Name: Beth Callahan.
Age: 26.
Gender: Female.
Appearance: Day Job: Mechanic at Nolan's Garage, an auto-repair shop that doubles as a front for an array of criminal dealings.
Bio: Beth's father, Tommy Callahan, has his roots in Ireland and made the move to Kansas City to follow his sweetheart, an American tourist named Angela. While their story started off sweet, Tommy's criminal tendencies and drug addiction had him tangled up in half of the city's gang crimes before Beth was five years old. Angela Callahan suffered from post-natal depression and turned to alcohol shortly after Beth was born.
As such, Beth grew up highly independent. Still a kid, she developed a tough outer shell as a defence mechanism and gave in to rowdy, somewhat violent moods whenever the situation called on it. She led a one-woman crusade against her childhood bully, which ended when she broke the boy's arm and nose. She unintentionally became the King Pin of the playground for a time, and discovered she quite enjoyed the feeling. However, she never terrorised the other kids. She's not a bully; while she won't go out of her way to protect people, she'll stand up for the underdog if she has to. But of course, the playground is nothing compared to the streets of Kansas City.
Meanwhile, Angela Callahan became a prostitute to fund her alcoholism and growing drug addiction. This led to many afternoons, evenings and nights that found Beth wandering the Kansas City streets because her mother locked the apartment. She quickly learned the law of the streets and did whatever was necessary for her survival. At thirteen years old she dropped out of school and joined a minor gang. She jumped from gang to gang whenever one disbanded or became the victim of a police raid. For four years she was part of minor gangs, during which time she learned to fight, steal, fire a gun, hotwire cars and ride a motorcycle, among other things.
Occasionally she visited her mother and got into fights with her customers. She worked her way up to larger, more influential gangs and bigger crimes, always refusing to be some gangster's arm-candy and demanding respect in her own right. Within gangs she made the odd friend but never got close to anyone. As a result she's unused to and concerned by amiable people. She's not the kind of person to waste time in any sense.
Her father would turn up at the apartment from time to time, usually hiding from something or someone. Beth followed him to Fiddler's Green one night and pulled him out of a bar fight. Since then she has been a regular, forming connections and often eavesdropping on conversations, especially those involving Tommy Callahan. After a while, however, he went missing. Despite her eavesdropping, Beth knew nothing to help her find him, though she's certain he got himself into too big a mess to get out of. She sticks around Fiddler's Green whenever she's not on a job or working at Nolan's Garage. Maybe one day she'll discover something new about her father's disappearance.
(How's that?)
