Arcana Magica - Summoners
Words have power, but only those born with the marks of the Magica are able to bring life to them. The Summoners, as they are commonly known, are a rare collection of people who can summon their own familiars from the aether zone of Arcana. Each summoner can have up to three summons, the first summon being the only one able to evolve into an ultimate form. Summons are classified into six types and while one summoner can have an assortment of types, only those who stick to one particular type are classified as the strongest Summoners for that type defines them as a person. Their soul element.

  • Spirit, illusion etc = Occupied by Absolute Grace

  • Air, cold, mist, storm etc = Occupied by Daxam

  • Water, ice, boil etc = Occupied by Leviathan

  • Fire, electricity, static etc = Occupied by Tiberious

  • Earth, metal, crystal etc = Occupied by Potato

  • Nature, plant, wood etc = Occupied by Side Character G

Plot:
The six characters enter a summoners battle at the Rune Arena and each face off against one opponent before moving on to the second round, a round that has never been seen before. Six contestants in a single summoners battle. As the second round begins and upon calling forth their summons, something unexpected happens. Due to the combined summon of each of the six types within close proximity of each other, the gateway between the two worlds rips open. This unnatural occurrence cannot be reversed or closed and thus both worlds are negatively impacted and if the gateway remains open then both worlds will be torn asunder. However, there is one way to close the gateway. The six contestants must band together, journey into the aether zone and find the six Arcana Lords. Only with their power will the gateway be sealed and both worlds saved.

But, was the occurrence just an accident or was the whole thing planned? Why and by who?

If you have any plot ideas, I would love to hear them :)

I am somewhat confused about the summons; initially it was stated that a Summoner can have at most four summons, however on the 'Summons' section of the CS there are summons labelled from one to five; at least I think that's what it means. Also each summon seems to have different numbers of possible abilities with the first and fifth summon being lowest and the fourth summon being highest, does that mean that the first summon should be significantly weaker than, say, the fourth summon?

Since there were mentions of what this role play was based on, I'm curious; I understand they don't lug around all their summons everywhere, but when summoning is it just a chanting of incantation or requires extra things such as a certain container or similar to release them, or their marks somehow play into this?

Speaking of marks, does the Summoner require a separate mark per summon or does the number of marks not matter?

Where would abilities such as status effects [e.g. poisoning or sleep inducing], bindings, healing etc fit into, special or defense?

Sorry about the confusion. Yes there are only four summons per summoner, however as is also stated in the first paragraph, the first summon has the capability to evolve into what I am calling the 'fifth' summon, since it will undergo some mega changes in power, appearance and personality.

Lowest= 1 and 2
Middle= 3
High= 4
Highest = 5 (the evolved form of 1)

The very first summon should definitely be much weaker than the fourth summon. I was planning on the 1st summon being the very first one that our characters summon when they were young children.Meaning that the 1st summon is low level since a child cannot expect to summon a high level summon.

This is where the whole 'words have power' thing comes into play. When a summoner calls the name of a being from the aether zone, that being is summoned forth and into the human world. And yes, the marks do come into play here, for without one even if a name is known the being cannot be summoned. The marks basically mean magic and so our characters are a tiny bit like witches, wizards and warlocks, but the only thing they can do is summon beings which are the ones who perform magic based on their type.

The number of marks doesn't matter, characters can have as many and/or as few marks as desired, but the marks must relate to the type(Spirit, Air, Water etc.)

Attack = Things like Claw strike, kick, the usage of a weapon if the summon has one, etc
Defence = Things like shield, phase, block etc
Special = Things that have something to do with the summons type so say poisoning is a special ability used by nature type summons. Bindings could be a special ability used by earth type summons etc.

I will post my characters CS soonish which will show an example of what I expect. If there are anymore questions, please ask away :)

I'm interested.

One thing I might suggest is that instead of the plot starting off with fighting, I think there should be something before that. It could be the characters interacting with each other as friends or something, or a bit of pre-fight things.

