I thought this might be a fun idea to do. List down your five favorite fiction-based deities (NO RELIGIOUS FLAMEWARS!) here.

Here's my list:

1. Azathoth (Cthulhu Mythos)- Of course the most powerful deity on this list. The idiot deamon sultan who when awakened, will destroy everything in the universe. Azathoth is neither evil nor good but the center of all chaos from the universe. This guy just blows everybody out of the water.
2. Khorne (Warhammer 40k Universe)- The Blood God who does not care who's blood flow, as long as it does. Powered by the large number of wars happening across the universe, he is undoubtedly the most powerful chaos God. His berzerkers are nuts and his deamon servants are just f**king scary. A god of unquenchable blood lust and violence may not be the best God to worship, but there's no denying he's a hardcore bad**s.
3. Mephisto (Diablo series)- The lord of hate and the closest thing the demons from the diablo universe has to a leader. He's hatred leads him to create plots and schemes that would turn everybody against each other. Al tough he likes to turn he's brothers and his servants against each other, he's main targets are the angels of the high heavens. Now if only Diablo III picked up on that...
4. Sheogorath (The Elder Scrolls series)- The craziest deadric prince to ever come out of oblivion. He used to be Jyggalag, the prince of order, until the other deadric princes got paranoid and turned him into the clusterf**k his is now. The mad prince may look fun and innocent enough but he has a dark side to his insanity. Even though he might have a bit of a psychopath in him, he's still the only deadric prince I would trust (which is probably a bad idea).
5. The Stranger (Faith of the Seven, A song of Fire and Ice)- The aspect of death and the unknown. Almost nobody prays to him or her or it, except for outcast. I just think he reminds me a little too much about Hades, the misunderstood caretaker of the dead.

How about you guys, which fictional deity is closest to your hearts?

Slaanesh, often portrayed solely as a god of sex has so much more. Slaanesh is the god of experience, perfection, feelings, beauty, mastery of others, art, and excess in all things. It is quite frankly the god of experiencing life, which is partly why it does not get along well with Nurgle and Khorne who are more death oriented.

Tzeentch (WH40K) -- Come on, he's my favorite. He's kind of just in the background from what I've seen of him, and setting things up. <3

Tymalous Shadowstar (The Goblin Quest series by Jim C. Hines) -- Seriously, this guy is hilarious. I love the forgotten god becoming a god to goblins. He's so sarcastic and hilarious and I just love it.

Odin (Jim Butcher's Dresden Files Series) -- This guy is amazingly badass. I don't want to drop any spoilers, but the twists to this guy is amazing and left me laughing so hard. I love the other interpretations of the other gods in this as well.

The gods in Neil Gaiman's American Gods novel -- This is another book with modern interpretations of gods in the world. The intricate story and how these characters are all portrayed by Gaiman is something I adore. It was one of my favorite reads. <3

The Mariner (The Keys to the Kingdom series, by Garth Nix) -- Big badass sailor with old lore and culture. He's helpful and pretty cool. I wish he had been shown more in the series.

Death (Diskworld series by Terry Pratchett) -- My favorite interpretation of death. The whole series is hilarious and has memorable characters. However, Death as the Hogfather (aka Santa Clause)? Hell. Yes. <3 And there was a pale rider, who rode upon a pale horse. And the name of that horse... was Binky. Ah, and Quoth, the Raven. <3
