You seem to be an ordinary person. Well, ordinary enough at any rate. But 19 years ago, when you were a child, you were involved in a series of cutting-edge scientific experiments. All were highly unethical. They sought to make you something more than human. After two years the experiments were deemed a failure, and something was done to you to make you forget. Forget you did, and leaving wonderland behind, you had the opportunity to forge a normal life.

Years and years passed, and the things that happened to you were so forgotten that they might as well have not happened. You lived a normal life; perhaps you were exceptional in some ways, but nothing that hasn’t been seen before. But as it turns out, the experiments you underwent weren’t considered a total failure by everyone. Some things just take time to mature.

It was spring of the year 2000, when you received a strange package in the mail. It was a small black case with a brief letter attached. The letter said that someone special had taken a great interest in you, and that if you were able to complete the test included in the case, there would be a special reward for you. You may not have even bothered with such an obvious prank, but if you did look inside, you would have found something very odd. It claimed to be a test, but the instructions were sparse and the requirements were simply impossible. Something like asking you to solve a puzzle box with no solution, or to enter a 4 digit number correctly with no hints, or asking you to separate a pair of metal rings that were solidly joined without harming either.

A farce, right? Wrong. Two weeks later, federal agents showed up at your place and took you into protective custody with a few others. They told you that there’s been an unexplained terrorist attack, and that the perpetrator left a note with all of your names on it. It said that only one of you would be able to stop the next attack.

The agents do want to protect you, but considering that they have very little to go on and lives are at risk, they want to have you cooperate with the investigation.

About me: My name is Olive. I am a longtime role player. I first played on role players guild more than 10 years ago. Most of my games have been elsewhere since then. I’m an experienced roleplayer, but I’m just coming off a break. I want a game that we can jump into quickly - something that won’t require too much commitment. I’m looking for relatively fast paced game - a few posts per week. Minimum of one paragraph, but with no compulsion to do much more than that.

When I’m not roleplaying, I’m a computer scientist and a spiritualist. I’m excited to meet some new people and see where this goes. c:

Character Sheet:

Name:

Age: (Probably between 24 and 31)

Skills: What can you do? What have you learned in the past 19 years? What jobs have you worked?

Personality: What are you like to be around? How do you cope with stress? How realistic are you in your thinking? (Note: I’m looking for at least a little bit of incredulity to start with. You might be fanciful in your thinking, but you haven’t actually seen much out of the ordinary. Yet.)

Impossible Test: What was the test you received in the mail, and how did you react to it? You can try to link it to the next section as well if you like. I’ll help you come up with something if you need me to.

What did the scientists want to do with you as a child / What kinds of special abilities would you like to develop?: They probably would have been related to enhancing your capacity in some respect, making you into a weapon, or giving you some kind of seemingly supernatural power. Keep this part short, and don’t feel too bound to it yet. This is part of the mystery after all, and we might decide to change directions with your character later. I’m just looking for some initial ideas about what you expect your character to be uncovering about himself.

Hello, I really like the look of your project! I hope you don't mind a newb ^-^

Name: Mackenzie Ryan

Age: 23

Skills: Mackenzie has held down a wide variety of dead-end, no-qualification jobs that taught her little more than the 'right' way to fold a t-shirt, but it has afforded her the ability to pay for her own schooling, and she is on her way to becoming an electrician. Education aside, she's naturally athletic and agile, with good coordination and spacial awareness.

Personality: Mackenzie has little hesitation saying exactly what's on her mind for someone of her diminutive stature. She's loud when she's happy, she's loud when she's angry, she's loud when she's bored. Quiet means sad, depressed, or self-conscious ... or UNconscious. She's kind and patient, smart and sweet in her own loud way, happy to treat anyone with respect until they cross her invisible red line and become utter trash. She's not quick to trust, but once she does she's warm and affectionate, and has a lot more trouble saying anything negative or critical.

Stress makes her doubt herself, makes her quiet and brooding. Instead of thinking of what she could do to fix what's wrong she focuses on what failures or lapses got her into the stressful situation. She will eventually come around and start being useful again; you can only mope at the bottom of a hole for so long, but it's certainly a deep, dark, moody hole while she's in it. It IS the end of the world after all, every time.

She's got a very practical imagination, that is to say ... she doesn't work in a world of impossible and possible. When it comes to day to day reality she deals with what is in front of her. She's no more qualified, or interested, in quantifying all that is impossible as she is all that is possible, and figures there's no point ruling out unicorns until you absolutely have to.

Impossible Test: In the case were two items; A fist-sized ball of tungsten, and a stone cube with a domed recess in one side, and a small hole in the bottom. The instructions were simple but impossible; get the ball into the cube without breaking the cube. After pouring over the cube for a long time, getting more and more frustrated, Mackenzie stuffed it into a drawer to avoid throwing either heavy piece of the cryptic puzzle. Over the course of the week she tried to find similar puzzles on youtube, and sometimes thought back to it in frustration, but being unable to think of a solution she mostly left it alone.

What did the scientists want to do with you as a child / What kinds of special abilities would you like to develop?: The power to instantly superheat the surface of her body, both locally and entirely, basically turning her into a little sun without all that grabbidy/ a hooman lightsaber.
