Proceed, the end awaits us

The land of Anadara in ancient beyond imagining, it’s people grow weary of the lashes of Sin. Barbarians and Wildmen ravage the lands from the northern desert lands, and the southern peoples destroy themselves in plots of jealousy and hedonism. Evil is rife in the land, betrayal and war and deceit and all manners of heresy seep from every village, town and city. The human God is long dead, his divine influence waned centuries ago, along with all his virtues of courage and goodwill. The humans are lost, their very humanity is rife for the taking; for the harvest…

The Princes of Ruin approach, drawn to the mortal world like moths to a flame, each is powerful beyond mortal comprehension, each controls their own plane of existence which is forged around their very willpower and desires. Demons pour forth from their realms into those of others as they lay siege to one another’s planes in an eternal struggle for power. Their demon hordes stretch to the horizon, from the gibbering fiends that slash at the ankles to towering monstrosities that crush castles with a single blow. Each of the Demon Gods has their own way of doing things, their own style of demon, a realm unique to them. The Princes of Ruin are the very manifestation of some sin or desire, the very essence of evil, and, although they are tied to their realms, if they were to ever set foot in the mortal world, it would surely fall in an instant.

Let us hope they never do….

Our very own Andarra has actually become quite the hustle and bustle over the last century or so. The population has increased maybe a hundred times over and civilisation has expanded to areas I once thought were uninhabitable. I find it very peculiar how men find their comfort in numbers, but they continue to. With the recent and very constant wars, castles dot the countryside now, protecting cities and their towns and villages furiously. It’s as if the idea of country is no more, but each city is it’s own state! A laughable idea, at best. The last census count, two years ago, placed the population of Anadara at… what was it? Ah yes. One billion, nine hundred and eighty million, six hundred and forty three thousand, nine hundred and seventy six. It’s too specific if you ask me.

—Scholar and Traveller, Arthur Benobias on ‘How Anadara Has Changed’

Fear the Princes of Ruin, my children. They are not forces to be trifled with, lightly or not! They will consume you if you allow them, even the utterance of their names makes the air stir and crackle with their evil. You cannot allow them to take your mind and soul from you, or you would forever be trapped in their domains! Is that what you wish? To forever wander a labyrinth of mirrors that constantly shift and stir with your every thought while the walls move within walls? Maybe you would be more at home in the dark towers of [Name Removed to protect readers] where humans are strung upon spikes and dangled over a river of souls as demon harpies pick at your flesh and eyes until you're numb with pain and beg for death. Would you like to see [Name Removed to protect readers]’s river of boiling blood carved into his landscape of bone, or [Name Removed to protect readers]’s garden of plague where the very soil leaks pus and bears sores of vile disease, where creatures spill from the ground like parasites that feast on the excrement raining from the putrid sky? Is this the fate you wish to ensure, my children? Then resist. Resist their temptation and lies and rage.

—Father Alastius and his sermon on the ‘Realms of the Princes of Ruin’.

Welcome to Ruin, a Nation Roleplay that seeks to shake things up a little. While in most role-plays of this kind you would control a mortal nation of humans or like creatures, all restricted by the clutches of time and logic, in Ruin you will as a Prince of Ruin, a dark God of immense power and evil, the very manifestation of some aspect of evil, you will design your God, your Realm, and it’s denizens and everything in between. The darker, the better. I will note that due to the very nature of a RP of this style, there will be several more mature themes depending on the types of Gods / Realms submitted. It should go without saying that everybody involved must be able to handle such things maturely.
There is not a complicated story, no background creation lore to bog you down with. All you need to know is that there are other Gods, who you probably want to conquer, and the human world which you also probably want to conquer. Your power as a Prince of Ruin is immense, you can already create armies and swarms of demons at your every whim, you already control a plane of existence, but the only way you can gain the edge over the other Princes of Ruin is through the Humans. Each God will have a different method of taking the souls of Men. A god of War or a God of Death will benefit from mindless violence and killing, a God of Deceit would benefit from scheming and tricking the humans, a God of Disease would obviously benefit from inflicting plagues and ailments on mankind. Get creative!

