She was in the office early this morning, getting ready to do the morning announcements along with her friend, Kaitlyn, who she adored so much. Her eyes flickered when Kaitlyn entered the building and an instant smile danced across her features. Kaitlyn came closer to her and smiled but they knew that since they were fixing to do the morning announcements, they had to keep quiet until they were done. Sabrina looked at the office secretary, who was busy handling the tardy students and making sure that they keep quiet during the announcements and the pledge. "We're ready." Sabrina spoke softly while the secretary snapped her fingers and placed her index finger over her lips, signaling for everyone to keep quiet. Kaitlyn and Sabrina did the pledge and the announcements then everything went back to normal. Kaitlyn and Sabrina gave each other a hug and said that it was great as ever.

Sabrina grabbed her purse and her book-bag and was fixing to exit the office but then principal came up to her and handed her a piece of paper, with people's names on them. "Your name is on that list as well. Can you find those people for me and bring them to the auditorium?" He asked kindly of her as she reviewed over the list then lifted her head to meet his gaze with a smile then nodded her head. "Sure thing, Mr. Daniels." She turned heel then left the office building while lifting the paper up again and rolling her eyes with sigh as she first stopped by her locker and put her book-bag in it then went on to gather the other five people from the list.

"Hey guys." She waved at them. Some of them she knew, some of them she didn't. Her flashed over towards Paul for a moment and a small blush began to spread among her chest as she straightened up and cleared her throat. "Anyways, follow me." Sabrina said while turning around and waving her index finger for them to follow her as her heels clicked against the hallway floor then the concrete as she exited the building.

Sabrina escorted them towards the auditorium, where there was at least six people in white lab coats standing there and smiling. She sat down in the front as her eyes flashed over everyone else then back up towards the odd looking scientists. One of the scientists step forth and speaks. "Welcome ladies and gentleman, thanks for showing up here today." He said while passing it on to other scientist. "We are producing this new project called "The Changed" and you guys are our handpicked selects for this project." Sabrina body just froze when she heard the change. What are they changing? Why are they changing something about us? She wanted to ask these questions so bad but just waited until they were done as she scanned over everyone else again, seeing if they were frozen in place like she was.

"We have already contacted your parents and they are in the office waiting on you guys to say goodbye. More will be explained later. Alright? See you guys then." One of the scientist said. Sabrina was one of the first to jump up and exit the auditorium, marching towards the office. Before she could even make it there, two people in black suits grabbed her and shoved her in the back of a van.

Sooner or later, the other five went thrown back there with her.

After all of them were in the back of the van, someone pounded on the back of the van and it sped off. Heavy breathing could be heard coming from Sabrina as she eyed everyone. She wondered where they were going and hoped that this project was completely harmless. She didn't sign up for anything like this or she think she didn't. A soft sigh escaped over her parted lips as she wanted to break the silence. "Am I the only one that is confused about what is going on?" She asked towards them then felt the van come to a screeching stop as she tumbled down on the floor. "Ouch." She mumbled then got back up and dusted herself off.

She wondered where they were as fear came over her body again. She was frozen and couldn't move a muscle. Her eyes flickered back up towards everyone else and tried to read their reactions but didn't even bother to try. She heard the driver and passenger door slam shut and just waited for the back of the van to open up, which didn't until ten minutes later. Each student was escorted off the van and brought into a cafeteria, where people handed them an already prepared plate and something to drink. Sabrina grabbed her plate with a crooked smile then sat at the only table that was place in there.

Before eating she reviewed over her food and waited to see if someone was going to eat before her. If that person didn't collapse and die then she would eat her own food.

It was too easy for Piper Irving to disrupt the faithful friendship between Parker and Hannah. When Hannah, a sweet blonde who was dedicated to Parker, came to Piper and explained her adulterous feelings for Parker’s beau, Piper jumped on the idea. Of course, to anyone, she was the quintessence of understanding and leant her ear like the good friend she was, but she had been plotting a dramatic scheme the moment she heard. Getting away with it was simple – convincing Hannah to get Amber’s advice was painless enough. Amber was the best friend of many and she had surreptitiously spread the rumors to them until, after a whole day of waiting, Parker had finally gotten the news. That was how Piper found herself in the girls’ bathroom, offering a tissue to the pitifully crying Parker who had lingering thoughts of her absent boyfriend being less than faithful.

“Shh, it’s okay Parker. I’m sure Hannah wasn’t going to act on the feelings.” The brunette cooed and another sob echoed in the restroom. The Irving girl could not stop herself from rolling her eyes at the pathetic reaction when she had hoped the strong-willed Parker would beat someone up.

“D-Do you really think so?” The other stuttered, mascara and eyeliner running down her face. Piper kneeled in front of the sitting girl and took her hands, staring at her earnestly.

“Parker, you know I’m your friend and I am here to soothe your doubts, but I’m also here to tell you the truth.” Her wide doe eyes widened even further, innocence radiating from the rare serious visage. “I-I mean, I don’t want to believe they would do anything, but Hannah…has been busy lately. And, well, so has Daniel…I know it’s not what you want to hear right now, but the evidence is adding up.”

