An experienced roleplayer, with several years of gaming under my belt. I've played tabletop, online postal, forums and large-scale games for more years than I'm comfortable admitting, preferring serious, committed gaming alongside small groups of mature players. I've found Deep and emotive posts far more engaging, but understand when simple short, concise posts are needed to keep the action flowing.
Complex action roleplaying, with well designed and defined system allowing the stats and figures to flow around the gaming is better than ones which leave too much upto players declaring anything they can think of as absolute canon, but also avoid anything which requires players to spend too much time trying to work out maths problems, rather than declaring actions within the limits of their characters and the worlds they inhabit and having them happen.
I prefer settings where technology trumps magic, including (but not limited to) cyberpunk, steampunk, space opera, alien worlds, and high technology.