YAY!!! Hello there wonderful person X3

Yeah, I was thinking of allowing the first post to be an introduction post, kind of like a lead up to the first round. I was also thinking that our characters should be complete strangers and then over time become friends. For the moment however, they will just be contending against each other to become the overall winner of the Summoners Battle.

Hai to you too :3

That sounds like a good idea. How far would the starting fights get to before the rest starts?

Round one fights are the 1x1 battles and our characters will need to win to move on to round two. It'll be our characters vs, NPC's.

Round one is mostly just because I would like to see how characters interact with their summons, opponents, audience etc.

Username:
Side Character G
Name:
Camil Casimir Desverte
Age:
Twenty-four
Gender:
Male

Specific attributes:
Eye: Sharp teal-green eyes
Hair: Wavy and puffy, oaky-brown hair; doesn't reach below the collars of his usual attire and zero trace of facial hair.
Height: 187cm (~6'2")
Weight: 72kg (~158.7lbs)
Magica Marking:

Located on the center of Camil's amulet as well as on the back of his right hand, though this is almost always hidden from view. If it wasn't under the thick dark fabric, the mark on his hand would glow green. Trees are a symbol of stability and sturdiness with its roots deep in the earth and its bark protecting its body, which is what Camil's Nature magic tends to heavily revolve around; perhaps this is why his marking resembles it so.

Personality:
A confident and bold man, Camil usually takes on the role of the decision maker and at times acting leader of a group. His main forte however lies on the way he treats mistakes and failures as stepping stones for the better future; that is, what makes him adored as the voice of a group of people is the way he accepts people as they are and tries to find ways for them to improve or be useful.
This Nature summoner can be very vain about himself. He thinks every woman out there will at the very least take interest of his outward appearance and will not give a second thought about approaching them if he takes fancy [or bored]. This relates to his possibly flashy attire and occasional posing as well as his abhorrence to meeting anyone unprepared. On that note he has an uncanny jealousy to anyone else who gets more attention than him.

Summons:

Outfits:

History:
To Be Added

Extra:
-If there were others who were aiming to write up a Nature summoner, just say so; I had a few ideas for other summoners so I can change.
-I will fill out history and the rest of the summon's abilities after sleeping and what-not, think of this as a placeholder an checking if what i've written so far is okay.
Questions
-Does the summoners start with or can have the maximum number of summons, or do they obtain them throughout the roleplay?

CS looks awesome :)

Don't worry, Nature is yours so you don't need to change.
Alright, sleep well and everything in the CS so far is perfect.

I have been debating that question myself and have been thinking that yes, the summoners do start with the maximum number of summons. But do you think we should stick to three summons instead of four?

I personally don't mind whether the maximum number of summons are decreased or stay as is; rather i'm having more trouble thinking up abilities, especially for the evolved form, sob.

I mean this will be character driven so the number of summons shouldn't matter too much? I think.

Actually on that note, are the summoners limited to one summon out during a battle? [and if the summon is knocked out, then the next one comes in etc]

Oh, I am having trouble with that too, but not just for the evolved form but the others as well ;-;

I am loving the questions since it reminds me of the things I need to think about, keep asking/suggesting things XD

Depends on the rules of the battle, but usually it is just one summon per battle. If it is a multi summon battle then yes, the next summon will come out if the first one is knocked out.

I was thinking that possibly the characters start out with only one summon, obtain a second pretty soon after, and then the rest they have to work for throughout the rp. They would also have to train them to make them stronger (excluding the first one, although I did have an idea for that). I think both of these would help contribute to the character development quite a bit. Another idea I had was that at first, the first summon can't metamorphise (That would be the correct term :v fuck you pokemon for not using the correct term lel) unless in dire need, such as the character being in danger. However, as the rp goes on both the character and the summon learn to control it and use it on whim.

I have been thinking about that too and I don't know if I want it to go that way, but I am still tweaking the plot a little bit so I guess anything is possible. That second idea however, I absolutely adore. Good thinking X3

By the way, what type of summoner do you wish your character to be?

By the way, I wrote air before, but that was my mistake. I meant to write fire, just to avoid any complications.
