at the moment this is still a WIP that needs a bit of organizing. If you bother to read through this, bear in mind that I still have to write three more nations.

In the beginning there was only The One God, an omnipotent being of pure energy who existed before time and matter. The One God then looked into the empty void and sought purpose, but saw none. He then split himself in two and from his halves the twin gods Euros and Meros came into existence, and their purpose was to give meaning to the void. Although Euros and Meros were born of the same spirit, they were different halves of the same piece and so both were different, and neither could see the universe in its entirety as The One God could.

Meros believed in order and absolutes, and thought the universe should exist in spirit and be eternal. He also thought the future of the universe should be predictable and set in stone, and thought all things should have a purpose, or a destiny. Euros however believed the world should be ever changing and nothing should exist in absolutes.
So the brothers went to work, each creating their own vision of what the universe should be. Meros created the heavens and hells, realms of pure spirit, to represent his belief of two ideals: a constructive force and a destructive force to oppose it, and the two equal forces would balance the void between them.

Euros, however, desired a physical world, one which would give meaning by literally filling the void, and so Euros created the stars and made them ever changing. The void gave birth to the stars, and in time the stars would return to the void; the stars would return to nothing, but be born again in an endless but ever-changing cycle. In this Euros gave the void purpose, as all things that come from the void so too return to it.

When the brother's looked at each others work, they scoffed, both believing their workings to be the superior. However, both of the brothers agreed that to finish thier work, they must regain their omnipotence. They decided that to do so, they would have to see things through many eyes, just as their own. Meros, believing everything could exist in absolutes, created the spirits of angels and demons to represent the constructive and destructive forces in the universe: good and evil. He gave them homes in heaven and hell, and called his work complete. Through their eyes he could see the good or evil in all things.

Euros saw his brothers creations, and then went to work creating his own. Euros desired a material world, a new world of senses, and so he gave the stars their warmth and allowed them to grow brighter, other stars however he allowed to dim, and once they dimmed Euros created life from from the dust of the star. He watched as the warmth from the brighter stars gave energy to his creations, and then he went to work molding and shaping them into all assortments of things. He created trees, fish and deer, but finally he created humans. Like his brother, he created humans to represent the destructive and constructive forces of the universe, but unlike his brother he gave his creations the ability to understand both good and evil, but be bound them to neither. Instead he gave humans the capacity for both great good and evil, so that they might never be bound to one or the other.

When Meros saw what his brother had created, he could not comprehend them, and the chaotic and unpredictable nature of humans disgusted him. So he struck out against his brothers creations and began to kill them off, believing humans because they were tied to neither good nor evil, upset the balance. Angered by his brothers actions, and sympathetic for his creations, Euros sought to protect his creations, and so Euros gave them the ability to reproduce, so that thier kind may never die out. Euros then created a barrier between the physical realm and the realm of his brother, and finally the god sacrificed his divinity and fell to the Earth as a human, so that if his brother wanted to kill his creations he must kill him as well.

Meros watched his brother fall, but being only a half of The One God, he could not restore his other half nor cross the barrier Euros had created. Struck with grief Meros sacrificed his own divinity to create a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms, and he gave every human a spiritual counterpart, so that even as humans might die their souls would live forever, and in this way Meros would never truly lose his brother.

__________________________________The Inciting Incident _____________________________________

Twenty-four years ago Necromancy was born into the world, as Malfear began his rise to power. The exact origins of Malfear, and the cause for his war against the Five Kingdoms Is known only to the few mages whom survived the initial onslaught.

It is rumored that Malfear was once a mage in service of the tower with a lover, but Malfear grew dangerous and destructive with corruption, believed to have tampered in the arts of demonology. The Mages of the Tower were forced to act against Malfear, and skirmish Malfear came out victorious, but his lover lay dead. In grief, Malfear stabbed his own heart next to the corpse of his lover, wishing to end his life. Yet somehow, the mechanics of which are unknown to even the Archmages, Malfear did not die, yet instead was the first man to wade the river Styx. He returned from the river a necromancer, but unable to save his lover. From this point forward he took on a vendetta against the Tower and Arch mages and began to slay his former companions, raising them as minions to do his bidding.

