I saw that you were looking for more players for this RP. I'm extremely interested and will submit a character ASAP. Not only am I a big fan of turn of the century Occult Horror, I also am a big fan of the film The Devils directed by Ken Russel that tells the story of the Loudon possessions and the execution of Urbain Grandier.
I'm very happy to have your interest. I am still looking for more, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I've only really prepared for one more main role, but I could potentially work in additional characters if I really like them.
I've not actually seen the film, but thanks for the reference - that may be a great piece to look into for additional inspiration.
It's still a work in progress and I need to fill out the background and interest section, but here is what I have so far:
Name: Yvette Duverger Age: 33 Sex: F Profession: Farmer
Appearance: Yvette is a heavy-set women, standing at about 5,7ft with a rotund face that seems to permamently be in a bad mood. She has clear blue eyes and a bunch of freckles on her face, which is usually slighty sun-burnt from working outside so much. She is pretty strong and has a muscular build due to all the physical labor she has to engage in, and also has a very nice tan. Her black, shoulder-length hair is usually messy and kept in a ponytail as to not get in the way. She wears very simple clothes that are ragged and torn in a few places, owed to not being particularly wealthy. Her hair is usually hidden below a kerchief, and besides a simple golden chain and cross, she doesn't wear any other jewellery or accessories. It is pretty plain to see that Yvette does not particularly care about her appereance or what others might think about her because of it.
To attend the inheritance meeting however, she would wear her most precious dress, one that is usually reserved for weddings and other big events. It's a rather simple but elegant piece of clothing, featuring a bit of lace and of a deep, emerald green color. She also has the matching hat to go with it, but left it at home as she does not like wearing hats at all.
Personality: Yvette is a no-nonsense woman of few words that prefers to let her actions speak for her. She doesn't enjoy participating in idle conversation or small-talk, thus appearing rather unfriendly when engaging with strangers or new acquaintances. Her demeanor is serious most of the time, and it is a rarity to hear her laugh out loud. She prefers keeping to herself so that people won't bother her. However, she is very hard-working and disciplined in anything she does. When she sets herself a goal, she is very focused and dedicated to achieving it, no matter how hard the road might be. She might not be very book-smart, but knows everything there is to know about tending the fields and taking care of farm animals, often catching herself thinking that her livestock are better company than other humans.
Hidden under these layers of seriousness and unapproachability hides a person that feels very lost when it comes to forming human connections. Most of this is due to her secluded upbringing and not having made a friend in an extremely long time. Additionaly, her parents were very religious and strict, which lead to Olive having a weird relationship with christianity. She still participates in the religion, but it's mostly due to the fear her dad instilled in her than out of personal convictions.
As an adult, she often thought about what life might be like if she lived in a proper city, instead of on a lonely farm, but has always been too scared try such try such an extreme change. Receiving the invitation and finding out about a possible inheritance has made her hopeful, but also nervous, that things might change for the better.
I thought that going for a farmer-like character would add some variety to the cast. Feel free to let me know if this concept looks good so far
