Personality: Lin'Yi is a slightly complicated girl. Loyalty runs through her blood. Once she's found a cause to devote herself to, its near impossible to shake her faith. She's more than willing to sacrifice herself for the life of her lord, but seeing as though the distance between them is so great, she'll settle for
risking it for another whose goals she can bring herself to admire. Honor is another strong component of her personality. She cannot bring herself to commit heinous and immoral acts, such as cutting down civilians or striking down unarmed opponents. She's not wild about the idea of murder either, no matter how justified. Unless you some how manage to enrage the Valmese girl, she's likely to simply wound her opponents rather than ending their lives, something with often and recently came back to bite her.
Despite her very stoic position, she's a very compassionate woman. She's simply had to temper herself to maintain a certain image over time. She enjoys taking care of other people. It is what led her to practice and hone her skills in cooking. She's somewhat embarrassed about this fact, so she tends to hide her nurturing away whenever possible.
Biography:
Lin'Yi hailed for Chon'sin, a country on the continent of Valm. In the land where family heritage was everything, Lin'Yi had her destiny decided for her before she was even in the womb. Her father and mother served as the body guards to a line of nobility in the Valmese court. Their parents before them and their grandparents did as well. The long family lineage of protecting stretched back to the early days of Chon'sin's existence. Shortly after she could begin to learn, she was taught in detail how to watch over her lord. From preparing his drinks to ensuring a slithering assassin was not in his presence. She took to the work well, her eyes for detail and honest tendencies helping her become one of the heir's favorite guards. So favored was she that he assigned her to watch over a personal trade envoy being sent to Plegia to share goods with the royalty of the nation. It was with a heavy heart but dutiful determination that she left her homeland via ship, destined for their oversea neighbors.
It was unfortunate that shortly after landing and embarking from port that Plegia decided to declare war upon her kin. Suddenly, she and the few merchants she and her fellow soldiers guarded were behind enemy lines. She was confident that the merchant's honest intentions and civilian status would save them from possibly attack. Perhaps it would have, but a chance encounter with a group of brigands looking to prey on their exotic goods ensured it wouldn't have. She and the token force guarding the caravan managed to kill off the lot of the poorly armed soldiers with their steel and arrows. In fact, none but one had escaped the resulting massacre. A sniveling man who had thrown down his weapon and begged for mercy at the feet of none other than Lin'Yi herself. Honor bound as she was the young girl could not bring herself to strike down an unarmed combatant. She allowed him to scurry into the shadows of the night, returning to her comrades with the confidence that the threat was defeated. It was far from done.
The next morning the convoy was descended upon by creatures of the skies. Plegian Wyvern Riders, alerted to the presence of the Valmese by the very brigand who she had spared. He passed them off as ruthless assassins who killed his innocent mercenary party in their camp. The skilled soldiers overwhelmed the guards, killing many men and women whom Lin'Yi had grown up with and trained besides. She managed to pass herself off as a corpse, sneaking away in order to ensure her survival as the soldiers pillaged the remains of the battlefield.
