Simon panted lightly as he had finally reached the top of the seemingly never ending stairs. He had in fact done this many times before, but this was the first time that he had done so without stopping or passing out from exhaustion. Slowly, the young man turned around and looked over Death City. It was quite the view, and he always turned around to look at it ever since he had first walked up the stairs with the aid of his sister. He remembered it all so vividly and a warm smile was brought to his face. Just as the memories were flooding his brain, a soft wind picked up and moved Simon's hair as well as his beige jacket. People had called his crazy for wearing such a thing in the middle of the desert, but he was completely fine with it, and had little to no problems with the heat. When the memories finally subsided, Simon turned around slowly and faced the school that he would be attending.

Many weapons and meisters were already out on the courtyard talking to one another and forming partnerships. It was easy to find out who was who, as everyone had either a "Weapon" or "Meister" tag on them. Some of the weapons were showing off their weapon forms to the others, receiving looks of wonderment from the people around them. Simon wasn't really one to show off his weapon form, as it was very plain, and he saw no reason to show it to anyone other than the person that he hoped would be his partner. He hadn't decided on who that person would be yet, but he looked around as he stood at the top step and found a few people that could be his partner. He judged them by how that acted around others, and how they held themselves. He was now in his 'analytical mode' and he wouldn't snap out of it even if a rock was thrown at him.

Edelweiss stood, watching as the others around her bickered among themselves. She ran her fingers through her pale ginger hair and let out a small sigh. She had only gotten here a few moments ago and was already lost in the sea of Meister and Weapons.

Edel decided to hang back and watch as some of the Weapon students unleashed their forms, though she wasn't quite impressed. What she desired was a weapon that was 'gorgeous' at least through her eyes.

The pale skinned girl placed a hand over her forehead to shield her pale face from the sun. She easily burned, such a boon as well since she would be outside often. Her sloppy braids sat delicately on her shoulders as she messed around with her hair, twirling the tips with her free hand or fixing a cowlick. She had to look somewhat presentable if she were to find a partner.

Again, she let out another sigh, mostly because of boredom.

It almost hadn't been worth it to get them both here on time. Gertrud frowned at the courtyard turf, her brow wrinkling in distress. They should have just been permitted to go to class. How many years had they been a team? She looked over the crowd, watching the spectacle with a steady glare. She was happy for them, really, but just waiting as the fresh meat milled around was almost too much. Her and Simone were apart from the group, signifying that they had already formed a team, which was fine by Gertrud because she wasn't missing any of the fun those finding their partner were having. Having an old friend to rely on was more than enough, even if working together was a consistently hellish experience. With a continued glower she adjusted the tag reading "MEISTER" slapped across the front of her shirt, it had caught a fold underneath.
"They know all about us," she said, speaking up and looking to Simone. "The academy, I mean. Shouldn't they sort this out beforehand?" It was said every year by an increasingly exasperated Gertrud. A tiny voice reminded her that she wasn't even missing anything, and she reminded herself that she was supposed to be composed. Seeking a distraction, she looked over the bag laying at her feet once more, ensuring that it contained her suit, just in case, and proper stationery for academic work. Was it the sun or just nerves? The fidgeting was too tense, even for Trude. "How about you, Simone? You're absolutely sure you have everything?" Her head poked up from the duffel bag, casting an interrogating look at the Weapon.

Mary was hyperventilating around a corner of the school. There were so many males outside she wanted to scream. And not in a good way. The thought of one of them spotting her made her breath quicken. She was pale as a ghost, and was covered with a thick scarf, a sweater, and loosely fitting jeans. She would not let herself succumb to the heat, she had to hide all of her lower body from the males that continued to gather. She prayed she would be able to find a nice, female, and fantastic weapon that would suit her justly.

Mary calmed herself by looking through the massive chunk of keys that hung around her hip. She had a belt that she tied the keys to, she thought it made a pleasing noise when she walked. She hadn't figured out what they opened quite yet, but maybe it would unlock something in the DWMA? Hopefully so. She peered around the corner and paled harshly when she spotted all the boys that were around. She wasn't going to survive.

Simone sighed as he listened to Trude complain. This was a daily occurrence, always bickering about the shortcomings of others, and the lack of hindsight of plans. He decided to entertain her. "Just relax. It's not like this is a big deal." Simone said, with another exasperated sigh. Simone watched as the other Meisters and Weapons bounced around the courtyard, carrying on with there own activities. As he stood there, he played with his tag that read off as 'WEAPON'. After a moment, he torn the tag off, and let it slowly drop to the ground. "Yeah, yeah. I have everything." Simone replied, as he kicked his duffel bag. Honestly, Simone could actually be forgetting something, but he was too worried about getting Trude off his case. "Maybe you wouldn't fidget and worry so much if you went and met new people, instead of just getting your panties in a twist." Simone commented, with a sly smirk. Poking fun at Gertrud was always Simone's favorite pastime. After lackadaisical gazing around the courtyard, Simone's eyes fixed on a pale skinned ginger girl, blocking the sun from her face with a hand. "There. Maybe you can go talk to that girl about how absolutely miffed you are." Simone said, with a chuckle. Simone looked up at sky, enjoying the heat from the sun. It didn't bother him as much as it did other people, which is maybe because he had probably spent far more time in the outdoors than anyone else here.

