Today at 4:00 AM my brother, Stryder has officially became a US soldier and in now on his flight to Fort Benning, Georgia for his Basic Training & AIT as a Calvary Scout. He'd finally be at the base later on today and was excited and glad to be an official Army US soldier and glad to protect the people he cares about and that such.

He told everyone a while ago in a thread a week before his ship-out date. Today he's officially in. Thought I should make this thread to honor my brother, let everyone who hasn't already been notified by him that he'll be gone for the next 4-6 months and because I told him that I would.

We all know Basic Training is tough, as would his AIT and if he decides to go he'll probably be taking Ranger training as well. So if anyone has anything special to say or want to give my brother a letter of thanks, motivation or appreciation please PM me so that I could print it out and mail it to him. :)

Now that that's out of the way....

Last I heard he is still in flight and I probably won't be receiving his Army Mailbox until he mails me first...

There are however, other forms of communication so if you don't trust me in giving him your letters you can still PM his account on RPG (even though I doubt he'll see them) and/or you can ask me to ask him for permission directly on giving out his private information so you could mail him yourself... He also does have a skype that I think he checks as often as possible so that's also a good thing even though I think Skype will be the same as RPG.

Also, for those who are sad about Stryder leaving and need someone to talk to note that I'm also his brother and this is also hitting me pretty hard as well. ever since we met we hardly separated, I always guided him and he always guided me, we watched each other's backs and helped one another all the time... So I know what you're going through and I'm ALWAYS free to talk.

A quote from my MCpl who was my Platoon commander in basic, "Pain is weakness leaving the body." It started helping a lot when I started to believe it.

Also, for some reason, when I was struggling with the "motivational" (read punishment) PT, I kept singing the tune of the choruses of Pink Floyd's Time in my head. Sometimes it helps to latch onto something to take your mind off shit.

I went to Basic. As important as it is to stay focused and attentive, nobody really lasts if they don't have any friends. Make sure to talk to people-- Of course, when you're allowed to.

'Murica and the Frozen Wastelands of Canadia may be different places, but Basic is just about the same. If a lanky kid like me can get through it, I'm sure you'll do great! ^^
