Name: Cassandra Martha Lariviere.
Nickname/Title: Origami Rose, Cass.
Team Title: Velvet Origami.
Gender: Female.
Age: 25.
Position: AMRO library assistant, AMRO Asylum.
Specialty: Sniffer.
Asylum Code: CI (101) on her left shoulder blade.
Alchemic Style: Sigillum (primary), Motem (secondary).
Weapons: The Vecchia Grimmoire. Less of a weapon and more of a supplement to her alchemical abilities, the Vecchia Grimmoire is an old leather tome bound with a white cover that Cassandra is rarely ever seen without. There is no writing on the cover of the book and it is locked firmly with a decorative metal band that seemingly has no keyhole. Inside the tome on almost every single page is an alchemical symbol, lovingly and painstakingly sketched onto it but never fully finished. By simply finishing off these sigils with a pen these serve as an immediate way to cast sigillum alchemy without needing to spend time crafting the entire sigil or they can act as a reminder should she need to create a sigil of a similar design.
Alchemy specialization: Chartikinesis, the manipulation of paper.
Appearance: Cassandra is a delicate looking woman of average height and particularly thin frame. Her limbs are long and her muscles are not particularly defined, making her look far younger and frailer than she actually is. Showing the classic characteristics of someone with albinism, Cassandra has eyes the colour of amethysts and her hair is a brilliant white, left to grow long and tied in a single intricate braid held together with black ribbon. She has a tiny button nose and a soft, heart shaped face with thin lips. Cass’ skin is pale, exaggerated by the white makeup she wears, and through the use of darker shades of makeup delicately applied to her face and body, usually greys and blacks to outline her features and pinks to rosy her cheeks, she is often likened to a porcelain doll in appearance.
Treating it as both her clothing and her weapon, Cassandra wears a dress. Made mostly of paper and designed by Margo who took inspiration from various cocktail dresses, Cass’ dress covers her torso and reaches down to her knees, leaving her lower legs, arms, and shoulders bare. Tiny paper flowers decorate it, reaching down in a trail from the top to the bottom of the dress on the front. Two tails of paper fall from the back of the dress which sway gently in the breeze, coiled into light swirls and decorated with more paper flowers.
When Cassandra finds herself in the heat of battle her dress serves as more than just clothing. Sheets of paper shift and change, wrapping themselves around her limbs tightly and form a suit of paper akin to that of a medieval knight. With additional paper it densifies and strengthens until it has many properties similar to steel, but with Cassandra’s alchemical abilities it is flexible and light.
Personality: Cautious and calculated, at a glance Cassandra is far better suited to spending her time working for AMRO behind the scenes in their various intelligence agencies than put up with the rigorous trials and tribulations that the typical active Asylum must put up with. Indeed she prefers to spend her time managing the AMRO library she was assigned to shortly after finishing her training, finding greater solace in the books she grew up with and the books she’s yet to read. Cass is well spoken and elegant, mature past her years and surprisingly quick witted. Despite this she is far from a social butterfly, preferring to congregate with the few she is more comfortable with. Her partner Asylum, Margo, has claimed on multiple occasions that Cass knows everything there is to know on almost any topic, especially those related to AMRO and the use of alchemy. Cass is quick to argue against this, humble to a point, but Margo’s claims are not made without evidence.
Name: Margaret Christina Locke.
Nickname/Title: Velvet Loom, Margo.
Team Title: Velvet Origami.
Gender: Female.
Age: 31.
Position: AMRO library manager, AMRO Asylum.
Specialty: Sniffer.
Asylum Code: LVII (57) on her right hip.
Alchemic Style: Motem (primary), Vocem (secondary).
Weapons: The Silken Shears. A twin pair of swords, each made of glass and reinforced with steel, then decorated with silver in an ivy pattern. The shears each have a soft curve along the blade, functioning similarly to falchions, and the edge of each sword is coated with a thin anti-alchemical material to disrupt the powers of her foes on contact. With a wide hand-guard on the hilt of each blade, one oval in shape and one circular, the shears look more like the stylised arms of a pair of scissors than they do swords. Their true power comes from their adaptability rather than raw strength, able to change form quickly and easily in only a few moments.
The first alternate form of the Silken Shears is achieved by connecting the base of the hilts together and extending the grip. This turns the shears into a staff with large bladed edges on both ends each facing in the opposite direction.
The second alternate form of the Silken Shears occurs when the blades are joined by the connection point at the top of the weapon’s hilt. The hilt guards collapse into the weapon and the hilts shorten, forming a v shape with the blades. This boomerang-like shape is ideal for throwing and with carefully applied alchemy it can easily be returned to the user’s hand after being thrown.
Alchemy specialization: Nimakinesis, the manipulation of textiles.
Appearance: Tall and with a toned, pear-shaped figure, Margaret is an exceptionally pretty woman with high cheek bones and full lips that are often curled into a devilish smile. Her nose is small and her skin is lightly tanned, entirely unblemished despite the rough work as an Asylum. Margo spends a great deal of her time ensuring that she is presentable and makeup is delicately applied, reddening her lips and darkening her long eyelashes. Her eyes are a thick, rich chocolate brown and her hair is dark blonde although Margo is known to dye her hair a different colour almost on a daily basis. It is cut to her shoulders, curled softly at the ends and always kept well maintained.
A fashionista at heart, Margo’s clothes are always of superb quality and she rarely wears the same thing more than a few times. She will alternate between elegant dresses and fashionable coats, usually the latter when out on a mission, and adores wearing leather boots with high heels or soft fur coats. Her clothing is unpredictable but always stunning, made from the finest of materials and in the latest styles. One piece of clothing that she is rarely ever seen without is a brilliant violet scarf tied loosely around her neck, an old keepsake and emergency focus for her alchemical specialisation.
Personality: Wild and quick witted, Margo matches Cassandra’s quiet and reserved demeanour with a fiery one. Passionate about alchemy and fashion, she has long learned to take pride in what one does and to enjoy every moment of it. Margo does this well, keeping up appearances with a steady hand and a casual smirk across her lips even when disaster strikes. She believes strongly in seizing the day and making the most of every opportunity, often to the behest of Cassandra who would much rather stay in with a good book. Despite this she is not rash, simply capable of making decisions quickly and on the fly, and has become the manager of an AMRO library through her intelligence alone. While occasionally vain or easily riled up, it is usually only because she has her companion’s best interests at heart.