Despite being best friends with Trude for many years, her incessant bickering always managed to entertain him. It was like watching a rabbit run circles, slowly tiring itself out over time. Being her weapon, this could take a toll on Simone, but he learned to roll with the proverbial punches. Sneaking away, zoning out, and finding ways to keep his mind from being corrupted from her constant state of worry. If Gertrud had it her way, Simone would be the 'perfect' weapon, putting everything he had into his work, and she often tried to change Simone into this 'perfect' weapon. Simone sighed as time went on. At this point, Simone just wanted the day to end, and was secretly hoping that tonight would bring some type of party that Simone could attend.

Lena stood at the edge of the crowd, she was not one to show off though she did want to with all the weapons like her displaying their forms and abilities to the Meisters, for now she was content to watch though because she knew that when the right person to be her Meister came she would feel it. She was not one to be shy, in fact she had already introduced herself to a few of the other weapons and meisters and was even approached by a few meisters but she had not met one person that she seemed to connect with, something she had found to be important while in her weapon form because of her nature, Lean was the Diamond Cannon, her weapon form taking shape of a massive artillery cannon, she needed to find someone who would be compatible with her soul because of the weight of her, if they could no resonate then her meister would have no chance of even picking her up.
Slowly she moved her way around the edge of the crowd, closer to a meister and weapon who seemed to have already paired up, the meister was a girl with black curly hair and dressed very sharply in suit with a collared shirt, it was what Lena over heard her saying that disturbed her, the meister showing impatiens with the event going on before her.
"Um... uh excuse me?"
Lena interrupted the black haired girl,
"I happened to over hear you and I got the impression that you do no understand the importance or meaning to all the new students meeting in front of the school like this, see everyone gets to socialize and know each other, if weapons and Meisters just got assigned to each other then the process would be impersonal and there is no way of telling if the two can work together without them first talking, you cannot tell me that you do not have some kind of connection with your weapon. Oh I am Lena Dragic by the way, sorry for butting in like that."

Lex tapped her feet as she walked up the stairs. There certainly were a lot here, but if that was gonna get in her way of becoming a great Meister, then she shouldn't even try. She slid up to the top, gracefully showing off. If weapons were looking for someone cool to pair up with, Lex was going to be the one. Then again, as soon as she was done showing off, she realized that she hadn't worn her pin saying whether or not she was a Meister or a weapon. She quickly dug it out of her pocket and pinned it on her jacket. She rubbed her nose and tried to walk it off nonchalantly.

Man, she was off to a bad start already. It wasn't like she was a klutz all the time, but today was a fluke. She was just so excited to be there that she forgot all about the pin. At least she'd put it in her pocket first. Man, she'd be lucky if a weapon even looked twice at her after that display. After ten minutes of wandering around and not getting their attention, I'll make them pay attention. she silently resolved. She could do this. It only took one good weapon and she'd be in.

Gertrud ignored the remarks from Simone, flinching only slightly as he tore the weapon tag from himself. She refrained from going into verbal sparring with her weapon, it was a waste of words was what she would say publicly, but he also had the better wit for retorts. He had pointed out a girl somewhere in the crowd, which she strained to see among the sea of faces. Weapons and meisters were an incredibly colorful bunch but throw a clown in a circus and they suddenly became hard to pick out. As it turned out she wasn't going to find who she was looking for. A blue haired woman stepped into her field of view, looking a shade discontented. Already? Gertrud thought, mentally bracing for the worst. Who had she crossed and how had she forgotten them? A surprising turn, her case was recent. A reminder to Trude to speak even less in public. The blue girl explained her case, Trude nodded solemnly as she did so, noting her points. She disliked arguments but felt she at least owed an explanation to the newly introduced Lena, again, not that she had anywhere else to be.
"I can't deny the importance of building the relationship between weapon and meister," She said, crossing her arms. "But then what is the rest of orientation day for? Keeping us all from work out here in the heat is a waste of all our time."
Trude sighed and looked down. It was definitely the heat causing this, great adversary that it was. She extended a hand to Lena, offering a handshake for a greeting even if it was a little old fashioned. It was also a bit of an apology, or felt like it.
"My complaining isn't changing anything anyway. Pleased to meet you Lena, I'm Gertrud Linysova, and this is Simone Mustang." She motioned to the boy standing apart from her, and resisted the urge to commentate lest the morning descend into more lively debate between her and her weapon. "Have you had any luck finding a meister yet?" Trude asked, looking back to the crowd. "The new faces seem especially lively this year." She hung on the word lively with something almost resembling distaste. It was a synonym for raucous in her dictionary.

