The long lost ocean heir (a mer-person fantasy story)
Synopsis:
[center]In a realm of fantasy, in a land far away, beneath sparkling oceans under an emerald moon, there was a kingdom of beautiful creatures. These creatures lived happy, peaceful, day to day lives, under the protection of a great ruler, a wonderful king in their eyes. But, one day, something occurred that would disturb that peace, and disturb everyone's' lives. The princess, the kings daughter and younger sister to the crown prince of their kingdom.....HAD RUN AWAY!
They had vanished. They were nowhere in sight, nowhere in the kingdom. Citizens, guards, and soldiers alike had search all over the oceans surrounding the kingdom, but she was nowhere to be found. She was.... gone..... forever. A great sadness would befall the kingdom, the people. The king and his wife would be very upset for a long time, and both would perish of old age without ever knowing what happened to their daughter. The crown prince, after taking the throne and becoming king himself, kept the search going in his late parents stead. But, everyone slowly began to lose hope as time continued to pass without finding any sign of her.
No one would ever have an answer.

The princess ran away not out of hatred or fear, but out of anger.... and true love. She was angry at her family for trying to control her life one hundred percent. But.... more importantly.... she had fallen in love, and with someone her parents would not have approved of, regardless of species. She had fallen for a HUMAN MAN. Not only that, he had been a sailor who had been passing through the area. In order to pursue him, she had fled from home, with her magic pearl around her neck, a necklace if you will, and gave up being a mermaid. She would live as a human on land.
In the end, she was successful. The man would come to love her in return and the two were eventually married. She lived in a small beach side cottage with him, everyday seeming to be peaceful and wonderful. She never mentioned her family though, and he knew better than to ask. Time passed and she loved her new life.... and her new family. They would have a child, a son, who grew up happy and loved, unaware of what his mother truly was, and having no idea she had any living family, having questions that remained unanswered of course.

When she and the sailor both passed away in an accident, the son would now own the cottage....but he lived alone. He continued to live in the cottage he grew up in, he continued to live by the beach, and live out his life in a quiet mannor. But, those questions from when he grew up, the ones he always had, would continue to haunt him, and he would think about them whenever he glanced up at the starry night sky, especially when there was a full moon.
During one particularly bright full moon, everything would change for him.... forever.
A mermaid who had been brave enough to swim up close to the surface, to where that beach was, to gather seaweed had spotted him. Her eyes had widened, and she had gasped upon doing so. She saw his birthmark on his arm, an almost crescent moon like fish shaped mark.....it was just like HERS! And when she got a good look at his face, she saw his eyes....and saw those of the lost princess. In a hurry, she dove back down and swam all the way back to the kingdom to inform others of what she saw. Curious, soldiers (or knights if you will) would be sent out to find him and investigate, even retrieve him and bring him back. One powerful general in particular would led the charge. When he saw him, it did not take him long to make the connection and come to a decision to bring him back to their kingdom, to their king. He could sense their peoples magic in him.... and royal blood. This boy was connected to her, their princess.

That is where the story begins. A boy who had no idea of the truth of his origins, of where his mother came from even, would find out in the most unexpected manor, and enter a world that he did not ever know existed. He would be uprooted from his life and end up going on a journey to what would become his destiny.
