Bleach: Ghosts

Welcome! This is an original Bleach RP that is set sometime after the events of Aizen and his betrayal. The twist to this RP that makes it unique is the fact that whilst we will be playing as Shinigami, we are not members of the Gotei 13. Whats more, were invading. The plot will be explained in detail below but for now thanks for taking an interest and I hope you feel it's good enough to join or you simply have a good read because I've set this out to be more of a spectacle than a glorified arena RP.
Gorou Nobunaga, the lost Shinigami

Almost a millennium ago Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni was to be placed at the head of Squad one, to become the Captain Commander of the thirteen court guard squads. The appointment was to the surprise of no one and it was predicted by many that he would become one of the most powerful men to ever sit atop the Seireitei. Become. It was only said because he was not yet the most powerful, because there was another. Gorou Nobunaga. The man was infamous, his power had become legend as would the captain commanders. Nobunaga however powerful he might have been, was not approached for the position of Captain commander for he was deemed an 'unstable entity'. The members of central 46 did not trust him from the beginning but the reason they did not act was due to his volatile nature, and a man with that much power and such short a fuse would not take kindly to the sanctions central 46 would have placed upon him.
Their worries were about to be put to rest however. The ceremony was complete and the newly christened captain commander Yamamoto was to give his first edict as the head of the Gotei squads. To strip the rank and status of the Shinigami Gorou Nobunaga, to imprison him. Stares of surprise and concern were seen on almost every face in the crowd, but once face was still, calm. Nobunaga himself took his sword from his side, he stepped towards the Captain commander as the surrounding Captains prepared to draw in anticipation of the fight that would ensue Yamamoto's order. Nobunaga did not draw however, he fell to one knee and raised his sheathed sword to Yamamoto, "So be it" he said before he was escorted from Sokyoko hill.

The news spread in moments and whilst the majority were in favor of the mans imprisonment a particular minority was not. Nobunaga's squad. After fighting tooth and nail with the central 46 they were brought to their knees in reluctance, they could not do a thing, they could not save their beloved Captain. Soon after several members of Nobunaga's squad disappeared from the Seireitei, and after searches were unsuccessful it was clear they were not even in soul society.

Modern Day - Karakura Town

- Character creation + cast -

Jakakumei (邪革命 – wordplay meaning ‘revolution of vengeful ghosts’) are a group of rogue Shinigami who are called “The Jacks” by locals. They are known for their stealthy demeanor and wearing masks. Although their members are not regulated strictly in regards to uniform, they are all required to wear a blue robe and carry a personal mask.

The Jakakumei were formed after the imprisonment of Gorou Nobunaga, a former captain of the Gotei 13, by captain Yamamoto himself. His squad put up resistance to the act, but eventually had to flee from Seireitei. These Shinigami and their descendants are the members of Jakakumei, and now call the Rukon-district their home.

- Name -
Hideyoshi Saito

- Appearance -

- Personality -

- History -
Hideyoshi was there, almost a millennium ago. The blasphemy of Captain commander Yamamoto and the imprisonment of his beloved captain.

- Shikai -
Gyokaku, Buraindosasori (Catch, Blind Scorpion)

Sheathing his Zanpakuto and calling it's name releases Buraindosasori, after which extremely loud bells can be heard by all in the vicinity of his Reiatsu before Hideyoshi re-draws his transformed Zanpakuto. Buraindosasori takes the form of a small single handed sickle with a curved handle that evolves into the curved blade.

Buraindosasori is a unique Zanpakuto in as much that it primary a poison type Zanpakuto, yet it's poison is described to have Kido type abilities. The poison which takes the form of an incredibly thin layer of liquid that cotes the blades edges is secreted over time by the sword itself, allowing it to replenish and to deliver higher doses the more strikes are landed. The potent toxin has three stages and each stage can be activated by Hideyoshi.

- Kanken (First Sting) -
Kanken is a worrying but ultimately harmless first stage of the poisons effects. The victim will find that they begin to slur their speech and when they increase in adrenaline will start to see double. This does no harm to the opponents but with the quick nature of Buraindosasori's attacks they might struggle. If the victim allows the poison to settle for too long it has been known that it prevents speech all together.

