Setting
Aereos is a world of magic. Beasts roam the land and they range in size, but generally are much larger than the typical mortal. Biomes change with the magic that surrounds them creating electrified swamps and naturally burning forests. The mortal races that inhabit this world bend this magic to their will to overcome these giants beasts and deadly biomes.
However, 200 years ago, something else challenged the mortal races for dominion over Aereos and even challenged their gods. None can decipher why or how, but at some point two large hands ripped a hole in reality. The gods were quick in their reaction to smite this strange phenomenon creating what was known as Heavenfall. A brilliant light from the heavens cast down to the hellish portal in an attempt to destroy it, but they only succeeded in making the hands recede leaving but a finger to keep the portal open.
Horrible beasts crawled out of the portal and began to slaughter the inhabitants of Aereos. Yet, it was the creatures that could stand toe-to-toe with the gods that worried everyone the most. In the end the god of order, Akachi, commanded his siblings to seal themselves away with the beings as he thrust his sword into the finger of the goliath turning himself, the goliath, and one of the powerful creatures to stone. These beasts became known as demons and the powerful ones known as demon lords.
If one looks to the sky they will see a blood red moon. This is not the moon, but rather an eternal battlefield where the gods keep the remaining demon lords. All of Aereos fears their return.
Summary
Aereos is in disarray as the attacks from the demon horde increase. Tensions rise on the frontlines as they take on more casualties holding back what demons they can. Requests for aid are sent throughout the country, but tensions among the mortal races prevent that help from arriving. One of the many countries sent this request for aid was the Dominion of Figunia. They wish to respond to the call, but currently they are stuck at war with the Sihibian Tribes to the north and in a political stalemate with their neighbor the Dominion of Caranepicia.
The emperor has started enlisting warriors to aid him in battling the northern tribes. Many nobles and knights responded to the call, but one such noble, Simon, while he had his armies thwarting the attacks of the tribes, sought to resolve the issue in a different means. He has enlisted a few warriors of various backgrounds to handle situations that require a little more finesse than a massive army can provide. Simon Henrich suspects there may be more to this whole situation.
You are the warriors that Simon had his men request. The noble and his men are loyal to the country and seek only the success and prosperity of Figunia. Due to this stance they take, his men may have discovered you pulled off a great theft and offered you a job. They may have heard tales of your adventures and sought you out. You may be a prominent knight and known throughout armies. They do not care about your background as long as they feel you will get the job done. The noble does not make this request empty handed. You are all offered decent wages.
The noble will focus his forces on keeping the tribes off of Fiugnia’s borders, but he cannot guarantee he can keep the other nobles from advancing further into the tribal country. He needs you to bring back evidence that the tribes are willing to back off in order to save them.
Game
- The main system we will be using is DnD 5e. I will allow most any class (homebrew or official), but I will probably have to tweak them to be balanced and thematically correct with our story.
- Point Buy start for those looking to get a headstart. Point Buy Calculator for Assistance
- I use heavy anime and manga inspiration with most things I do, I just find those stories to be more engaging and fun.
- This will be a milestone game. You will start at third level and to learn more you must find teachers that I will place throughout the world. Complete their quests and you will have officially learned their tutelage. (level up).
- The world you’re going to be a part of is highly magical, but this does not necessarily mean you have to be a magic caster. Innately everyone uses magic and the scaling of this world would be 9-A: Small Building level: Characters capable of destroying rooms or entire small constructions such as houses or smaller buildings. So make your character ideas with that in mind. [Heads up: you can still achieve this with basic DnD classes. It's all in the writing.]
- I have never liked that stats were tied to appearance in any game. You may use the stats of any race you want and have whatever appearance you want (again homebrew or otherwise). Also, I may have to buff nerf or tweak, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
I currently have the adventure planned out to a certain benchmark. I now just await players so I can throw twists and turns inside that story. - Finally, I am looking for three players minimum to start.
