Ivy, staring Mei down, was attempting to conceal her visible distraction. Mei's voice was completely different to the scathing hiss she had heard before, which meant that they were still in dangerous company. Before she could turn around to resume her search, two massive walls of ice suddenly rose up from the ground at each end of the alleyway, blocking them in. The ice turned at a sharp angle and connected in the middle, high above them. What had formerly been an alleyway now a gigantic, icy cavern.
"Hunting humans, are we?" said the mysterious voice once again with the same characteristic hiss.
"We don't discriminate." shot back Ivy, turning around swiftly in case of a surprise attack.
"In front of you." said the sibilant voice, much clearer this time.
Ivy whirled around once more and staggered backwards, shocked at the sudden appearance of a tall, feline-like woman. Her skin, ghostly pale, was set in contrast to her bright red lips. Her eyes, with slits for pupils, contracted in delight at the sight of Ivy and those scarlet lips parted, revealing sharp fangs for teeth.
"Who are you?" demanded Ivy, straightening up and staring the woman in the eyes to show her that she was not afraid.
"They call me Bastet," she purred. "And I come with a challenge. I want to face the best that you four have to offer. Pick one fighter. If you win, we will let you live."
"We?" repeated Ivy, glaring at the solitary figure.
"Oh yes." she replied darkly. "And unless you'd like to meet the rest, I suggest you pick someone soon."

Carolyn grasped the bracelet that Cancer gave it and held it up at eye level, scrutinising it. She had planned on delving into his mind without his permission, so receiving it just made things easier. However, there was a more pressing matter on her mind.
"Where did this come from?" she inquired. "This looks like some kind of... patient wristband, the kind you'd get at a human hospital."