I thought long and hard about how the game would be played, how things work, how war is conducted and how the influence of Gods can be measured. I had to think right back to what the very essence of RPing is about, an it came own to this: In effect, this role-play is an exercise in cool writing and awesome scenarios. I’m not going to control the mortal world, that is down to you. If you want to make an incursion into Anadara, be my guest, create a city or town as you see fit, create a cult and write a really awesome post about how your minions get into the world and what they do, or you could see somebody’s post like this and you could write one about how your minions subvert the actions of another god, thereby making him loose his edge for making an incursion. Or you could write a post about laying siege to another God’s realm, forcing him to write posts about him defending himself. Write something awesome together, create a graphic, brutal war story between two Demon Gods. Impress me!
Now, there is no way to really quantify or count how much of an edge a God has over another. Let’s just leave it as this unspoken rule: The person who has a lot of successful incursions into Anadara that don’t get block-posts by another god, are going to have that little extra *oomph* in a war with another God. Other than that, it’s about writing, and I expect all people to be able to handle the game maturely and fairly. So please, please, pleeeease, don’t write a half-assed post about blocking another God’s incursion just so you can be all powerful and win, write a post blocking another’s incursion because you have a really great idea how it would be done, and could make an awesome read from it. At the end of the day, this is all about having fun and crafting a great story! Imagine it as though it were a collection of short stories that link in to one another and are all set within the same universe which we are building together over the course of the RP.
Also, just to note, the RP will be [Advanced]. I’m looking for longer posts that involve lots of detail and scheming plots and awesome tactics. If everybody is down for playing a RP like this with me, let’s get this going!

If you wish to make a Prince of Ruin to apply to be in this, use the following Sheet. Or use your own format, it doesn't matter, as long as all the information is there!

At this point in time, we have a lot of players. Applications are still being accepted, but I must ask that all potential players now PM me before designing their God so that we may discuss different domain availability to prevent too much of one 'type' of god popping up. Thanks!

Once we get some accepted sheets, we'll move all of them to an acceptance thread for easy viewing!

The world of Anadara is huge and rife for the harvest of it's lost Human denizens. The Princes of Ruin vie for control of it's inhabitants so that they may gain an edge over their brothers in the eternal conflict. But the land is not without it's own defences. Many holy orders of clerics and zealous warriors have risen up to combat the ever increasing threat, while other, more drastic cults welcome their unholy masters. It is a truly diverse world that is built by the players.

"Know me and fear me. My embrace is for all and is patient but sure. The dead can always find you. My hand is everywhere - there is no door I cannot pass, nor guardian who can withstand me." - Cyric, Lord of Bones.

The Prince
Name: Cyric (Seer-ick), The Reaper, Lord of Bones and the Dead.

Domain: Death, Fate, Law, Fear.

Description: Death is depicted as many things, Cyric's most favoured and perhaps most known and feared form is the Reaper. A skeletal figure carrying a large scythe, it's sharpened blade that reflects in the moonlight revealing dried blood adorning it's menacing blade and it's dark as midnight wooden shaft that inspires fear is Cyric's favoured weapon of choice. Clothed in a black cloak with a hood that hides most of his body from view bar his skeletal face and hands, the robes are worn and the bottom part swirl around his lower half as if it was a small tornado, giving the appearance that he hovers above the ground. If one was to get closer they would see Faces, their eyes solemn and their faces sunken swirl within the fabric of his robes, these are the souls that Cyric has claimed, those that he has saved and brought to the embrace of death. He is often seen accompanied by a pale horse named despair, Despair has a skeletal emaciated appearance, a glowing green haze emanates from within his body and his eyes glow with a similar green light as well. His skin is mostly torn and somewhat rotted with some of his bones showing, this appearance reflecting it's master.
"For what follows Death, but Despair?" - Cyric, commenting on his steed, Despair.

