Someone's gotta be the human at some point. Could imagine at least one being the 'Alliance Liaison' set to the ship, seeing as it's technically on lease.

As the first example I can think of, the whole galaxy basically shut down for several years, no grand empires, no great alliances, no active galaxy wide force... not to mention the crashed technology everywhere, reapers or otherwise, on all kinds of worlds... what if a new, or several new species, who would've been part of the 'next' cycle, made their leaps to the space-age, or may have already been so for a bit but well hidden, or simply small enough not to matter, fringe world, etc. etc. XD

Basically, is there room for new species to appear on the galactic stage, or even just starting to appear among the populations.

For now, I'd say "it's unknown". I've toyed with the idea of that coming into the story later on with other planned story beats, but for characters I'd say we should stick to what we have. It's only been four years since the reaper invasion was squashed, so maybe on a colony or two some new smaller races may remain undiscovered however as for the starting characters of the SSV-Intervention, we'll keep it as is for now. If it does come up as a plot point, I'd be happy to allow a second character to join a new species' ranks though, kind of like the lads and lasses you bring aboard the Normandy throughout ME1.

I'd like to do a Biotic character.

I'm currently debating whether to use the Hanar or Elcor for the SSV-Intervention due to the nature of their ship environment, but maybe as a second character to another primary character I could see that being done. I'll see how things go for the character pool though for the first two races though, sorry not to have any concrete answer yet

Hmm, maybe, if there's a strong reason for the Council to choose them to be on the SSV-Intervention then there's a very slight chance one could end up on it. What I'd say is that the Security Fleet would mostly be open to most council and ambassador based Citadel races that are fit for service. Volus I'll probably allow, but otherwise suspect the usual headliners (Krogan, Human, Salarian, Turian, Asari, Quarian) + batarians + drell. Those outside basically I'd like to introduce overtime, start simple with that "formal setting" for story purposes and have the wider galaxy open up as they head out. Keep in mind the galactic connectivity has only recently reached appropriate levels.

Hoping the wild stuff will come after things have been established so we don't blow our fuses on the more crazy aspects in one go haha

Oh no worries! I'm just curious to see what other kinds of races were playable. I didn't have a specific idea in mind yet. Well except for blasto 2.0 but that's more a fun meme type character to play as.

Alrighty, I'll make some early drafts of the OOC post soonish but I'll try to save it until the end of the week to see if we can save time for those who might be interested but not seen it yet.

Also, just to confirm, I'll most likely put an OOC discord channel on the server I use that hosts OOCs, just cause it's easier to talk on the fly, but I will still have the actual thread OOC be in place for discussion. Are you all okay with this?

Even if there are a low-ish number of humans, I imagine about half of the NPC crew will be human as well to make up for it.
