My fingers continue to rub circles along their knee, and I apply a bit of pressure while I process what Nero shared with me. Their concerns are valid, and with them getting more in touch with their humanity, I want to approach this properly. I like Nero, more than I’ve liked anyone in a while.

”Mine and Cassi’s history put us on a different level than anyone. She and I will always share that, and I’ll always want her in my life as long as she'll have me. But, that doesn’t mean you and I can’t develop something. We already have something developing. I haven’t told anyone that much about my life and family history this quickly before. There’s something here that I’d like to continue to pursue,” I said. I looked over at Nero again. ”I like you, Nero, more than I should, but I’ve never been one to deny myself what I want.”

I whip around to look at him when he says that. "I didn't say that to try and stop this." I say, motioning between us. "Honestly, I don't know why I'm admitting it... but I felt like I should?" I turn down my drive, speeding up a bit now that there is less risk of crashing. I chuckle at Nero’s exclamation, and I nod.

”Yes, it’s called insecurity,” I tell them, mildly amused. ”It’s a valid and completely normal emotion to have, especially when you are in a new relationship or experiencing feelings you aren’t used to. I appreciate you being upfront and telling me. It lets me know how you feel and where I need to approve it.” I park in front of the house. The front door opens, and Henry stands in the doorway, looking tired but smiling.

I get out of the car and walk towards the open trunk. ”Henry, did you wait up for us?” I tease him.

“Of course, sir.”

I chuckle, gather up the bags and move to help Nero out of the car if they aren’t already. ”Well, thank you, Henry. We’ll leave the car out tonight. Go to bed.”

“Sounds good, sir. Ma’am.” Henry turns and bows his head in good night to Nero and I chuckle.

”Ma’am,” I tease Nero.

I stare at the message and the silly little text heart, even though it means nothing, but I still stare at it until my phone darkens. I sigh and roll over, finding a comfortable position. I feel like I’m starting to relax and open up, but my anxiety still rears its ugly head from time to time. I hoped that would settle as time wore on.

I was glad I did a cleanse before going to bed. I’m sure it was one of the only reasons I could fall asleep relatively quickly.

I flush not even realizing that Henry had called me 'ma'am' and look up at Caden from the seat. "I fear I've given you far too much power over me." I say in a small pout. I don't think anyone's seen much other emotion from me outside of pranking and throwing orders around. I swing my legs out of the car and get to my feet, only marginally closer to his height, I'm half tempted to throw a quick kick to his easily accessible shins, but manage to talk myself out of it.

”It’s only fair,” I declare, locking the car as we walk up the steps and into the house. ”I’m not sure you know how much power you have over me, as well.” We walk through to the stairs, and we walk up to my side of the house.

"I have some idea." I say, grinning wickedly as I follow him closely to his side of the house. I'm starting to wiggle more again, now that we've navigated away from my small confession in the car. Giving into the temptation, I throw myself onto Caden's back to ride piggyback style.

After we entered the house, it seemed like Nero’s rambunctious energy came back and they started to fidget even as they walked. Their energy was infectious, and my steps came quicker as we walked down the hallway.

Not quick enough, it seemed as I now had a sudden weight on my back, although light. I turn my head slightly and laugh.

”Too tired to keep walking?” I tease them. ”Should I just tuck you in to sleep in the guest room, then?”

I pout, using the easy access to his ears to my advantage. "Yeah, if you want to regret it." I whisper in his ear. It's hard for me to wrap my legs around his torso without hiking the skirt up, so I kind of just dangle from his neck and shoulders as he continues walking.

I make a small humming noise like I'm actually thinking about it. "I think you should probably put them where I'm going to spend the most time." I say in his ear, half-tempted it give it a little nibble while I'm already there. I getting more fidgety the closer we get to his doors and I jump down to skip ahead of him and throw them open. "Which will be here if that isn't obvious." I say with a grin as I turn to face Caden again.

I stop before Nero releases me and skips to my bedroom door. They throw the doors open and stand there, looking like the picture of innocence. I smile fondly and resume walking.

”Ah, thank you for the clarification. I didn’t want to assume, you see.” My eyes twinkle with mischief, a smirk playing on the edge of my lips.

I smirk, watching as they take practiced steps backwards into the bedroom while I walk forward. Once I am in the bedroom, I move towards the closet.

”Yes, and I would hate to be thought of as an ass,” I declare. I walk into the closet and set Nero’s bags on a lounge chair in the closet. I pull off my jacket and strip off my tie as well, undoing a couple of the buttons on my dress shirt. I toss the items over Nero’s bags and walk back into the bedroom.

I give a small pout when he goes into the closet, but grin once he reappears with less clothing. "But you have no problem with being a smart ass." I tease him with a growing smirk. I traipse around to the other side of the bed, putting it between us. "Luckily, I find that behavior rather attractive." I say with a tilt of my head.

Watching him carefully, I bite my bottom lip while they do the little shifting trick with their eyes. I flash my white eyes at him before I tap my chin and look off to the side like I'm actually having to think about it. "Guess we'll just have to find out." I shrug with a wide smirk as I do a little dance of shifting my weight while watching him. I'm seriously considering trying to teleport around the room just to tease him a little.

A shiver goes down my spine when Nero’s eyes shift to purist white. They aren’t giving in easily, which means I have to give into them. I shift my weight slightly, calculating how I can get to them without leaving the doorway open for them to run out.

”Guess we will,” I say and shift my weight the other way. I drop my arms and jump onto the bed.

It’s a risk, but I don’t want to give up the doorway if I can help it. My eyes remain that of a dragon’s as I track Nero’s movements.

I giggle as I watch him decide his next move, but I’m not expecting him to pounce onto the bed. I let out a little squeal and start to run in the other direction. ”This was a calculated move but boy am I lousy at maths.” I joke over my shoulder as i attempt to escape him. I try my best to give the bed a wide berth, but it’s difficult given just how huge Caden’s bed is.
