This is my idea for a roleplay, let me know if your interested.
The concept is Fractured, the fictional setting is an alternate timeline of the real world. The year is 2018, and the world is akin to the real world. Except for one difference in January, The "Event" a massive global disaster that struck the world in January of 2018. One that united the global populace against one common problem, one consistent denominator of destruction that struck the globe. Millions of citizens across planet earth were suddenly disintegrated akin to Thanos's somber snap in the end of Avengers Infinity War.
Without warning or reason millions of humans were disintegrated around the world. Several explanations were given to explain the horrific destruction of life including the rapture, other religious events, alien invasisons, advanced biochemical attacks etc, but there was no answer. Cars crashed, pilots vanished, buses lost drivers, houses burned down where a disintegrated resident was cooking, and a four day global blackout occured within an hour of the disintegration. Now a month later from the chaos something worst happens, the people that vanished they all return out of thin air. Some return to fractured lives, loved one's killed as a result of them vanishing behind the wheel, others who commited suicide, others who've changed locations, etc, regardless those who were gone return to a world dealing with the chaotic ramifications of their loss. They have no memories except for an ultimate pain as they were literally incinerated alive. The world quickly comes to find out those who've returned have came with mysterious gifts, abilities that could only be described as superhuman abilities the likes of X Men mutants or DC's own league of heroes.
Set five months after the initial incident, four months after the Return. The world is reeling fracutred over the populace that vanished without a trace, and returned 40 days later with superhuman abilities. Many of the Fractured as they were called have tried to integrate back into their real lives, many have not manifested powers as of yet, and many think they wont. Regardless as you can imagine while not nearly as serious as the chaotic incineration of millions, the manifestion of superhuman powers has caused destruction and even the loss of some lives. The world is racing to figure out what to do, how to handle their superhuman populace, the validity of these powers, how powerful are they, what people have them, do any who were not incinerated have them, who allwas incinerated, who was behind the event, what does it mean for the world and the future of humanity? Find out in the world known as Fractured that we build together, a real life copy with small difference's such as politicians, major events, and how everything pulls together.
Characters can play a variety of roles, civilians and law enforcement. Currently the United States is putting together a joint task force including FBI, CIA & Department of Homeland Security working with the U.S Military on a secrete off the grid mission to scower the populace for those imbued with abilities from the Incident, and relocate & detain them in secrete holding to determine their threat level to the population, The Republican Party has control of the White House & are pushing a Registration Act to form a census/national database of superhumans within the country, China has issued a mandatary Government Registration Act for their methumans, and Russia has similary issued a similar program with hints of forced coercion with their existing military or perhaps the creation of a methuman military force. The American Joint Task Force is called Eagle, a name based on the premise of these agencies pulling their resources together to examine America with a bird's eye view & restore order to the world as it plunges into enhanced powered chaos.
