What they were doing up till now: They had been on the streets of New York when the outbreak struck. At first they are unsure of what was going on, but after a stop in at a diner that was playing the news they quickly figured it out. On their way out if the diner a cop and his partner pulled them over and started asking them questions about where they had been. Connor tried to warn the cop to watch out and turn around, but all he said was ‘I’m not going to fall fo-' and then the zombie got him from behind, tearing a chunk out of his throat. By the time the officer’s partner had killed the first one there were three more. Connor grabbed the first cop’s gun and with the help of the partner, an officer by the name of Larry Altwight, Connor and Abby got away.
They traveled with Larry and his family for a while, meeting his wife and son, riding with them in the Altwight family's RV. That is until the Altwight boy, a kid no more then twelve was bitten while he was being stupid. Connor and Larry fought with each other on what to do, right up until David, Larry's son, got up and ate his mom in her sleep, and then delivered the death chomp to his old man. Connor did what he had to do, then he and Abby found another car and headed north, towards the house their adopted family had lived in back when they were still in Toronto.