“I-I was afraid of that!” Parker began to cry again and Piper wanted to snarl in exasperation. “What am I going to do?”

Harrumphing loudly, Piper stood straight. “You know what you are going to do? You are going to march up to Hannah and tell her exactly who owns Daniel. He is yours and no matter how close Hannah and you are, she should not have passed that line!”

Newly determined, Parker stood up and Piper could see the anger boiling in her eyes, “You’re right! I’m going right up to that bi-.”

The door swung open and a girl walked in, she looked familiar and it took a moment for Piper to remember her name. “Um, Sabrina right? You do the morning announcements?”
Sabrina nodded and motioned for her to follow. It was revealed that the principal had ordered them – them being everyone on the handy dandy list – to go to the auditorium. She had quickly apologized to Parker and left, hoping a good hit would be thrown whilst she was gone. Once they were all gathered, Sabrina began to lead them to the auditorium – as if they didn’t know where it was. In the auditorium, a congregation of scientists in pristine white coats and black slacks stood with hands clasped in front of them.

The head scientist or at least that is what Piper assumed, stepped forward and began a probably long, boring speech about something or another. "Welcome ladies and gentleman, thanks for showing up here today. We are producing this new project called The Changed and you guys are our handpicked selects for this project."

Piper furrowed her brows in confusion – handpicked, for what? When they offered no explanation about the program, Piper began to get suspicious. It would be bad if the principal were to hand them off to a couple of conmen, that’s for sure. Despite the small weird joke, the CEO’s daughter just shrugged off her paranoia and began to zone out until they spoke again.

"We have already contacted your parents and they are in the office waiting on you guys to say goodbye. More will be explained later. Alright? See you guys then."

Sighing, Piper dragged her feet out of the auditorium behind the fervent Sabrina. Her eyes had been trained on the phone in her hand so that must have been why she didn’t see them coming. Someone grabbed her from the back, grasping her arms tightly and she kicked and flailed and cursed and shouted, but in the end nothing worked and she was thrown into the back of the van. Her head roughly hit the wall and she rubbed it anxiously. Her heart beat fast in her chest and adrenaline pumped through her veins.

“Am I the only one that is confused about what is going on?” Sabrina – stupidly, in Piper’s opinion – asked.

“Are you kidding? We’re getting kidnapped! Kidnapped!” Piper wanted to cry and scoff at the same time. Instead, she focused on the directions they were going in, counting the turns and the minutes between each turn. However, soon it got muddled and confused and she couldn’t keep count.

Finally they were taken out of the van and lead into a cafeteria. The food they served was ignored by her in favor of scrutinizing the place in hopes she would recognize something.

Esther woke up with a start, the sunshine blaring down on her face harshly. She was filled with confusion and a slight terror of not knowing where she was. Her senses came back and she realized she had fallen asleep in her living room after she spent most of the night watching bad movies. It was a bad habit of hers, staying up at ungodly hours despite having school the next day.

“Crap! I’m late!” She cried out suddenly stumbling over her own feet in a rush, hurrying to her room to get dressed. She got ready, not bothering to even do much more with her hair other than run a hand through it. Esther was really slugging it that morning. She threw the door open to her brother’s room, who was just getting up. She threw his car keys at him as well his shoes then ran outside to wait in the car. Of course she could just run the couple blocks to the school, but it would also be easier to just get a ride.

After an unbearable few minutes of waiting, her brother entered the car on the driver’s side, looking over at his sister and rolling his eyes. “Seriously? You could have just ditched today and slept in; I doubt I would’ve noticed.”

Esther ignored him for the most part, rummaging through her bag to make sure she had the homework she was supposed to do that night. She shrugged to herself, figuring she could do it during the announcements before the teacher would collect it. “Aren’t you supposed to encourage me to stay in school?”

“And don’t do drugs,” Her brother said in a false stern voice, hitting the brakes rather too hard as they rolled up in front of the school. “And boys are gross.”

They both let out light laughs, but the air remained rather tense for a reason Esther couldn’t put her finger on. She had a hallow feeling in the pit of her stomach and felt she should take her brother’s offer and stay home. Then again, they were already here, and it would be kind of rude to have made him drive her to school for no reason. “Thanks, bro, later!” She said, getting out of the car and slamming the door, cutting off whatever he was saying. She waved over her shoulder, in a light jog so it seemed like she actually didn’t want to be late.

Esther, tired already, set her pace to a slow gait. She headed towards her English class, knowing well she’d be sent to the office for being tardy, but it cut more class time and did just that. Her English teacher wasn’t too happy with her being late the third time that week, but was distracted by the announcements done by two girls, Sabrina and another who Esther didn’t bother to learn the name of. She made her way to the office, hearing the girls go through the pledge and announcements, the office quiet aside from the two.

When they were finished, she overheard Mr. Daniels talking to that Sabrina chick, saying something about getting a list of people. Esther realized she was also on the list as Sabrina had waved at her, and Esther awkwardly followed behind as Sabrina retrieved the others.

