YC is a teacher who just landed a pretty well paying job at a private high school. She's been chatting with some of her new colleagues and has heard about the best and the worst students that she is about to meet. MC is a fine example of the latter category. Described as part arrogant attention seeker, part mean girl and all trouble. YC is actually a little surprised to find that MC isn't really that bad, sure she's rough sometimes, and gets detention so consistently that it's almost like she planned it. But YC sees the potential good student in MC. And that's what starts the whole troublesome affair.
Too curious and too clever to just let MC continue on the path she is on, YC starts to spend time trying to get to know and help MC become a good student. But MC is completely resistant. After some frustration and seeing some odd signs in MC's behavior, she starts to investigate her home life.
It turns out MC is living in a truly hellish environment at home. Her wealthy widowed mother has been mentally, emotionally, and sexually abusing her, forcing the girl to be her servant and lover, and rarely giving her any peace.
YC wants to save MC and report her Mother, but MC warns her that she wouldn't do anything but make her torment even worse, not only is no one willing to believe that a mother would do things like that to her own child, but this mother has the money and connections to make people who cause trouble disappear. She even confesses to YC that she believes her mother had her dad murdered for his money.
