The day you left and gained your wings
My heart just broke in two
I wish you could have stayed with me
But Heaven needed you.

You left me with the memories
And I love you dearly still
No matter how much time goes by
I know I always will.

You were a very special person
With kindness in your heart
And the love we had together
Grows stronger now we're apart.

I know I cannot bring you back
Although I wish it every day
But a piece of me went with you
The day you went away.

Well, I remember reading this poem once about a parent watching their child riding a bicycle, but it was meant to be symbiotic of the child growing up and thus getting further away emotionally too. I also recall many poems that talk about flags, trying to showcase how willingly people kill and die over nothing more than fabric. But I always find poems to strange, just make your point clear... that or I'm a dim dumb dumb hehehe

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings;
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

I personally like Dante's Inferno which is a poetic piece of literature.
