I'm looking for some players to join in a free form role play with me. The RP would take place in Elid, the holy city of Eia, god of purity and life. The city is built around the massive church of Eia but several other churches to other major gods are scattered around the city. Other landmarks include the famous "Kilted Gnome Inn," considered to have some of the best ale in the country but they keep their recipe very secret. In Elid you can also find the Castle of Lord Kelltor and his family. However, as pure as the city is when night falls, even the priests whose faith in their gods is unending, lock their doors and shutter the windows. Thieves assassins and thugs prosper in the light of the moon. Different gangs and thief guilds vie for power of the city's underworld. This is where you come in, you are part of this dark underworld and life as a thug is not always easy.

I will post more landmarks and places of interest, as well as more about the religion and background of the city if I get some people wanting to join. I would like this to be semi-realistic so there is no magic and there may be some fairly mature themes. So, anyone interested?

I'd definitely be interested in doing this. Maybe there could be a really extreme religion (or some kind of heretic cult) with self harming rituals, or better yet, child sacrifice. Anyway, i'm in.

Yeah, I wanted religion to play a big role in the goings on of the city but in such a way that at first, a visitor might see a pristine city, full of worshipers of peace and prosperity but look past the thin veneer of righteousness and you see a city corrupted by greed and power. The church secretly hires rouges of all sorts and extremists perform rituals (Many think the purity and grace of Eia can be gained through suffering) of dark natures. That kind of stuff.

I'll voice my interest, but I won't know for sure until I see the OOC.

For those of you still watching this, An OOC is up here. I will warn you I had a bit more homework than I had anticipated and so it is not quite done yet but I wanted to get something up tonight.

Seems like it has a "Bioshock Infinite" air to it. Beautiful place, everyone seems cool, but there's some dark stuff going on behind the scenes (and in public at times).

Okay, quick story and question. A few months back I got involved in a semi-fantasy RP (weapons and physics were a tad unrealistic), in which one was either one of the "bad guys in a mass gang" or one of the "good guys sort of doing their own thing." I opted to be the town mercenary, on-call by the mayor (or whoever) to take care of potential problems and rumors that were too vague or risky for police investigation. It actually worked well, until the thread spontaneously exploded. My character somehow ended up between a rogue sniper and a group of armed mercenaries and people weren't sure what to do about it. o_o

In an RP relating to crime in a pristine city, can I play an on-call specialist? It's a bit difficult to explain, but I hope you get the general concept. Listen to rumors, investigate at night, maybe get in a fight or two, and contact the local guards (if the city has them) with info, just to keep the thugs on their toes.

I'd also like you to clarify the extent of weapon and combat evolution in Elid. "No guns" seems like a given, but archery and poison would change things drastically, along with the type of armor available .

Sorry for the long post!

I answered your question on the OOC page because it had a lot of things that I wanted to cover anyways and I dont think many people are going to look here. So here is the link: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/21697/posts/ooc?page=1#post-580938
