Many years had passed since the war. It was terrible - the war went on for years until an agreement was made between the two parties to make peace. One party was the humans, and the other, the aliens. Humans and aliens had pledged to live together harmoniously on earth. However, the two biggest families who first initiated the war, still lived in hatred against each other. Lia Stevens, the descendant of one of the families, had been raised to hate the other family, but she was too young to learn about hate then.

At school, Lia thought she was going to sleep through Science class. "Alright, pupils! Find a partner and get on with the experiment!" Her science teacher suddenly called from the front. Lia turned to her friend, but not until she remembered that her friend wanted to be partnered with her boyfriend for today. Damn. People was starting to settle in place with their partners. The better ones were all taken. "Who else doesn't have a partner?" She called out loudly, raising her hand.

Kaiden had always been raised to believe that the Serain family was above everyone and everything. Especially the human family that his father claimed to have caused the war on Earth.
"The Cherwa are a peaceful folk," his father had told him numerous times. "They never start wars."
Even so, Kaiden lived to hate this family even though he never knew why.
"Who else doesn't have a partner?" the science called loudly.
He raised his hand... or paw. He never understood why the Cherwa looked like human cats. His white ear twitched.
"Alright, Kaiden," she said, "you'll work with Lia."
"Ugh, do I have to?" he groaned.
"No one is above my authority, Mr. Serain. I suggest you get over it."
Kaiden begrudgingly got up from his desk and walked over to the pink haired human girl and sat next to her.

"Oh, hey, Kaiden. Why the grumpy face?" Lia teased when the boy sat next to her.
She knew how much he hated her because of their family feud but she did not hate him for that - no need for more negative emotions in school.
"Alright guys, you all know what to do, now get moving!" The teacher said.
The experiment was to dissect a frog. Lia just stared at the poor animal, jumping wildly to escape the container it was held in. They were supposed to make it unconscious by giving it chloroform. She opened the container and yelped when the frog almost leaped out.
"Ew, some help here?" She turned to Kaiden.

Kaiden rolled his eyes and clutched onto the frog. He gestured Lia to give the frog the chloroform. Once it was done, he handed her the small knife.
"You do it," he said solemnly.
Walking to the sink, he washed his hands and shuddered at the thought of having to touch the frog's skin.
He glanced at Lia. He knew she didn't hate him, yet it bugged him. He felt like she was supposed to hate him.
After he dried his hands, he pulled his long white hair back into a ponytail and walked back to where Lia was sitting.

"O-okay... let's see..." She gulped as she read the instructions on the book.
She was more natural than she thought when she sliced through its skin. She wasn't feeling nauseous when she saw the organs of the frog either, she skillfully pulled a slump of organs out of its body.
"They are so small!" She grunted as she struggled to find its heart between its intestines.
"Here, it's your turn." She left him to the frog as she scribbled an image according to the frog in her book.
She took a few glances at him. "You don't seem happy to be partnered with me."

Kaiden said nothing as he carefully picked through the organs.
"I was hoping to be partnered with another girl," he said quietly. "I noticed that she's not here today." He gently dug through the intestines. "I found the heart."
He nudged Lia and gestured at the tiny heart.
Looking up for a moment, he saw a blonde human girl looking at him lustfully as she twirled her short ponytail and smirked.
He gave a blank expression.
She gave him a death glare before turning her gaze back to her frog.
Kaiden shrugged and continued to go through the small organs.

Lia gave him a knowing expression. "Oh I see." She was so sure that it was because of their family rivalry before, but she did not expect him to say that.
The heart was still thumping when he showed her. It was agonizing and fascinating at the same time.
Lia noticed that a human girl was prying for his attention. It wasn't an uncommon sight that humans and aliens date, in fact there were many couples like that.
"People will think that you have something against her," she tried not to touch the sensitive issue of races. "Or is it that you are taken?"

"She's been trying to go out with me, and it pisses her off that I'm not interested in her," replied Kaiden. "And no, I'm not taken."
He sighed. "Why am I telling you this?"
He was supposed to hate her, but somehow he can't convince himself that he does. Dislike, that was easy to convince himself about. But not hate.
Kaiden had been noticing a lot of humans and aliens dating each other and the couples always got mixed responses. Some praise them for being brave and showing their love for someone that was not their kind. Others tell them to stay with their own kind and not be bothered dating each other.
Is it over yet??? he thought to himself, his long, bushy white tail swaying back and forth.

Lia was about to say something until the Science teacher interrupted, "Okay, class, ten minutes left, keep the things away and put your frog into this waste bag here." She gestured, "and you may go off to your lunch break."
The class was chattering away as they cleaned up their table. Lia went to the sink to wash the apparatus.
"Hey, you okay with the Cherwa over there? I know you guys have some 100 year old feud going on between your families," suddenly her friend approached her and spoke.
"100 years? I don't remember it to be that long." Lia replied.
"I know, I'm just making fun of you girl. Maybe there will be a miracle one day." She winked playfully and left.
A miracle, huh? She thought, still washing the blood-stained knife over the sink.

