Aon
The Star of the Aurelian systemGod of Creation, Life, Leadership, and Brilliance
"He shown Light upon the Darkness and upon His Brilliance did our world be born. Graced in the Light of His Presence, life was given to us by the Breath of His Warmth. Embraced we grew but come the day we spurn His Grace and ever distant we became until He gave His Daughters to watch over us. In all our existence we live for His forgiveness and return back to the full Light of His Presence."
-First Book of the Pointed Star
Aon is an orange star supporting the planets of the Aurelian System. Aurelia, the first and found in the Goldilocks Zone for an orange star is much closer to its star than Earth's with Aon being smaller in mass than the Sun and having less heat. An asteroid belt separates Aurelia from the two other planets in the Aurelian System. Myrena is a gas giant just beyond and Lumis is a frozen planet at the edge of the system. In mythological pretext, Aon is imposed as a great male figure with bright orange hair and chiseled, muscular figure. Stories feature his more stoic personality and highlight his strength, intelligence, and creativity in many examples. Many people aspire to be like Aon in their lives whether they be kings, craftsmen, artists, or farmers.
The Scorn of Aon is the religious belief that the peoples of Aurelia, mislead by their Mother Myrena and her brother Lumis, tried to covet Aon's power and position. Disappointed, he cast them away from him and a blissful existence. While he may still watch at a distance, he no longer interacts with Aurelia or walks among the people anymore. His daughters with Myrena, Celene and Celune are instead the protectors of Aurelia, silent sentinels to guide to the people in Aon's stead.

Birthright
An epoch ago, the star Aon had shown rare activity, sending a solar flare towards Aurelia. Directly facing Aon at their high noon, the Isle of Cressia received the full length of the solar flare. Due to the proximity to Aon, the flare had enough radiation to penetrate the atmosphere and the people living on Cressia at the time. Around ninety percent of the island died off from the radiation but those that survived were changed. A wild mutation created a photosynthetic organelle that would readily absorb sunlit energy allowing those that mutated to survive, even thrive off of Aon. From that point on, the survivors of Cressia's flare could utilize that energy stored in their bodies to achieve magical feats.
Descendants of Cressia are usually apparent by their fiery red or orange hair. Anyone with a direct heritage would likely possess the ability to cast magic freely but the further away from direct relation, the weaker the ability would be. The process of casting requires intent focus on a goal that they want the magic to achieve with those of Birthright able to cast even as children if they prove focused enough. Although this has lead to an abundance of misfortunes due to the unrestricted nature and subsequently lead to strict tutoring to those found carrying Cressian blood.
While anyone with a Birthright may be able to cast freely, there is a finite amount of energy stored. The amount of storage varies among differing attributes of the individual such as but not limited to: lineage, weight, height, health, and even genetical luck. Time spent under Aon's light during the day will make any of those with a Birthright feel rejuvenated as their magic is returned to them through photosynthesis.
Runic Inscription
Magic can only stem from those that have a Birthright but was shortly discovered after Cressian rise to power was the usage of a Birthright's blood to empower objects. The blood of a Birthright is photosynthetic, allowing it to live on outside of their body. Thus it makes a perfect medium to carry that magical power to objects and again, are limited to the same finite supply and recharge in Aon's light. As an item ages, it may require touching up with additional Birthright blood.
The process requires several items for objects to be properly empowered. The first is the blood of any Birthright and depending on the wanted potency, can be diluted to reduce the strength of an object's magic. The second is diligent work transcribing a purpose into an object, imparting their full focus into what the object will do. Transcriptions are often simple words or phrases meticulously inscribed with the writer giving their full attention to what they want the object's magic to do. The process requires skilled professionals to achieve correct results and amateurish work can result in accidental mishaps such as explosions.
Once inscribed, an object will only be able to carry out the purpose for which it was inscribed. For example, inscribing the runic word for "Air Step" on a pair of boots will allow the wearer of these boots to step onto air and ascend or descend as if there was an invisible staircase. The wording of the runes might not directly correspond to what the writer's intent was. Another example is if the writer inscribed "Strength" on a set of gloves but focused on strength to lift and carry objects while inscribing. The result would be a wearer of these gloves would be able to have enhanced strength when lifting and carrying objects but not necessarily to punch through armor. Thus objects are usually inscribed with more than one word to help grant them a wider range of purpose.
Runic Inscription is a process that has been taught and contained to the Order of Amber, a sect of the Church of Celene. In the current era, objects crafted with Runic Inscriptions are registered and documented with, ideally, clear paper trails as to who has them. Most are owned by the Church and are utilized in keeping order among the people. Although noble houses that do not have Cressian blood have also been able to obtain Runic items.
Body Inscription
Body Inscription is a contemporary practice in the current era and prohibited by the Church. Although the origins are disputed, shrouded in mystery, the popular theory is that Celunite worshippers stole the Inscription practice and Birthright blood to inscribe the flesh of people to grant them magical powers. The process is much like inscribing an object but instead it is carved onto the flesh instead. The same rules and restrictions apply but the difference in inscribing the body is that the power can't be easily removed from an individual. The tattooed Inscription runs deep into their flesh. Amputation is one method the Church may employ to remove an individual from inscribed power.