Cyric is described as an arrogant, sarcastic, cold and calculating prince who is resourceful and opportunistic. He often appears to be morbid and ominous towards those who speak to him, yet is also known for his cunning and lies, his words seemingly worming their way into your mind. He has seen and done many things that could be considered immoral, ranging from genocide, the destruction of entire worlds and the creation of weapons of world-ending power so much as to nothing can really phase him, or at least he feels like that. He doesn't wait for things to happen, rather, he causes them to happen.

The Realm WIP
Name: Kingdom of Bone

Description:
The embodiment of it's creator's sphere, the realm is fraught with natural disasters and destructive change. The Kingdom of Bone's landscape is barren, grey and dry, nothing grows in the realm, apart from only dead trees and bushes scattered throughout the realm, as well as plant-like growths, all dangerous to a living being in some way.
The sky is perpetually bleak and cloudy, and lightning strikes constantly throughout the realm. There is no sun in the sky, but instead a single moon and a huge black circular void where the sun should be. The land is marked by blackened ruins, bones, gravestones and Numerous buildings and altars found throughout the land, alongside more mysterious upright stones covered in mystical runes.
Large ravines also snake across the land, they are luminescent cracks in the ground throughout the realm. One who is close enough can hear to call or scream of lost souls below.

Denizens:
Tell us about the kind of monstrosities you can find in your realm, under the power of your prince. This includes the random creatures found wandering your domain, but also the kind of beasts that are enlisted into your armies. Tell us about all your troops, your greater demons, your demon champions. You can divide this all up as much as you wish, but please make sure there's a bit of detail and diversity here. You are in control of something that is more than standard human soldiers, so I expect creativity here! ;)

If anybody is lurking, but struggling for an ideas, the first few that popped into my head are as follows:

Undeath, pestilence / decay, death, war, anger / hate, deceit, desire, gluttony, greed, terror, destruction, sorcery, knowledge, murder, betrayal, madness, slavery, darkness(?), nightmares, pain, torture.

Hope they can serve as some sort of inspiration for someone.

The Daedric Princes from Elder Scrolls are also good examples, even concepts like Order or Light can be twisted into evil desires.

The Prince
Name: Ielitha Dema, Lady of Tall Shadows, the One Who Watches, the Hangman's Lady, Keeper of the Crows

Domain: Oddities, shadows, the unspeakable, retribution, punishment.

Description: Ielitha Dema is a rather odd Prince of Ruin, as she is fairly reserved and not particularly hostile by nature. Her form is fluid, and although she may often appear as a towering shadow with great antlers and a halo of pure white light, she can also be found in more mundane forms. She is immensely curious and ravenously seeks out new secrets and information, preferring to watch and learn but not interfere. The major exception to this behaviour is her glee in making bargains; if a wronged party is willing to pay a price, Ielitha Dema will exact vengeance on their behalf.

The Realm
Name: Aedora, aka the Land of Sun and Shadows

Description: At first glance, Aedora appears idyllic; gently rolling hills and far-reaching grassland broken by thin trees and crisscrossed by dirt roads, standing stones, and fences. The sun is perpetually high in the sky, though a warm and gentle breeze moves through the air. Beneath this serene exterior, though, Aedora is far more sinister. The colours seem slightly muted, the breeze dead, the sun uncaring. The trees are petrified, scarred by lightning. There are towns and cities, all dusty and run-down; it is a place of empty spaces and uncaring expanses. The only respite is the occasional storm, dark clouds sweeping in from the distant horizons and bringing with them summer rains and darkness.

Strange things, tiny bits of inherent wrongness, are scattered throughout the realm, begging to be explained but opaque to explanation.

The core of Aedora is the great and unnamed City, a rising pillar of blank walls and blocky towers that rise around a curious park like a cage. Within this park rests Ielitha Dema, where she has access to all the ancient tomes and hidden knowledge of the City.

Denizens: Aedora is home to the Shades, shadowy not-men who absorb all light, save for their swirling, burning white eyes. It is these shades who live in the cities and work the fields, speaking in hushed murmurs and preforming odd rites and rituals to their eldritch Lady. Outside of these pockets of civilization roam the Tall Shadows, strange creatures of stretched proportions and long strides, roaming the countryside. Some are harmless, others predatory. In the trees, things that look like crows but aren't flock and gather, watching passers-by with sinister intent.

