I have no where to find pictures for my characters. It takes me days to find someone. I hate it. I used to have a model website with criteria search, but they removed the search.

If anyone has a website where you can search through the models by criteria, please let me know. Or just tell me where you find your pictures. Someone suggested Deviantart to me, but someone would need to tell me how to find the pictures I'm looking for using dA or Flickr.

Please and thank you! c:

DeviantART.
The Booru network. (Do -not- go there without some guides or you will hit anime and NSFW content before you can even blink.)
Google Images?

Failing the above I usually just resort to text.

Typically I just do Google searches until I find a pic I feel matches my character. I prefer not to use well-known celebrities too so avoid them.

I typically just use text, a custom created character if appropriate, or in rare cases commission a picture if I am passionate enough for that character and intend on reusing them.

I mostly stick to text these days. It provides all the info other people need and in away lets me be more creative, as I am not limited to describing stuff around a picture. I can make exactly who I want.

I invent them in my head then find some that match as close as possible on google. If I can't find an exact match then I use text.

DeviantART.

Often, when I just want to create a character I'll look here and build around whatever I like.

Google image searching.

I type in things like "ugly alien face"

or "east european knight armor"

And search through that.

google is good if you're looking for something that sisn't so specific, but it'll take some time to go through all the ones you dont want
tumblr is good sometimes to but you need to know where to look
Deviantart is great as well, but some pics may be too artsy

We used to make our own character images, but ever since we lost our renderer, that hasn't been quite as fun. Last time we dug up an image, we used Deviant Art. After saving it, we edited it some to make it fit better.

One annoyance in there is that images often are either of greatly varying quality, or unrealistic yet good quality. Typically female characters are basically dressed in "clothes" that share suspiciously much in common with lingerie, only that it appears to be designed not to have any clothes on top of it. At least that is what we noted when looking up star wars character images.

Since I usually play in slice of life and Sci-Fi I can usually get away with just using indie musicians as my portraits. So I've used St. Vincent, the lead singer from Orchid, the lead singer from Deafheaven, and the guitarist from Pity Sex. If all else fails I'll usually resort to google searching vauge terms and scowering until I find one that's okay.

I have a few stock photographers I follow on DeviantArt to reference my drawings/paintings, so I often look through them for characters too. After playing the character for a bit, I usually draw them as well, though I really need to start using the created images more often.

As far as celebrities go, I usually find them when I'm watching something. It's unlikely to be the main actor in a show/movie, but I'll see some supporting actor or cameo person and go, 'gee, they'd be great for such-and-such'. Then I find who it is and grab their image. I have a folder full of potential avatar images from various actors.

Others have mentioned good sites for non-celebrities.

The only model site I've ever peeked on is New Faces, whose search page is still up and working. I think I've found one playby that way..

I personally never use celebrities or real pictures because... it makes me shiver, thinking someone's off using my own picture for some character.

Anyway I use zerochan, google, sometimes deviantart, all good but need to know how to search. Often end up writing because nothing will quite work image wise though pictures can be inspiring.

This one doesn't have a search pre-say, but when your fishing through the pages of names and such there do have a single picture attached to it that gives you the change to then google image more images of them. linky

google, deviantart, zerochan most of the time. Although imgur, tumblr and photobucket sometimes had some good images that I could stumble upon.