- Nibanken (Second Sting) -
The second stage of Buraindosasori's poison is much more potent as it induces physical disorientation. Weakness of limbs and at times excruciating muscle cramps are the prominent feature of Nibanken whilst slow senses have also been a noted effect. This is an even more severe attack on the victims body allowing Hideyoshi to abuse their weakened state and attack quickly and precisely, it makes battle a very tough and arduous task and forces most to either surrender or retreat.

- Chishiken (Fatal Sting) -
This is Buraindosasori's Cout-de-gras whilst in Shikai and has an utterly terrifying effect which Hideyoshi likes to explain as it takes hold: "Our brains come equipped with a self-preservation mechanism that stops us doing stupid things that we know will harm us. This is because of electrochemical signals in the brain sent by neurotransmitters among other things. The toxin Buraindosasori secretes however blocks specific neurotransmitters, in a specific order, which flips your brains preservation switch.
Some poisons have the ability to cause hallucinations, some asphyxiation and I've even heard of ones that completely paralyze the victim. Buraindosasori though, simply put, makes you want to kill yourself."

- Bankai -

Unknown

- Other Skills -

Hideyoshi has exceptional speed with which he attacks, using flash step his most favored techniques are ones that allow him to strike at peculiar angles close to the opponents body giving them little chance of blocking whilst also putting himself at risk by getting very close.

(( Putting this up now before I head out for a few hours. If anything needs to be changed/added/removed, let me know and I'll see to it once I get back.

Also: I set my character's level at Lieutenant for now. If it seems like there's plenty of people wanting to take Lieutenant positions I can 'promote' her to captain level, but otherwise I'm fine keeping her as-is))

Name: Togame, Yui

Gender: Female

Apperance: Togame is short, standing roughly 5'4", with tanned, olive-tinted skin and dark eyes. Her hair is a light brown, falling loosely to her shoulders, framing a face hardened by years upon years of training. A trio of pale scars mark her face, one across the bridge of her nose, one down her jawline on the right side of her face, and the final running from the right side of her mouth up towards her ear.

She is commonly seen wearing a dark blue robe opened slightly to reveal the top of a silver Sarashi covering her chest. Her right hand is covered in a glove of white cloth that runs up beneath the sleeve of her robe. Her left sleeve has been removed, the robe ending at her shoulder and capped with white cloth, leaving her left hand and arm exposed. In addition, she wears the simple sandals and white socks of a typical shinigami, as well as a silver sash that binds her robe about her waist. Her mask is a simple affair, pure white with a line of rich blue running straight down the middle, ending in a pair of painted lips.

Togame almost always has her sword released, and so is typically seen with her left hand and arm wrapped in metallic ribbons up to her shoulder. The ends of these ribbons fall down to her waist, wrapping together into a tight cord that ends in the pommel of a short blade slipped into her sash. The blade itself has no wrapping or guard, the sudden tapering of it's sharpened edge the only indication of where the handle ends and blade begins.

Personality: Togame bears a polite, empathetic demeanor, beneath with lies a consuming passion for the challenge of combat. Upbeat, friendly, and fiercely loyal to her fellow squad members who defected so long ago, she constantly strives to improve herself by seeking out fight after fight. It's common for her to answer insults with a challenge to duel, or simply suggest a fight in order to pass the time. In her eyes, a stronger opponent simply means a greater challenge to learn from, and a greater reward should she emerge victorious.

Togame bears no strong ill will towards the shinigami of Seireitei, but considers their imprisonment of Gorou Nobunaga to be an injustice that must be set right. With so many years having passed, she only blames those who still rule Seireitei, and hopes that their followers do not have to suffer for sins they never knew had been committed.

However, if she has to fight some of the stronger shinigami of Seireitei during their task to free Nobunaga... well... you won't hear her complaining.

History: Togame Yui was a promising soul picked up by Nobunaga's exiled squad years ago from the upper northern districts of Rukongai. Her proficiency at Kido and love of a challenge made her a promising student, and she proved her worth time and again as the years passed.

