Weapon/
Fighting Style:
Physically, Qingge is very healthy but not particularly strong or fast; her skills rely heavily on technique to make up for the things she can't do. She can however take a lot of damage before she's down and her endurance/stamina is no joke.
Needles; Qingge carries various types of hidden needles on her person at all times, ranging from various sizes, weights, some poisoned, others meant for purely medicinal reasons and so forth. They function best when thrown at the target from a close distant or in direct space of the target—long distance throwing is only possible with the heavier needles but they are considerably slower.
Blank State; An ability that Qingge developed in her teenhood informally dubbed the
blank state. The technique works through a form of meditation where Qingge can enter a state of mind where she essentially loses her inhibition and morality, allowing her to act purely on logic and complete tasks with the utmost efficiency. Because Qingge is normally hesitant to seriously injure people, she uses this ability to avoid feeling remorse or indecision during assassinations. However, it’s near impossible for her to enter the
blank state when she’s already feeling intense emotions and generally must be calm in order to do so.
Appearance:
Present; An assassin trained to operate in broad daylight—Qingge has an unassuming appearance meant to blend into any urban setting without drawing too much attention. She stands at the average height (for her country) of 158cm. With short brown hair, wide eyes, and a round face, she has a girlish quality to her; in fact, she is often mistaken as a teenager despite being in her early 20’s. Her physique is that of someone who is in the peak of their health although not someone meant for close combat given her short stature and petite frame. When not on the job, she is often seen wearing the same or similar outfit which consist of black leggings, red running shoes, a headband, fingerless gloves, and a white saam (with black undershirt).
Ten Years Later; Considerably more mature in appearance, Qingge has an almost motherly quality to her features. She now looks closer to her actual age when compared to her youth, no longer mistaken as a teenager girl. Her hair has been grown out, now in a long ponytail that reaches well past her thighs and has since dropped the headband she used to wear. Overall, her appearance isn’t considerably different but she is very much a woman now. Noticeably, she's almost started to look like her mentor/friend*** from her childhood.
Personality:
Very expressive, Qingge is the type to wear her emotions on her sleeves; an honest character, she can’t lie very easily but is good at keeping secrets, always opting to keep her mouth shut instead of making excuses. While upbeat and full of energy, Qingge is not a sensitive person having been brought up in an atmosphere where such things were frowned upon (or worse) and as a result has a somewhat negative reaction to weakness, whether in herself or the people around her; she’s been hardened because of her environment but is still prone to self-doubt, often hesitating in her actions and decisions, much rather preferring to be told what to do.
In the future, she is still the expressive young woman she was ten year ago but has a calm serenity about her and is much more optimistic despite still being an assassin. She no longer needs the
blank state to perform her duties, having found a balance in her life but will no longer kill just because she’s told to—using her own judgment and if she has doubts, she’ll openly voice them. One thing to note is that since becoming a (foster) mother****, Qingge often comes off as someone constantly stuck in la-la land, spacing out and tripping over herself/words but is in actuality is in a tough position between trying to balance her work and personal life out (she has no complaints however and finds time for both).
History:
Orphaned at a young age, presumably the unwanted child of a gangster, Qingge was raised together with several other orphans by the Chinese mafia or
Triad* as it’s more accurately called and was originally known as “Niu” (
”It’s a good enough name for someone like you,”). These children (and many more before and after) were trained to fulfill various tasks from early youth for said organization. At age ten, Niu was placed under the care of the assassin
Lin-lin*** alongside five other girls, all expected to become masters in the art of seduction to be used in assassination and information gathering. Niu was dissatisfied. The tension between herself and Lin-lin was high; Niu was a wild child who made a genuine effort to raise hell for Lin-lin, who in retaliation, wasn’t against using violence to keep Niu under control.
Somewhere along the lines they formed a genuine bond.
And it was during their budding friendship that Niu was expected to perform her first assassination, by murdering a woman who had betrayed their organization. The woman already captured, all Niu had to do was kill her, to get a feel for what flesh felt like under blade. She couldn’t do it, resisting the commands of her superiors but gave in when Lin-lin threatened to take Niu’s life for her weakness. She was rattled by the experience, unable to function normally and it was then that Lin-lin decided to rename Niu, Qingge*** (
”Your old name is boring and ugly, Qingge is much prettier,”) and for inexplicable reasons, Qingge as much happier being Qingge than Niu. There would be many more experiences like the last but Qingge had developed a technique informally dubbed the
blank state. She could clear her mind of inhibition and morality, only functioning on reason alone to perform her kills.
Unlike her sisters-in-arms, Qingge wasn’t suited to seduction and in fact was found to be perfect for just to opposite; public assassinations, having the innate ability to blend into crowds because of her inconspicuous appearance coupled with the
blank state, she could easily find someone in a bustling city, stab them, inject them with poison, etc. and calmly walk away like nothing happened. It wasn’t a pleasant lifestyle by any means, but she was under good protection with the Triad, well-fed, and had a friend to share her pain with (albeit silently). However, Lin-lin’s health had been failing for many years and by the time Qingge was twenty, Lin-lin was unable to function properly and was both figuratively and literally pushed out of the way being considered an invalid, left to die slowly in some backend of the headquarters, unable to leave because of the secrets she carried.
And it was with Lin-lin’s final moments that she told Qingge to leave China and to seek out Vongola in Italy. While Lin-lin couldn’t tell Qingge much, she did explain the basics of the Famiglia and Italy, she told Qingge to “get in their favor, serve them, and you’ll be safe”. Qingge ran away from the Triad, stowing away on a cargo ship as per Lin-lin’s instructions and journeying to Italy. It has been two years since then and Qingge finds herself in Trespiano…
****Ten years to the future, Qingge is the foster mother to a strange nine-year-old girl named
Alvin.
Overview: Qingge is a young and cheerful woman whose origins lie in Taiwan, operating as an assassin with the aid of her blank state ability. For two years now she has been seeking out Vongola upon the request of her childhood mentor/friend Lin-lin.