There are people, too, proper people, brought to Aedora through means that they do not remember. Some live ordinary lives in towns or cities, working alongside the Shades and cowering when the Tall Shadows pass by; others have been imprisoned, and their suffering is cruel and unusual.

The Prince Of Wickedness
Name: Dahhkarmoth, the Prince of Wickedness, The Lord of Maddening

Domain:
Pride
Scaledkin "Dragons, serpents, reptiles, etcetera. Specifically dragons though.
Dominance
Thunder/Lighting
For lack of a better word, he is the Prince of taking that which is possessed by others. Technically other gods could be better at taking material possessions, his power is more spread out.

Description:
His true form is that of a horned beast. He has appendages, teethed like snakes, only their mouths are full of fangs instead of just a couple rows of two fangs. He has massive bull like legs with feet that are clawed, and he possesses enormous bat like wings. He believes that everything belongs to him, as he is very envious and self-important, but most of all he is self-important and arrogant, pompous and proud. He delights in draining the strength, and even the will to live from others, who are forced to endure aeons of living like walking corpses in his dimension, where he is the only being who has any happiness or strength. To see him in his realm is to see a horrible, terrible realization that you are next, and that he is about to tear something from you, and make you suffer, no matter how much you have already been through.

He possesses the power to will his very desire into existence through his demands and thoughts alone. He can destroy his enemies through attacking their ego, or gain power through exalting his own and growing even more arrogant and pompous. He eats some unfortunate victims alive, and those who suffer the worst fate are often those who he claims as lovers.

The Realm
Name:
Pride's Heart
(Or, the world here is also called Akk'urad).

Description: People who have died in pride, in arrogance, and were evil typically end up in Akk'urad. It is a horrific place filled with Vampires, rapists, murderers, dictators, bullies, thieves, and countless people who have become cruel through vanity and selfish ambition.
It's a massive place. . . one of the only differences from it and the other world is that it's absolutely enormous, and the very essence of the entire world drains the energy from everyone other than Dahkkarmoth, feeding him with energy. There is also a massive underworld in Akk'urad where the actual Dark god lives. There are some select few lucky individuals who can earn some form of favor from him, and they tend to live on the surface world. Also, those who are forced into becoming walking dead roam the world everywhere. Occasionally, Dahkkarmoth thinks it's funny to allow them to feast on victims who haven't died yet.

Denizens:
Vampires, skeletal minions and zombies, massive creatures made by numerous body parts, Succubi and Incubi. . . not to mention ravenous ghouls, which are like zombies, only intelligent. There are occasionally tribes of ghouls that have little societies of their own. Liches, who are mortal sorcerers who became undead for immortality and were probably destroyed. . . ended up in the Underworld as one of the few favored "citizens" of Dahkkarmoth. Vampires tend to stay in the Underworld as well. Although vampires are not effected by sun light in this world. In addition, there are prideful and arrogant dragons, who roam both the surface world and the underworld. . . fire breathing dragons are occasionally over 100 meters high inhabit either part of this realm. This world is also unique in that the surface world can contain dinosaurs in tropical climates. They are left alone from Dahkkarmoth's energy drain, as he has some use for them other than just fuel for his power source. There are also the ruins of cities on the surface world for some mysterious reason. These ruins are more dangerous than even the wilderness, and even the walking dead avoid those areas. Manifestations of people's dreams of selfishness manifest there as different forms of creature. They gain magical powers by eating the flesh of living things. People are their favorite. These monsters are known as his demons.
His mightiest demon champion, Edom is an extremely powerful demon that has eaten many enemies and has therefore acquired enormous power over the centuries.

I'm probably going to change the Domain once I think up some better words to put there. But as is 'Charity' seems to be a rather adept description.