Kaiden went to his desk and grabbed his things before walking out the door. He freed his hair from the ponytail and kept walking down the hall.
"Hey..." said a voice that sounded like a preppy girl.
The blonde went up next to Kaiden and smiled.
"Go away, Michelle," he answered.
"Don't you like me?" Michelle looked at Kaiden with a pleading look.
"I said go away." Kaiden kept walking to a group of Cherwa guys that were laughing and jeering at Michelle.

Michelle insisted on following him nonetheless.
"Why don't you like me? I'll do whatever you say," she held his arm this time, giving him a puppy look.
He was so much her dream prince.

When Lia finished cleaning up, most of the pupils had already left the lab for lunch. She made a double check before she went off with her best friend of all time, Alex.
"Hey, I want you to see something," Alex pulled her to a hallway and pointed to Michelle. "Poor girl, I don't know why she's so obsessed with that Cherwa."
Lia just shrugged. She wasn't as interested as other people's business as Alex.

"Why do you insist on bothering me?" sneered Kaiden, pulling his arm away. "I'm not interested in you. Why the hell do you have to be so annoying 24/7?!"
The other Cherwa boys snickered among themselves.
"But Kaiden," said Michelle. "Why are you so mean to me? All I want is to date you..."
Kaiden took a deep breath and locked his blue eyes on her. "Just...leave..."
He turned around and went to the Cherwa guys who surrounded and followed him.

Lia and Alex watched the whole thing from afar. "I'm afraid she might do something silly." Alex commented as she kept her belongings into her locker.
"Ehem." Lia just nodded.
Alex decided that she could tolerate no more of this drama. Couldn't she see that she was being humiliated here? Alex bumped into Michelle purposefully.
"Hey! What's wrong with you?" For a second there Michelle's attention was diverted.
"The guy already said he doesn't want to have anything to do with you! Why are you being so pathetic?" Alex countered, while Lia rushed to her friend's side.
"Keep it down Alex," Lia whispered.

Kaiden flicked his ear from hearing someone talking to Michelle. He shook his head
Why should anyone bother? It's like ever girl at the school is trying to hook up with me...
He turned to a taller Cherwa boy with short red hair and bobbed red tail.
"So Kaiden," he began. "How's it feel to be desired by the ladies?"
"Don't start, Mal," Kaiden hissed.

Alex and Michelle stared at each other for a while until Michelle sighed.
"I will never give up on you, Kaiden." Michelle announced solemnly before she walked away, leaving Alex sniggering at her back.
"Boys!" Alex coughed to have their attention, then she spoke to Kaiden. "I chased the girl away for you. You owe us one."
Despite Lia's intent to not involve herself into this mess, Alex waited patiently for their reaction.

Kaiden turned and looked at Alex.
"I don't owe you anything..." he said.
"Maybe we should take up on her offered," grinned Mal.
Kaiden looked at Mal. "Shut up."

Alex was certainly unsatisfied with his answer.
"Yes you do, don't deny it." Alex replied proudly.
Alex turned to Mal. "You say it. How should you pay us back? Maybe I should never help you guys after all. Let Michelle go running after your tail."

"No, no!" shouted Kaiden. "I don't need her chasing me!"
"Take up her offer." Mal nudged Kaiden and winked at him.
A frustrated Kaiden sighed. "Fine... what do we owe you?"
Mal kept looking at Alex and grinned at her.

"Maybe you can start with buying me lunch. I like Starbucks coffee, and she likes cappuccino," Alex pointed at Lia, "Extra foam as well."
"Oh! Buy some muffins as well! They are tasty." Alex grinned thinking of the menu.
"Well, when you are done, boys, meet us at the cafeteria!" Alex pulled Lia away, whistling to herself.
Lia frowned at Alex. "Why did you do that?"
Alex winked back. "Those Cherwa boys are cute."

"Let's go get the ladies some Starbucks," Mal said cheerfully.
Kaiden nodded and hurried to the school gate where he and Mal climbed over and strolled to the Starbucks across from the school. He coolly walked in and approached the cashier.
"Hi, welcome to Starbucks," the cashier smiled, "may I take your order?"
"Yes, I would like a coffee and a cappuccino with extra foam." Kaiden paused to try and remember what Alex told him to get.
"And we would like two muffins, another coffee, an iced coffee, three scones, and two paninis," added Mal, reaching for his wallet.
"Dude, what are you doing?"
"Buying the girls lunch and getting us ours..."
"My dad's gonna kill me."
"He won't kill me thought. I'm his favorite nephew."
Kaiden rolled his eyes. "You're his only nephew."
"Besides, the girls are cute. And I wanna treat."
"Fine, just pay so we can appease the chicks."
After they got their order, the boys snuck back to the school grounds and made their way to the cafeteria.
