Laura yawned and looked up at the clock; only six more hours until closing time. It wasn't that she didn't like working in the library, in fact, she didn't really know what it was. She just felt like today wasn't going to go well. Like something bad was going to happen. But she decided to put that to the back of her mind, there is such a thing as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Laura hummed to herself and she walked through the rows, checking everything was in place. Fiction - G, H... she pushed a trolley filled with recently returned books. She stopped and picked one up, putting it into the right spot. The job seemed dull, but normally the days went by quickly, and it wasn't difficult. She also loved books, it was an obviously easy choice.
She glanced at the clock once more, he was late for work, again. Laura sighed heavily, pushing the trolley to the end of the row and going back to her desk. There was only one person in the library, but it was still early. Normally she saw about thirty people a day, in and out. She checked the book logs on the computer, sometimes she'd look through the people and the books they would take out, figure out their stories. Just a game she played to pass the time.
Laura yawned.
