I certainly am cuz I wasn't really thinking the length of the rapier itself when I wrote this. Bolas are those throwing balls and strings like Catwoman used in Arkham City, right?

Mhmmkay. ^_^
And yes. Bolas are the two balls attached by strings (I never played Arkham City). If used correctly they could totally kill someone, but the idea is to have a support.

I would assume that the Mist Guardian would be the best for support.

A list of ideas I've come up with thus far:
-Pair of hand guns that lock into one larger gun (Makes her mid-range, but allows for tranquility effect)
-Pair of ninjato (Bladed weapons again, but staying true to other Rain Guardians)
-Some kind of blunt instrument, like a bat (Won't allow for tranquility effect as much, but stays true to Jak's strengths)

I'm leaning towards the guns since we need more mid to long range fighters, and other Rain type flames have used guns before. (I.E. Collonello)

Oh look they unblocked RPG

Given our characters' current backgrounds and all, I guess those guns would be more for her Future self.

True. Still leaves what she'll have to use for right now. Perhaps the ninjato? That makes her close range again though… and I really don't see a Rain flame using a bat… need to think on it more I guess.

Why not a gun now?
Sonya could do hook her up like when Reborn hooked up Yamamoto with his bat/sword.
It's not ridiculous to use one. I've fired a .45 handgun.

Hmm. Yeah, that's mostly what I was thinking. Since the Vongola have like, the BEST toys.
Plus, we really need someone to work mid to long range since everyone's close up. Is it because of some other factor I am unaware of, Solace?
It could totally fire bullets made of dying will flames and never run out of ammo

Sonya could totally hook everyone up with illegal firearms.

I didn't say it was ridiculous. And I believe I've also shot a gun before. It's nothing to praise.

I mean, I was thinking more on the future, which isn't exactly so bright - I'll use Daisuke as an example. I plan on him utilizing a Bō Staff for a majority of the time, and his (current) Future version wields a multitude of ordinary spears as weapons.

However, this version of him is not at his full potential because of a bunch of differences in that timeline, and that version is weaker in comparison to what Daisuke could've became (though, don't get me wrong, he's still fairly powerful individually in the Future. You'll see at some point).

(I'm not sure if the above thing was relevant but hey you got some inside information about Daisuke)

More related to what I was implying, I'll use another example - I have an upcoming character whose choice of weapon is a handgun. Since he / she was born into whatever affiliation they are apart of, access to firearms is not much of an issue. I was just saying that since Jak is, you know, a normal law-abiding citizen right now, she wouldn't really have access to firearms, nor would I think she would just willingly take hold of something used to murder and hold up and all.

But yeah, I actually forgot about Sonya for a second (SORRY AGNI), so that could be a possibility. I mean, it's up to you-

I wasn't bragging. It's my understanding that all people should fire a weapon at least once.
I was just kinda saying her carrying one today isn't out if the question since I'm her age (didn't check, close enough).
Though readiness to fire one, granted, I didn't take into account. My dad's a soldier so guns are common place to me.

I shot a gun in my backyard on accident; my uncle in law was a cop, and he kind of forgot to keep the handgun on safety as he handed my nine year old self the firearm to hold... and my finger kind of slipped-

ALSO
I FORGOT TO MENTION
When Boxes and Flames come into play, the latter will probably arrive sooner (though I wouldn't say that they'll be there for the next arc, not sure) while Boxes won't be touched upon until the late third arc or the Future. But when it does happen, there's something I want to emphasize:

One character, one Flame, one Box.

Unless they're really, really special. Like Sonya and Vector, as of now.
The reason is, is that even having one Flame itself is exceedingly rare. Two Flames is just outright unheard of. And even if one possessed multiple Flames, it'd take a very very long time to even use one with some capability-

Hmm. All valid points. However, there would definitely time to refine a lot of the use of the weapons. Yamamoto was handed his bat, but he had to learn to use it effectively and ultimately received a better weapon.

Jak's never fired a real gun (much like myself) but I'd imagine no one would be a perfect shot right off the bat anyway. Not to mention that there's a lot I can do with the hand guns to upgrade them for later. Now though, the most fancy thing you could use them for is hitting a target with rubber bullets. I'm not sure if Sonya would actually let a bunch of high/middle schoolers have weapons they can't use effectively and have someone get hurt fatally.

Not to mention, if I go this route then I have a lot more play with who I can get to mentor Jak. (If we're doing that). You don't have to be a professional who uses guns all the time and only in a rigid fashion to know how to work a gun. Unlike a katana. Not saying that you can't use guns professionally, but you can certainly learn through trial and error a bit better than with a katana style. You have to be shown that, and repeat various steps.

Plus, if Sonya really is going to be training them to fight, she needs to supply weapons and know her 'students' current history. She can't expect Naoto to just pull weapons out of nowhere anyway, even if his mom is an assassin. More than likely, with these 'personalized weapons' she is trying to see who all can use what. If that fails then she might have more on standby.

As for Jak taking the weapons, that will have to be something she'll have to overcome herself. She doesn't have personal issue with guns, but being handed weapons that kill someone will take a toll on anyone. She's already made the decision, and she won't back out, but growing to accept the weapons is something that I'm sad didn't really make it into the anime or manga. If you give a kid a sword, then they are told they have to use it on people, then what comes of the person?

We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, though. For now, the guns have a great amount of play for their use and I have an idea on how they're going to 'evolve' later on. Using close range weapons are a little over played right now too. Jak will deal with the idea of using the weapons as it comes, because that's how she works.

As for firing a gun, whether it be rifle or handgun, I'd be surprised if she didn't knock a tooth out if she was using trial/error. :P

As for weapons and understanding the gravity, I kinda built Benjamin to be a fencer. Rich kid, lots of clubs. All that kinda translates to fencing. So the real question is how will he handle killing someone?
I imagine they would have but the writers probably wanted to scoot the show/manga on a little faster. I thought it was weird that at least Yamamoto wasn't hesitant.
Everyone else kinda showed up with their own...
