I grin at her lopsidedly over her adorable behavior before gesturing towards a shooter game with zombies. “Shall we kill some zombies?” I suggest before asking in a lower voice, “Are zombies a real thing?” I look around to make sure Kat and Jane aren’t near enough to overhear.

I take a good gulp of my drink before settling myself by Caden. When he shows me the photos, I shake my head, not recognizing anything. “What are the theories?” I ask before finishing off my scotch. It’s a little strange that in one of the largest monster populated cities that whatever this thing is, is draining blood like a vampire and taking hearts like a werewolf.

“I wonder if it’s even drinking the blood or eating the hearts. Feels like it could be a red herring.”

I look to the others before I rest a hand on Nic's arm as I raise up on my tip toes and whisper in his ear.

”In a manner of speaking, but they aren't like the Walking Dead. Vampires could be classified as zombies too since they are the dead reanimated.” I let him go and walk over to the shooting game.

I watch Nero walk away, smiling until Kiki pulls me from my thoughts. I grin as I look at her.

”Yes, we are thinking they are trying to set up the werewolves. They had Avery come in for questioning..I'm pretty sure they wanted to arrest him, but I didn't let it get that far. The claw marks aren't right for a werewolf. As for other things. It could be a rugaru. They only eat human flesh, blood and all. From what I've seen they are a lot more vicious but if they are trying to throw us off their trail, it could be them. Which would tell me they have been around for awhile if they are that practiced at hiding their trail. I want to sniff out what the community has to say before I make any final assessments though.”

I chew on that information for a moment before following Cass, trying not to think too much about how I liked Cass whispering in my ear. I pick up the gun Cass didn’t and trying to quickly read the instructions. “I hope you’re a better shot than me.” I say with a chuckle. She probably is though, now that I think about it.

I tap the card twice before picking up a gun. I put it up to my shoulder and take aim, waiting for the game to start.

”I'm better with knives,” I say honestly. The first zombie pops up on the screen and I shout. ”Die zombies die!”

I can’t help it, I snort while laughing. Why is she so adorable even while telling zombies to die? I’m barely able to take proper aim at the zombies on the screen as I’m shaking with silent laughter. I can hear Kat and Jane behind us laughing as well.

Jane happily takes my gun from me and already the two are unstoppable. “I have to regain my honor now.” I tell Kat as we watch the two go at it. I like seeing this side of Cass too, she seems to really be having fun.

It’s not a fair fight; Kat and I rack up a lot of points, but it’s fun just playing the game with everyone. There’s lots of laughing and cheeky remarks from both sides. Eventually the game ends, but we go again, switching up the teams until it’s Cass and myself versus Kat and Jane for the final round.

I enjoy the deeper kiss while I can. I nod when Nero says they just have to dress and they'll be done. I walk into the closet to pull out my suit.

”So, about the club,” I start. I hang my suit up on the hook outside the closet and look at Nero. ”I've been there a few times and I usually arrive alone, but I don't leave alone. Depending on who's there, they might not understand that I'm unavailable. I've asked Kiki to play me in a way to try and mitigate that. But if anyone touches me or flirts with me, it doesn't mean anything to me.” I look at Nero seriously. Our relationship is still new, but my hope was that we can withstand meaningless flirting.