Clayton sat on a bench as he watched many people with tags strapped to their shirts walk by, and for every single one that passed by, he slowly analyzed each and every one of them, trying to get a feel for their personality based on their overall appearance, how they walked, how they talked, and how they wore their tags, some wearing them proudly and tightly, to where it would take effort to remove, or lazily with it barely hanging on. While it might sound impressive, he really didn't accomplish anything at all doing it. In fact, a lot of people looked at him funny, sitting there on a bench leaning as far out as possible and staring at people, almost completely unblinking. He sighed a bit as he leaned back against the bench, seemed like analyzing people wasn't something that he was good at...yet. Quickly taking out a pen and a small notepad from god-knows-where he quickly scribbled something down, in his chicken scratch handwriting.

Flipping the pen around between his fingers, he continued to look at the various passerbys, this time in a much less odd way, more like a sane person. Adjusting his own MEISTER pin, he began tapping his left leg up and down on the ground in a slow, soft motion that barely created any noise. He was getting a bit impatient...After all, there had to be SOMEONE out there who could be wielded by him. "...Wonder how Alice is doing..."

Simone chuckled as Gertrud was rebuffed by the blue-haired newcomer. The two went on to talk, and when Gertrud took the liberty to introduce him, Simone gave a small wave. Simone then watched as Gertrud began her social butterfly dance, attempting to be polite and posh as possible to the newcoming, while also attempting to inject a little small talk, something he knew Gertrud wasn't the best at. Simone stuck his hands in his pockets, and zoned out for a moment. Then, without so much as a word, he walked off, deciding to let his meister and the new comer to talk it out. Simone walked past a few benches, taking his time slowly. He was looking at all the weapons showing off their powers. It was hard to admit, but Simone was jealous of them. He never got to go through the entire circus that this event was. He was pretty much destined to be Gertrud's Weapon from day one. He was also fairly jealous of some of the powers other weapons possessed. Simone eventually shrugged off the feeling. They could have their fancy weapons all they want, he had fun being what he was, and he wasn't going to aspire to be like anyone else.

Ana was walking around in the crowd filled with Weapons and Meisters. She had to admit that there were a lot of people this year, although she didn't know how many there were last year. However she heard that there always were quite some new people each year, but mostly not surpassing the twenty. Ana made some coffee, something she really needed after she had climbed the big stairs. She was lucky that she had strong legs, else walking those stairs might have been harder than it was.

She quickly glanced at the pin at her chest. Her "Weapon" pin. It was attached to the piece of clothing that was covering her breasts. To be honest she stood a bit out here concerning her clothes. She hasn't shown anyone her weapon form yet, but she also didn't want to do that already. But her tight pink nurse uniform really stood out. Some may say that the skirt could be a bit too short, but if it was covering her panties she was okay with it. And it was nice weather, so why would you wear long clothes? It was nice weather most of the time here. Ana decided to sit down on the low wall, the edge, of the school grounds. She crossed her legs and started to sip some from her coffee.

Simon had hardly moved as he analyzed the crowd from the edge of the stairs. Some people had passed him as he stood there and it on'y took a few glances at them to see that they weren't the Weapon for him. None of them seemed to have peaked his interests at all, so he still stood there as stoic as ever. A small distance from some of the larger crowds, a trio had formed with one man and two women. The ambient noise and the distance from the trio made it hard for Simon to listen into their conversation, so he decided to near them slowly to see if he could still get anything out of the conversation. As he got close enough to hear, he was only able to hear the name of the blue-haired woman. It seemed that her name was Lena Dragic... He would have to remember the name. She seemed somewhat interesting to him.

Pyrus came sprinting, his legs carrying him as he snagged a tag, pinned it to his jacket, and ran through several students. He was here finally, the DWMA the one place he felt he belonged to. He slowed down as he took in the environment. So many weapons and meisters in one place, a practical heaven. He reached into his jacket pocket and a moment later found purchase. From the pocket he removed a lighter, which he began to open and close as he looked around.

Some chose to mingle, some chose to hide, and others chose to sit and watch. Out of the corner of his eye however he noticed a girl who after fiddling with her tag, rubbed her nose, and appeared to walk by rather determined. "Interesting," he said with a grin as his hand subconsciously sparked a fire at the tip of the lighter. He followed her like a shadow, not attempting conversation or even trying to get her attention, but simply following her.

