What’s my real move? I smile to myself, thinking of all the ways I could tease Nero, or help them accept the feelings they are feeling. I’m just about to walk back out into the bedroom when I hear what they say. I smile brightly despite myself.

I take another moment, partly to compose myself and not let them know I overheard. I step back out and walk over to the bed.

”One red silk pyjama set. Courtesy of Cassiopeia trying to be funny. Oh, and if she says I called demons a nuisance, it’s a lie.” I can’t help the twinkle of mischief in my eyes, though.

His voice stuns me and I’m almost afraid he might have heard me. However I keep my composure as I sit back up, tilting my head and raising an eyebrow at Caden. “Do I want context for any of what you just said?” I ask in bemusement as I scoot towards the edge of the bed and reach for the pajamas in his hand.

I think about saying no and going downstairs to get that other bottle of wine, but I don’t. I sigh. ”Cassi said that all rich people like me who have trysts every night wear silk pyjamas. I thought the notion was silly, but she refused to return them. As for the other thing…” I grin. ”Nic was wondering about the different factions. I told him about demons and angels, saying they were more nuisances than anything. Am I wrong?” I give them the pyjamas and lean in to give Nero a kiss.

”I’m going downstairs to get a bottle of wine. Can I tempt you to have a glass with me?”

I look up and watch him as he talks, let my legs dangle off the side of the bed and kicking them a little as I smirk. “I have never been referred to as a nuisance.” I tell him the lie easily as I take the clothes from him, not expecting the kiss that followed. I blink a couple of times in surprise and the kiss is already over.

“Mm? Klar, Wein klingt gut, ja.” Nodding, I stumble a little over my words as I try to regain my composure, but I don’t think I’m very convincing. “Vielen Dank für die Pyjamas.” My face is warming again and I want to dart under the blanket to hide.

I grinned as Nero became flustered. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who had got affected by the other. ”Alles für dich, mein kleiner Kobold,” I leave them to get changed, or not, and head downstairs to retrieve the second bottle of wine Nic brought and a pair of glasses.

I don’t linger long, making my way back to the bedroom quickly. I pause and knock on my bedroom door, though, a strange concept, but I don’t want to walk in on them and make Nero feel uncomfortable or push my limits in resisting them.

I watch him leave and close the door behind him, a little too stunned to move for a moment before I finally get up to change. The set is a long sleeved top with pants and as much as I don’t want to go overboard with tempting Caden, I only change into the shirt, folding the pants and leaving them on the chair he had thrown his jacket on. I hear a knock and I smirk. “Wer ist es?” I tease. For a moment, I think about hiding somewhere in the room, but I don’t think that will go over as well a second time.

I smile as the door opens. I take in the silk top and their bare legs once again. I chuckle. ”Well, that’s good, 'cause they both have a rather insatiable appetite,” I note.

I walk back into the room and set the wine and glasses on a table I have. I open the bottle and pour us both a drink. I had Nero a glass, clinking it with mine before taking a sip.

”Hast du etwas in den Büchern gefunden?” I ask them to both make conversation and keep me from throwing them on the bed. I walk back to the bed, build up some pillows and sit down to stretch out. I smile at Nero and pat the space next to me.

I laugh lightly and shake my head. “Fremdschämen.” I say as I follow them a few paces behind while Caden opens the bottle and pours the wine into glasses. I happily clink with them before taking a sip, enjoying the depth of flavor. Tempted to dive into the bed, I traipse over to climb onto his bed and take the seat next to him, tucking my legs underneath me.

“Noch nicht, aber ich habe auch keines der beiden Bücher bis zum Ende gelesen.” I say, leaning against him and resting my head on his shoulder. It I get bored while he sleeps, I’ll probably pick them back up again. “Wie ich schon sagte, wurde es mir ohne dich hier unglaublich langweilig.” I tease him before taking another drink of my wine.

I sip my wine and start to rub their arm lightly with my hand. The silk is cool on my hands. I don't seem to mind Nero in silk as much as I do when I'm in it.

Pouting, I give him a playful glare. “Listennnn,” I say, dragging the word out before taking another sip of my wine. “I just kept thinking of popping over to the party and kidnapping you, ait was hard to concentrate.” I tell him while sticking my tongue out at him before throwing him a wink. ”Well, for Nic’s sake, I’m glad you resisted. Although, the next time he comes, around I’m not banishing you to one part of the house,” I inform them. I kiss the top of Nero’s head again. I drink some more wine and fall into an easy conversation with Nero. Eventually, though, I grow tired and yawn.

When he asks, I hop out of the bed easily to go retrieve the books and set my empty glass down. “I’ll be a Braver kleiner Kobold and stay here reading these.” I tell him, throwing myself back onto the bed with the books in hand. ”Unless that’ll keep you up?” I ask. I could take the time while he’s sleeping and go retrieve some things, but I’m rather comfy here.

I watch them bound around the room before returning to the bed. I chuckle and shake my head. ”By all means,” I say. I excuse myself from the bedroom to wash up for the night and change for bed. Changing consists of no shirt and wearing only boxer briefs to bed. To be fair, I normally don’t wear anything to bed, but I decided that wouldn’t be the best idea. I can’t wear a shirt, though. I’m a furnace when I sleep, and it’s maddeningly uncomfortable.

I return to the bedroom and shut the main light off. The bedside lamp remains on, however, for Nero to read by. I crawl back into bed, switching sides with Nero, so they are closer to the light source.

When Caden comes back out, I bite my lip as I stare at his bare chest. He doesn’t give me long to bask in its glory, however, because he’s already crawling back in to the bed. I’m thankful that he positions me closer to the light source. ”Schlaf gut, mein Drache.” I tell him with a smile, tempted to kiss him but knowing he needed to sleep.

I snort at his last comment. “I’ll keep that under advisement.” I say with a giggle. It’s not long until I hear him breathing deeply and soundly, bringing a relaxed smile to my lips. I stay reading for a while, but soon I’m becoming too relaxed. Carefully placing the books by the bedside lamp before turning it off, I wiggle my way under the covers and cuddle up behind Caden, letting him unknowingly be the little spoon. I close my eyes and try sleeping for the first time I can remember.

My purring alarm clocks wake me the next morning. ”Yes, yes, alright. Come along.” I get up and yawn, shuffling to the kitchen to feed and water the alarm clocks. Sometime in the middle of the night, Nero and I change places. I wake to having them in my arms and I smile sleepy. I pull Nero in closer before kissing their neck. ”Guten Morgen,” I mumble onto their neck. I loosen my hold, but don’t let go completely.

I slept rather well. I never had a problem sleeping beside someone, but I feel more rested this morning.

I wake to the smell of breakfast cooking, which is not something I’m used to in my own apartment. I sit up and run my hand through my disheveled hair a few times in an attempt to smooth it down before going into the bathroom real quick. Once I leave my room, I can hear my dad humming in the kitchen, singing along to a mandarin song he’s playing from his phone. When he sees me enter, he passes me a full plate of food with a cheery greeting. I have little bit of a headache from the late night, but I manage a smile and a thanks for him. We sit down at my little table, saying thanks before we both dug in.

I’m pulled tightly into Caden’s arms. My eyes fly open. Did I actually sleep? A shiver runs up my spine and I wiggle in his arms from the kiss and the little whisper of German. ”G-guten morgen.” I manage to say, highly aware of how warm my face feels.