She wondered what she was on the list for. It certainly wasn’t the honor’s roll given she hadn’t had a single A since eighth grade. The others didn’t seem to know either, that is until they shuffled into the auditorium and several people in lab coats greeted them. This confused Esther, and most likely the others, even as the scientists continued to explain what they were chosen for. What kind of project is this “The Changed”? Some kind of community plan to make the town green? Why in the world were they all picked. Maybe some sort of punishment? She glanced at the others, figuring some of they weren’t troublesome students.

“Wait, what, goodbye?” Esther repeated, tuning in and out of what the scientist was saying. “Can’t I just go home instead?” She figured she could get her brother to help her opt out of this project or whatever it was, unless he was the one who signed her up for it. She was about to make her way to the office along with the others, but rather too large men in black grabbed her before she could get too far. Esther did her best to squirm, managing to kick one of the guys in the shin, but she found herself thrown into a van before she could do much more.

She slumped against the side of the van, looking over the others’ again and their shared expressions of fear and confusion. The ride didn’t take very long, and the van suddenly stopped, causing much of them to stumble around in the back of the vehicle. The doors were opened, and they were each escorted out of the van and into a cafeteria-like room. They were then handed food and ad drink.

Esther looked down at the meal with mild interest, remembering she didn’t eat that morning and did so. She had found her way to the table, sitting away from the others as she was used to during lunch at school. Already half way through the meal she realized she should have been a bit more suspicious about the food, but figured it was too late now and shrugged.

Brookes wasn't one to talk very much. Meaning he didn't talk very much when Sabrina gathered him along with another group of people. Or when he went to the auditorium, or when he was forced into the van. It was a casual morning for him. His aunt was making a really sad breakfast as usual. Burnt toast with some orange juice. It would have to do because Brookes was in a hurry. He grabbed the toast off of the counter after guzzling down the glass of orange juice, snatched up a pair of headphones and his half charged Ipod, and ran out the door. "Damn." He whispered to himself as the bus just took off when he got outside. Scanning the area, he remembered his bike in the garage. "Oh man." He muttered as he ran for the door. A few moments later he was leading the bike through the tight doorway and onto the sidewalk. "I better get to school on time or I'll get detention again." He pulled his headphones over his ears and hopped onto the bike, taking off at full speed despite how tired he was.

By now, Brookes was used to being tired and it didn't impair him too much. It sure didn't impair him when he got to school. He threw down his bike somewhere near the bike rack and ran through the doors. Some of the people were still milling about the hallways and it gave Brookes a glimmer of hope. "Thank God." He ran as his sneakers squeaked across the floor. A moment later, he burst into his classroom right as the bell rung. He heaved a sigh of relief as the teacher gave him an angry look. "Take a seat Mr. Kingston." She hissed. Brookes' face turned red as he shuffled to his seat and got out his bags.

After the morning announcements and the pledge, Brookes was already away, doodling on his notebook as the teacher droned on about something mathematic. Math wasn't Brookes' subject and he gave up on it long ago. Now he spends most of his time in here drawing or writing. It was all he ever did now. Thinking it was about time for some music to cancel out the insistent noise coming from the teacher, he swapped out his headphones for a pair of more concealed, ear buds. He pushed them into his ear and started blasting Skillet to a point where nobody would hear and he wouldn't hear anybody. Naturally, he didn't hear it when the teacher called him up to the classroom when a girl came in asking for him to accompany her to the auditorium. He only noticed when one of his friends behind him punched him on the shoulder and pointed up. "Mr. Kingston! Now would be a nice time." She angrily hissed. "Oh. Right. Sorry." He said as his face flushed while he gathered his books.

Brookes didn't bother talking to Sabrina, he was sure she wouldn't have anything to say to him anyway, just gathering up some kids from that list in her hand he assumed. After following for a short pace, they got to the auditorium and entered. Oh how intimidating the auditorium was. Brookes had nightmares about having to go up and do something like sing for the whole school and failing terribly. But even today, the feeling he gets here is more than just uncomfortable, it's almost, sinister. When the scientists finished their say about "The Changed" Brookes' mouth went dry and his face flushed of color. "What are 'The Changed'? Are we being taken away? Would my aunt actually let this happen? Of course she would. Are we being kidnapped?" Thousands of questions raced through his head as he struggled to break free from the grasp of the men in suits.

Even when he was thrown into the van, Brookes didn't let out a word. He just winced and felt his banged knee. Of course this was happening to him, nothing ever seemed to go his way. The ride to wherever they were going wasn't pleasant. He could feel every bump and the feelings in the room were just oozing out of everyone, he could practically feel them. "If my aunt had anything to do with this, I'm going to kill her." He thought to himself as they got to their destination. The doors swung open and he had to shield his eyes from the sun.

Brookes' expression was grim when he walked into the cafeteria. He followed suit with everyone else and grabbed the food he probably wouldn't even bother to eat, and he sat down as far away as he could on from the rest on a single table. "Stuff never goes my way." He whispered to himself as he poked at his food with a fork.