The Prince
Name:
Ctha-Acharth'Shoa-Lloiga'Otekub'Nach-Yithath'Ub-Yiggub'Gnatholei'Dhuulmitha'Yhan'Thothu'Ub-Uran'Fthonartha'Tsathubo
Csonugdytuft
The Bountiful Wheel; The Munificent Halo; The Charitable Ring; The Beneficent Band

Domain:
Charity

Description:
Csonugdytuft's form is not set in stone, and indeed any being would be lucky to see her take the same exact form twice in their lifetime. However, despite this there is always a single constant in all her forms; it is a constant that has given her her many names. It is simply the fact that she is composed of at least a single floating ring. Most often there is more than one ring; sometimes they are apart, sometimes they are inside one another, sometimes they rotate, and sometimes the simply turn. These rings, however, are not made of any metal or stone. No, the rings are far softer and comforting than harsh rock or cold metal; the body of Csonugdytuft is made up twisted and contorted flesh and bone. Each ring is formed by bone and flesh and meat and sinew, and it is constantly shifting and flowing; mouths and eyes and faces smiling in contentment are continuously appearing and disappearing across the faces of the rings.

Csonugdytuft is not a cruel Goddess, in fact she is quite the opposite. She is akin to a caring and loving mother to those who follow her, and she wishes nothing more to spread that love to all. Her desire is to spread her Gifts to as many as she can, viewing her Gifts as great boons to the receivers and as proof of her love. She even wishes to spread them to those who do not want them, for she takes pity on their ignorance and fear of her and wants only to make them happy through her Gifts. In fact, Csonugdytuft is physically incapable of understanding that someone could honestly not desire her Gifts, she views them in a completely positive light and she has never had any complaints from those she has Gifted. The fact that perhaps her Gifts, which twist and contort and distort the bodies of lesser beings into freakish and impossible shapes, may also effect the recipients minds has never occurred to her.

The Realm
Name:
Vhlei-Yophketh'Yithachath'Bhanila'Oth-Nosha'Nothadde'Anormith'Rhanatha'Dla-Tep'Ktep'Rhu-Shadrath'Tha-Kubo
Vybonardkrt

Description:
From the moment one first steps foot inside Vybonardkrt they can tell that this is not a place constrained by the laws of mortal plane. It exists in a massive void and this void itself is a soothing white, though most people would not find the featureless whiteness soothing in any sense of the word. All of what passes for solid ground sits suspended in this great void, spread out and sitting motionless in the void as far as the eyes can see. But this 'ground' is not like the ground of most realms, it is not made up of rock or dirt. Instead, every surface of Vybonardkrt is made up of flesh and bone and while it does not shift as quickly as its mother, it does not stay static and unchanged. These surfaces themselves are all connected in some way or another, and vary widely. There are flimsy carpets of meat, floating castles of bone and sinew, halls of eyeballs and mouths, lakes of blood and bodily fluids, and tunnels akin to intestines. It has been described as appearing like as though it is a single great and massive and visceral entity as there is not a single object that appears to have been actually made.

Denizens:
The Denizens of Vybonardkrt are composed primarily of Csonugdytuft's Children and Gifted. The differences between the two are small small, and the Goddess herself views neither one more favourably than the other. The Children are the creatures created entirely by Csonugdytuft, born of her pure and unadulterated power; the Gifted are mortals who have been given her Gifts and now dwell within her realm. The Gifted's origins as humans can usually be seen despite their bodies being twisted and warped, and not all Gifted are horrifically deformed. For some, Csonugdytuft's gifts predominantly show on the inside, twisting and mutilating the Gifted's organs and interior. However, these Gifted tend to be Csonugdytuft's cultists in the Mortal realm, and few of them live in Vybonardkrt itself. So as a general rule of thumb, the Gifted inside Vybonardkrt are the most extensively mutated. The Children, however, do not show the mortal origins of the Gifted. They take any number of shapes and sizes and forms, some of which should be impossible and all of which are terrifying. For the most part these make up what could be considered the native flora and fauna of the realm, since not all of them are sentient. However, none of them harm any of the other Children or the Gifted; not even for food, since they survive by consuming the ever-growing flesh of Vybonardkrt itself. It is also worth noting that one cannot categorize the Children and Gifted into smaller groups, since no two creatures are identical; in fact, some have theorized that Vybonardkrt itself is simply a single and massive Child.