Unable to deal with the growing power of Malfear, the Circle convinced the Valean king of this new threat, one which the king himself had first failed to comprehend, and the king dispatched an army to deal with the necromancer. The army quickly caught Malfear's small force, easily dispatched them and burnt the corpses, but Malfear's own corpse was nowhere to be found.

Five years later (18 years ago) Malfear reemerged, this time he marched from the Caspian mountains with a massive army of both undead and uncivilized brutes from the tribes beyond the mountains. He easily laid waste to all in his path, and as he met with the Valean forces he brutally overpowered them, and after each battle his forces only grew stronger as he gave new life to the fallen by the thousands.

Malfear fought his way to the Ivory Tower and laid siege to the ancient tower. Within three days the great tower was reduced to rubble and slew its occupants, with only Archmage Lyana, Tyleal, and a handful of mages and guardians escaping his wrath. He then set his gaze upon the Valean city of Oslo and the royal throne. Valean armies tried relentlessly to halt his advance, but Malfear proved too powerful. King Aleas of Valeal recognized he alone could not stop the advance, and so he sent word to his Gorgon allies, to which the Gorgon King, King Garren Blackwater, responded with an army which rivaled Malfear's own. In two years (16 years ago) The Gorgon and Valean kings pushed Malfear back, and as Malfear began to remove his armies into the Ferronian homeland victory seemed a hammer stroke away.

However, before the final blow could be stroke word reached King Garren of treacherous nobles in his own lands, that they had claimed the throne for themselves and slain the royal family. Furious King Garren abandoned the campaign, against the advising of King Aleal, deal with the traitors in his own lands.

King Aleal dare not pursue Malfear now that Malfear's force once more outnumbered his own. Instead the Valean king issued a warning to the King of Ferros and withdrew his forces, unwilling to commit his own armies for the sake of a rival kingdom. It was Ferros that waged a bloody five year war against Malfear, and only Kain came to their aid, though at great cost of both gold and land. Eleven years ago the last remnants of Malfear's forces were crushed, Malfear was proclaimed dead. The war became known as The War of the Blight, and in the aftermath of the war tensions between the kingdoms has never been higher, and the fear of magic has never been more widespread.

Most believe Malfear dead, but there are dark whispers of Malfear's return, and now more then ever the Five Kingdoms are divided. Can the Kingdoms put thier squabbles aside to face a bigger threat, or will Malfear's undead armies tear them apart.











Standard RP rules apply. I predict this to be a slower paced RP, so expect that coming in.

What do you have in mind as far as plot goes? I really love what you have going so far (very Dragon Age like, which is awesome and I'm a sucker for well developed worlds), but I don't want to officially throw my hat into the ring without knowing the basis of the story.

Basically there's a whole lot of turmoil and war going on that is ripping the Kingdoms apart, and on top of that there are threats of Malfear's return, but everyone has thier own agenda so it's very unlikely for the Nations to unite for any cause. I plan on Malfear's threat being only a side element to the stories plot, and more or less used as an excuse for some players to draw together and what not. If you want to imagine the RP in arc, then the Undead Invasion would be the first arc, and subsequent arcs would revolve around the players decisions and bios.

I very much intend for the plot of this story to be player driven, which is why I ask you go as detailed as you can in your characters bio/history. The more you tell me about your characters the better I can tailor the story.

So, would it be horribly presumptuous of me to ask some ideas people have for character(s)? It just be nice to skip over that awkward "Oh, hai, nice to meet you" phase so that we could actually incorporate the types of relationships our characters will have with each other right off the bat.

The Abhorsen Trilogy? I suppose the Necromancy aspect is slightly similar to the River of Death, but I'm not so sure about any other similarities. You're right though. Great books.

I'm definitely going to wait to get the information from the other three kingdoms before making a solid skeleton to work off of, but as of now I plan on going the Guardian route, most likely of the female variety. As odd as it may sound, I like to play non-magic users in magic centric RPs. So if anyone plans on having a veteran tower mage and wants to perhaps collaborate a partnership between characters I'd be all for it.

