Lydia nodded. "A strange man came to our village and one night mommy and daddy wouldn't wake up. I was scared and I ran and the man caught me. He did something to my neck and it hurt. When I woke up everyone was gone. Larkin found me in the forest and he's been my big brother ever since!" The little girl finished with a big smile.

Bernard ruffled Lydia's hair "well that was very sweet of him! He must love you" He looked away "my mom and dad never really wanted me." A tear appeared in his eye

Lydia glanced up at Bernard and saw the tear. She gently placed Larkin's head on the floor and stood up, hugging the other boy. "It's ok! You can be my friend! I've never had a friend before! Oh, what's your favorite color? Mine's purple! Do you like dogs? I've always wanted one but Larkin will never get me one." Lydia said, rambling like only a child could.

Bernard smiled "thanks kid. I owe ya one." He would enjoy having a new friend. suddenly his face face lit up "Lydia I think I can wake up Larkin!"

Lydia tilted her to the side in curiosity. "How? He's really hard to wake up. Normally I have to pull the covers off him in the morning." She said.

Bernard gave some CPR in the hope that it would work "oh how I hate mouth to mouth!" He saw Larkin's eyes start to open "ha! It worked it worked I'm so Awsome!"

Lydia gave Bernard a curious look, because to her, it looked like he just kissed her brother. She shrugged though, not really caring if he had. Larkin blinked his eyes open, the first thing coming into focus was that guy from earlier. He was distracted however by a small figure throwing itself on top of him. Larkin struggled to sit up, arms full of Lydia as she hugged her brother tightly. The demon body held her at arms length, quickly checking her own for signs of injury but when he found none he relaxed slightly and cradled his sister to his chest, soothingly stroking her hair as he regarded the other two occupants of the room.

Bernard groaned "I did not just kiss you I did CPR! But hey at least my new friends happy!" He grinned "I'm Bernard the cyclops!"

"Wow that was impressive." Liz watched the whole thing curiously. She could have done CPR if she had been thinking straight. "I can't believe they brought someone so young to a place like this."

Bernard shrugged "that's what they do! Trust me it's their Job!"

"Larkin." He said curtly, looking at Lydia was happily curled against his chest. Now that all the excitement had worn off, the little girl had started to drift off. Larkin rocked her back and forth slightly, humming quietly as he stroked her hair gently.

Bernard smiled. "Guys I think I know how we can escape!"

Larkin glanced up at Bernard and raised an eyebrow, signaling that he was listening. Lydia was now completely knocked out, dozing against her brothers chest.

Bernard said "listen tomorrow scientists will come and get us if we knock the out and dress like them we will make it to the exit and we can steal food and water from this stinking asylum!"

"Really?" Liz asked excitedly. She was ready to get out of here. She had only been locked away a few months but she was tired of being here. Tired of the abuse and torture. "Do you have a solid plan?"

"We all look young though and the scientists are men well into their 30's. Don't you think someone will notice? And besides, we are the only four here; all the scientists here know what we look like." Larkin stated plainly.

Bernard gritted his teeth "well if you have a better idea why don't you share it with the class?"

"She is right. The three of us might be able to pretend to be guards. But I doubt we would fool anyone. We are all the wrong size. I think we need to find another way out. There has to be hidden path ways or something we can use." Liz stated.

Bernard nodded his head "that could work! Great idea lets say it was mine!" He said proudly "I think I know a secret passage underneath the guard rec room!" He folded his arms with a triumphant expression.

Liz looks at Bernard like he was a few screws short. How could he possibly know something like that? "How do we get from here to there?"