As Lex turned to see the other weapons, she caught the sight of someone following her out of the corner of her eye. She couldn't tell if he was a weapon or not, so she decided to wait and see. She strolled around the area, looking at other weapons and decided that they were show offs. Sure they all just wanted to look cool on the first day, but honestly she didn't want someone that obnoxious. At least her follower seemed quiet. After a moment's thought, she turned around to check and see who her stalker was.

She whirled around and checked the tag on his chest. "You wanna be a Death Scythe?" she asked him, and she was a little nervous to start talking to a stranger out of the blue, but her voice didn't betray her nervousness. "You want to work with me then. Besides, you look like a guy with a decent taste in music, so you'd better get used to tunes whenever we're between jobs. What do you say? Do you wanna be part of the best duo ever?" she smiled and held out her hand. She just hoped that he wouldn't be scared off by her sudden outburst. It was just that she wasn't really connecting with any other weapons yet, and that scared her. What if she failed? She couldn't fail. She had to be the best, no matter what.

Simone continued his walk, putting some distance between him and Gertrud. They might be Weapon and Meister, but the list of things they had in common was very low. As Simone looked around the courtyard, one particular thing stuck out to him: A girl in a pink nurse uniform. Simone almost tripped over his on feet when he saw the girl dressed as a nurse. From here, he could see the tag on her uniform that read 'WEAPON'. The uniform seemed to do a pretty good job leaving only a little to the imagination. After a few moments, Simone realized that he had been standing fairly still, staring at a the girl for a while now. He quickly cocked his head the other way, trying to look more natural, and less like a creep. It seemed that more and more people had found their partner, and things might be settling in now. Simone decided to start walking back towards Gertrud. She'd no doubt want him for something by this point. She couldn't go long with needing Simone to do something.

Edelweiss watched as the others began to associate with another, she felt rather uncomfortable, but she did have to tak to someone at least... She tried taking a step forward but stopped herself in her tracks. Ugh, being friendly was harder than it looked. She leaned against the wall and began messing with we braids once more, her fingers intertwining in her hair, loosening the knots in her hair.

Everyone appeared to be so occupied, she felt rude to intrude on their conversation. Edel let out a disgruntled moan and hung back, her eyes squinting as she stared at others, judging them as well as studying them.

God, it was hot and boring and it made the poor girl rather upset. She slowly grew angered by the fact that everyone wasn't as by here's by the heat as she was.
"Ugh..." Edel rolled the sleeves of her shirt up, trying to get it to its highest point.

As Simone made his way back to his Meister, he head a couple of fairly loud moans coming from his left. He turned his head and stopped, The moans were coming from a red-haired girl, with pale skin. It was obvious that the sun was bothering her. Simone let out a small chuckle, "Don't enjoy the sun?" Simone asked, with a smile. The fragile-looking girl possessed a 'MEISTER' tag on her shirt. She definitely looked very unassuming for a Meister, but sometimes the bigger punches come in smaller packages. "My name is Simone, by the way." Simone said, with another smile, and taking a few steps closer to the girl, while outstretching his hand for a handshake.

"It is nice to meet you Gertrud."
Lena smiled as she took her hand and shook it,
"I actually have not yet found a meister, I have been approached several times but I need to meet someone that will be able to handle a weapon like me."
She explained, taking a spot to stand beside the Meister as her weapon Simone wandered off. Looking at the crowd she could see that most of the weapons were already pairing up with Meisters, leaving Lena to worry that she may never find a Meister to partner up with.
"um May I ask how you met Simone? are you two senior students?"
Lena turned to Gertrud again, she was genuinely interested because she felt this was an opportunity to make some new friends.

Her attention was soon drawn to the boy he extended his hand to her. She stared at him for a moment before shaking his hand. "I'm Edelweiss," She replied, nodding her head at him, "I'm not used to the heat..." She murmured.

Finally, some small chit chat. "I'll have you know I am a very strong Meister!" She began to boast about all of her positive traits, not wanting to look puny in front of someone older than her. With her free hand, Edel pushed her braids behind her shoulder and puffed her chest out, trying to look bigger than she really was.
She knew well that she looked rather frail, because of this she may not get a weapon and she may never be desired to be a partner.

The boy was already in a team, sadly. But that doesn't mean she can't put on a little show.

Simon stood still as so much happened around him. He was still focused on the blue haired weapon and the other woman next to her. It seemed that the third member of the group left them to their own devices. She didn't find a Meister yet, and that was good, but because she had mentioned that she had denied many other Meisters, Simon believed that it would be much more difficult to befriend her and become her partner. Maybe he should join the group and see if he could get to try out her weapon form. He hoped that she would allow for him to try. Slowly, Simon took a few steps in their direction and continued to listen in.