I've drawn influences from a lot of books. The Wheel of Time for the Ivory Tower, the Abhorsen Series for the necromancy... etc, but yeah I really enjoyed Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen as a kid.

I added Ferros and took out Allegiances. I didn't think it made sense to have your character pledge thier loyalty when I want one of the main driving points of this RP to be 'You never know whose on your side'. All the information that was detailed in those little sections will be exposed in the actual RP. I'm working on Valaria next, and I still need to refine a lot of things but there are some key things I want you all to know as you plan your characters.

- Women in Gorgon, Valaria and Valeal arn't treated as equals. You can still make a female knight or any kind of female character you want, but expect your character to face prejudices a male counterpart won't face.

- Women in Kain, Ferros and of the Ivory Tower are treated as equals.

- Every Kingdom has it's conflicts.

- Gorgon's current conflict is one of right to rule. Some think it is in Gorgons interest for House Briar to be on the throne while others believe House Blackwater needs to be restored as the rightful rulers. More on this will be expounded upon in the RP, but the main jist is that Gorgon is in a Succession Crises.

- The Order of the Rose is causing a lot of problems in Valeal for the Circle of Magi, and the kings stance in all of this is dubious. The main conflict in Valeal will be the distrust of magic. (It's important to note that magic isn't exactly trusted anywhere, but Valeal is openly starting to move against it thanks to Malfear)

- Valaria is of course fighting for its independence against Valeal.. The noble houses (the guys with the professional soldiers) want one among thier own to be crowned should independence be won, the other movement (known as the people's army) wants to place one of thier own on the Throne, someone not of noble blood. Kind of like a big F U to nobility. Ferros wants to join against Valeal, because they fucking hate Valeal, but they only want to join if they know they are going to win and right now Valaria is too torn between themselves to have a chance.

- Ferros of course is somewhat straight forward. They're just itching to go to war. Ferros itself will have some inner conflict, the exact details of which are being saved for the RP.

- In the Necromancy section I removed the bits about the orbs falling to the sky, the screams at the gate of fire and the heat of the gate. Just think of the Gate of Fire as the last step before death, a step that everyone takes, but as Necromancers you want to conquer death, not be pulled under by it.

After work tonight I'm going to try to get Kain done, then by tomorrow we'll just be waiting on a few more people before we get rolling. I'd like to have around 10 people before we get things started. If everyone who expressed interest in here so far commits, we'll already have 7. Once the OOC goes up i'll go into greater details about the current events unfolding in the Five Kingdoms, then from there you can choose where you want your character(s) to start.

I've already decided I'll allow players to have up to three characters, although I strongly recommend you only create one to start with. Once things get rolling and we get comfortable you can make more as you deem fit. Also, if you elect to make more than one character I expect you to be able to keep up with all of your characters and flesh them out. Quality over quantity. Also, PLEASE don't do that thing where people have their own characters group up but ignore everyone else, I hate that. Try to keep the characters you create separate from one another.

I also added a small info update:

"However, in light of the Valerian rebellion, The Archmage of Ferros has withdrawn from the tower, and Ferros has ceased sending potential candidates to the tower believing that the Circle of Magi favors their Valean hosts, and are unwilling to send their own people into potentially hostile lands. The Ferronian Archmage's withdrawal has hindered Ferronian - Vallean relations, with Ferronian leadership citing young mages graduating from the Tower have been pledging loyalty to Valean efforts at a staggering rate, leading Ferros to believe the Tower has begun to pick sides."

If you've already read the section concerning Mages of the Tower, you'll know that mages from all the kingdoms are sent there to train them in the proper handling of magic. Mages who choose to sweat fealty to the tower are taught Mystos and abandon all loyalties outside of the tower (in practice), but Mages who return to there homelands often choose to swear feality to thier leige lords for a chance of a better life.

Well Ferros has stopped sending potential mages to the Tower for various reasons that will be discussed in the RP.

Sweet, thanks for the update. I'm also assuming that they're be a number of "filler" characters, or NPCs. You're not counting them as characters, correct?
