Well, that was...rather disappointing. The commander would only give him five minutes for just hand to hand? It was Felix's specialty, but he'd been hoping to manage to push Dumont into using a weapon. The fight would still be invigorating for sure, but Felix still felt rather disappointed that neither he nor Dumont would be giving it their all. Oh, well. At least he managed to get something out of the commander. But before that, he still had this assignment to deal with. Nodding as the commander paired him off with Southey, he moved over to stand next to her. To Felix, Southey was one of the more tolerable Fae on the team anyway. Well, either her or Kathrine, really. Isis and Carbon were just too damned serious all the time.
"Well, guess we should get going, then." He said to Southey. "You want to take the lead, or should I?"
Southey looked to Felix with a toothy smile, straightening her figure out as moisture poured down her skin as if she was melting away. Rather than respond to the boy, she stepped clumsily towards him, each step squishing against the hard surface at her feet and seemingly struggled to attempt not slipping just at this slow pace.
"You should take the lead Felix.. For you see, I am in no condition to navigate at the moment."
With this subtle and innocent statement, she offered the boy her hand and looked at him with widened eyes as if they were saying 'please just help me, I promise you won't die of embarrassment'. She was the senior of the group after all, second to the captain that is, but you know, she never really did act that way. Before the boy could reply however, she snapped her eyes at the others in the room, making sure none of them would make any jokes, or asses would be kicked this day.
At this, Felix just shrugged casually and took her hand. No skin off his back, really. Not that he particularly cared what any of the rest of the team thought. Oh no, he was leading a girl out by the hand. How lewd. It wasn't as if they were ten year olds. Well, except for Rinshan. And she was nowhere near interesting enough for Felix to pay much attention to. Still, with this heat, he might have to do this the whole time they were outside, and that would just be annoying. Wiping some of the sweat off of his own brow, he lead Southey outside of the compound, giving the commander a nod as he left. As soon as they were outside, Felix turned back to the girl.
"So...you alright? I'd really rather not have to drag you by the hand the whole time." He joked, cracking a smile.
Using her free forearm to wipe her forehead she looked at Felix with a flustered expression, not seeming to fully absorb the words as a joke or seriousness. And, rather than responding she simply tapped the adornment on her necklace as if she were trying to signal something. Vague as it was, she was attempting to give off the words 'Flight let's go' but in the end it looked more like a mute person hand signaling that she was unable to speak. She broke the silence quickly afterwards.
"I should be okay, the river will be nice."
Sighing, Felix nonetheless grinned and tapped the crystal attached to the bracelet on his wrist, activating his Artificial Wings. In a flash of light, sleek grey armor materialized around his body and a pair of gauntlets wrapped themselves around his hands, metal claws protruding from them. With his Wings fully manifested, he took off into the air, looking down at Southey with a tilt of his head.
"You activating yours, or do I need to drag you all the way to the river too? Either way, Isis is gonna chew us out if we take too long to catch up to her, and I'd rather not deal with her harping at me the whole time we're in the air." Felix called down, glancing over to check on the other assigned pairs.
Seeming to understand the situation she nodded, sighing and pouting while she did so. Taking a hold of her crystal she activated her own wings, the yellow and black armor quickly manifesting and adorning itself to her arms and torso. Taking a few flashy steps into the air, she hovered a few feet above Felix and looked the opposing direction of the building behind them.
"You shouldn't let her words get to you. The river sounds nice. We should look there first." Southey said this almost with complete disregard of the mission, though there was always a chance that the kid could be there. But if he wasn't, well, the river would be a nice place to cool off in the hot sun. She quickly dashed away from Felix, though halted herself as she realized that this was supposed to be a team mission-thing.
"Wait what are we doing?"
To be honest, Felix thought that was a rather good question. What were they doing? They were searching for some kid that got lost, that was obvious enough. But he had no interest in this entire affair. Some days, being a Fae was exciting and filled with actions. And on days like these, he was given crap jobs with no chance to have any fun. The only thing he had left to look forward to today was a paltry five minutes against Dumont, who would be pulling his punches anyways. But at the moment, it was rather funny how Southey seemed to literally forget what they were doing.
"Well, the river idea was a good one. You can get some water in you before you pass out, and chances are that we'll find the kid along the riverbank anyway if he's got any sense." Felix shrugged as he kept pace with Southey through the air. Reaching down to his belt, he pulled out his radio and hit the talk button.
"Felix here. We're going down to check the river. Out."
With that done, he put his radio away and glanced over at Southey with a grin.
"Well then, shall we?"
"Well, guess we should get going, then." He said to Southey. "You want to take the lead, or should I?"
