Hello, I'm looking for a partner for an ongoing urban fantasy/paranormal romance-ish roleplay in thr vein of a grown up Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and The Dresden Files (though it's been forever since I've read the series) with a touch of Neil Gaiman's modern millennial mythology, Terry Pratchetts parodying, and maybe a hint of John Constantine's blue collar warlocking. A slice of life where otherworld knights bearing enchanted swords are taking the slice out of life.

The main character I'd like to portray is Elspeth Greensmith. She's a hedge witch meaning she isn't allowed to join a coven or magical institution, in exchange to practice as a solitary witch. She also can't ever be a priestess of any specific god or goddess, though she isn't allowed to worship deities, she can work with them and other paranormal entities all of the time as long as she doesn't ever bind them to her. In order to practice hedge witchcraft she signed a spiritual contract to never marry or have her own biological children because they would tether her too much to the earthly realm when she must remain neutral to all supernatural beings and realms.

Hedge witches are allowed to go hedge riding which means they can astral protect/teleport to "the hedgegrows" to obtain magical aid or knowledge. The hedgerows are basically the border between the faerie, elemental, demonic and mythological otherworlds. The hedgerows are actually the crown of the cosmic tree of life, with the branches being other realms, the trunk is the mortal human realm, and the roots representing the shadow world and the spring beneath leading to the Underworld.

Elspeth tries to continue being the wise woman of her village, though her village is the gritty downtown urban sprawl in a fictional American city, of a neighborhood still too crime ridden for gentrification.

She helps everyobe in her community from hunting down missing kids and teens who have been glamoured away as changeling tithes to Faerie, provides gender affirming enchantments to help alter appearances of trans or gender fluid youth, and makes intoxicating healing herbs for drug addicts so they at least won't OD on fentanyl laced substances plaguing the neighborhood,  and even helped a furry who dreamed of being an actual wolf get consensually bitten by a lycanthrope pack. Elspeth is protected from most gang violence in her neighborhood because she's given aid to many of the members.

She just has to watch out for warring high priestesses of witch covens trying to recruit her dead or alive, vengeful goddesses demanding her worship of them, lonely gods and goblin kings trying to whisk her away to be their otherworld bride because they cant get Tinder matches, angry single moms who think the herbs she gave their misunderstood teens are fentanyl laced drugs, and the cops mistaking the tattoo parlor/yoga studio/mystic shop/Sorcery Addicts Anonymous meetings she runs out of a shop above her townhouse is a cover for some kind of drug den. When it's really just a cover for the portal of the cosmic world tree.

Anyway, her tattoo parlor is called Full Moon Sleeves, and she mostly specializes in enchanting protective runes and sigils on people's skin.

Elspeth lost her old roommate when the cops raided the basement he raided thinking he was running a meth lab when he was just an alchemist. So how she's putting an ad out for a new roommate. Your character. Preferably of the supernatural variety.

I'd love an ongoing slow burning paranormal mystery and romance. Elspeth probably prefers romances with men, or at least beings who look like men. She is going to be my main character, but I love having a cast of side characters to play of all genders and orientations, if you are interested but want to play a female character as well and double.

I'm an old biddy around here (31). I definitely prefer partners 21+. My post length varies depending on how much description the scene we are writing requires. I usually write at least a paragraph, and always try to give my partners something they can work with and respond to. I'm a stay at home mama and can't promise I can get back any certain amount of time. Some days I can spend all day role-playing, other times I may only be able to respond once, but I also try to respond a couple times a day and give notice if I'm going to be absent.

All I ask is you have a sense of humor, an interest in helping make the plot interesting instead of defending on me to act as game master, that you actually want to write a story and develop a relationship between characters instead of trying to use RP to get off, and that you understand real life comes first.

Let me know what kind of character you'd think would be an interesting roommate for Elspeth, any plot ideas you may have, and the messaging medium you prefer for RP. And I'll do my best to get back to you.
