So is anyone planning to participate in National Novel Writing Month? While I've been aware of it for several years, this will be my first time doing it.

For those unaware, National Novel Writing Month (or Nanowrimo) is a challenge throughout the month of November to start a novel and write at least 50,000 words.

I've rough plotted out my novel and am really excited for it. It's in three days and I'm hyped. Is anyone else going to have a go at it this year?

I'll probably have a go. This will be my sixth or seventh; 1667 words a day isn't the easiest thing, but it's also great practice. Plus, crossing that finish line feels great!

I'll definitely give it a go, this year. I'll fail, but dammit will I try.

I'm in. I think this will be the 12th or 13th time for me. I can't remember anymore. I get 50k every time, but I'm a planner. I have my outline and ideas ready to go. I just have to let the characters speak for themselves and work on transitions from scene to scene.

This is going to be my first year since 2014 that I will be skipping NaNoWriMo. My reasons being many, but probably the largest is that I just don't have the inspiration nor motivation to tackle it this year. As much as it pains me because despite the effects it has me after the fact (several months of writing fatigue), I do like participating in the insanity that is NaNoWriMo. It's a special kind of torture that I usually thrive in, but ever since last year, I just haven't felt that unique inspiration I usually do this time of year; all I feel is dread and stress in regards to it.

But having said all of that, to those who are doing it this year, I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you complete it!

I skipped a year a few years back. You'll thank yourself for the break. Next year you'll probably find yourself eager to do another Nano. When I skipped I had way too much going on and it felt weird not to write, but after a couple days it was like allowing myself to have a vacation. Cheers to ya!
