then someone showed him the wonderful world of Anime, and his life changed forever.
Life grew brighter and more colorful for him, even as he cultivated more of his existing skills. He found confidence in himself to push on despite difficulty and even asked for placement in advanced classes when it was clear that he can prove himself more intelligent and hardworking than other folks. William wanted to prove himself better than other kids, to be like the protagonists he saw on TV and Crunchyroll.
But life was not just about proving oneself better, it was also about being kind and loving and liking other people and earning the right to be liked back. And so he stood up to bullies, got beaten up a few times, and learned to give an equal fight on other occasions. He also realized he was bisexual, liking both boys and girls and eventually dating both on and off. But he didn’t let that distract him from his search for excellence.
Then he received his invitation to Silvergate Academy, and after finding out that his education was fully free - A scholarship with as few strings attached as possible - His parents allowed him to go. It was a new challenge in his life, a new chapter. And so, he arrived at Seidoujima Isle and Rindou City, where Silvergate was. And his life changed a second time.
For when he entered Silvergate’s halls, he found out that Magic was real and he can wield it, but that he was much weaker than those who actually had lived in the Magic World and have been trained in it longer than he was. The news was somewhat deflating, especially to someone who was branching out to conventional fantasy, but after a period of sadness, William decided to take a Magic course along with Academic and Martial Arts courses anyway. He would not let being 'untrained' keep him from doing what he loved, nor would he ignore his strengths either. Either he had mastery of his environment or his environment would defeat him!

Independent:
Pledge of Friendship - By shaking hands and making a genuine pledge of friendship (No, it’s not required that you haven’t shaken hands before), one can get two benefits:
1.) An extra 10 points in the friend’s highest stat, unaffected by Stat Caps. These stack if multiple friends have the same highest stat.
2.) Access to a weaker version of the friend’s Independent, for example, a pledge with a Beastman friend gives you a weaker transformation.
Drawback: These benefits work only as long as the other person regards you as a friend, meaning that if they perceive you as taking advantage of them, they can cut William off from the benefits of their ‘friendship’.

Techniques:
Triangular Footwork - William treats his feet as two points of a triangle, and his next step as the triangle’s third point. Thus, he is able to prevent his feet from colliding with each other should he have to evade an attack, a mundane but powerful advantage especially when enhanced with Ki.
@Letter Bee Mainly the logic of your character's motivations, and the independents need adjustment. We'll be discussing that. Also your minor and major skills will need adjustments too.

I'd also like to take this chance to just say that minor and major skill costs have not yet been decided, but they are certainly not 1 for 1.
I ask you wait a bit for that while I figure out how to class them. For now you can really just say what spell/spell tree/arts you'd like to know.
The likely costs though off the top of my head is...
Learning a new Major Skill costs 3 skill points
Upgrading a Major Skill costs another 3 points and increasingly more with each level to a certain point.
Learning a Minor Skill new or old or upgrade will always cost between 1-3 depending on the Minor Skill.
The idea is it'll be easy to obtain numerous Minor Skills to enhance your Major Skills, but Major Skills do open you up to many new varieties and even combinations.
Using the above reference, perhaps try to adjust your starting Skills based on just those, while I fine tune it.
@Anakin Vampires would be an Independent. Lower level normal vampires are mainly what you'd expect, but as you can also expect, there are the true vampires as well. If you wanna know more about them I can tell you in a DM.
This RP has arcs, one of which delves into that topic, so I'd rather people don't learn of it until it's time to.