Feeling his squad was the one who saved her from a meaningless life, showing her instead a world of challenge and reward, Togame feels a sense of loyalty to Gorou Nobunaga, even though she has never met him. The stories told by the origional members of the Jakakumei have convinced her of both his strength and the injustice of his imprisonment, and she works eagerly to see him set free. She since trained for years alongside her fellow squad members in pursuit of that very goal, rising to a level that rivals the lieutenants of Yamamoto's Gotei 13.

Sword: 'Daughter of Medusa' ('Kurage no Musume', if Google translate is to be trusted)

When sealed, Her sword is a wakizashi-styled blade sheathed on her hip with no guard or wrapping, appearing as if her blade had never been completed.

Divide and flow, Kurage no Musume

Upon release, her sword unravels into a host of sharpened, metallic ribbons that immediately wrap themselves about her left arm, their ends writhing out past her shoulder when unused. She typically keeps her sword released, and forms the ends into a mimicry of her sword's sealed state when at rest.

Sword Abilities:

-Adaptive Ribbons:
Togame can control the ribbon ends of her released sword mentally, as an extension of her own body. They can be used to lash out at or bind an enemy, grab hold of objects, and even form weapons, shields or simple armor. The sharpened ribbons themselves are typically only capable of inflicting minor wounds, and her constructs can be 'unraveled' by a strong blow or energy strike, but it's strength lies in adaptability and fluidity of change. In combat, Togame uses the ribbons of her sword to constantly keep her opponent off-balance, alternating swiftly between attack and defense, adapting her fighting style to better counter her opponent's, and slowly wearing them down with a continuous barrage of lacerating strikes.

Spiritual Resonance:
Additionally, Togame's sword resonates with and magnifies her own reiatsu, allowing her to cast kido with greater speed and efficiency. She can also combine her skill at Kido with her weapon's changing nature and spiritual resonance to allow her to use offensive and defensive techniques in new and inventive ways.

Bankai: (Currently none, Togame's level is closer to that of a lieutenant than a captain)

Other Skills:

-Martial Prowess: In line with her sword's abilities, Togame is skilled in fighting with a variety of weapons, and is especially adept at hand-to-hand combat. She is a fast and agile fighter, preferring brief skirmishes and light trades of blows to full head-on combat.

-Spiritual Prowess: Togame is skilled at Kido, and thanks to her sword's abilities is able to manifest most low-mid level Kido (up to mid 50s) without an incantation, and higher kido (high 60s) with an incantation.

Looking good Derren. One thing that you've brought to my attention is that we would all be ancient if we were in Nobunaga's squad. Now we can either choose to simply ignore this :P or we can be considered quite old. We don't have to be Yamamoto level but think similar to Koryaku but a bit older. A third option is available though that if people want to be the descendants of the original squad members that would be cool, plus it means they can be seen without masks so could add another dimension.

In terms of your CS Derren you don't have to change your origin since you've already done it, just thought the descendant thing fits her really well. Power level she is great so unless you want to add anything else I would say accepted :)

Name: Ubauchi Akio
Age: 371 years old (equivalent to late thirties)
Gender: Male

Appearance:
Akio looks like a human in the start of his late thirties. He is about 6 feet tall and has a slender build and has a moderate muscle definition. His skin is a bit on the pale side, but not overly so. He has broad shoulders despite his otherwise skinny appearance, and has quite large hands. His body has a clean look, with very few scars and blemishes. At first glance, you would not think he was a soldier.

To go with his light skin-tone, Akio has quite a light hue of blond hair. He wears it very short, but a bit longer in the front. Despite his frail look, his hair is pretty thick. He also has a thick mustache, which he grooms properly for a pleasant look. His eyes are a bit on the small side, giving him a sort of skeptical impression. His eyes are a deep grey-ish brown.

Ubauchi Akio has been a member of the Jakakumei for a long time, and so at this point always wears the traditional uniform, which is a blue robe. Even though he buttons up his robe completely, not revealing much more than his neck, he wears a dull gray shirt underneath. He carries his Zanpakuto in its sealed form in a sheath at his waist, aside his mask. Akio’s mask is gray and covers his whole face except his mouth. It mimics the head of a fly, with big round eyes of glass stained white and a mouth-piece which is long and pointy.
(Maybe I’ll draw a picture later)

Personality:
Akio is curious and enthusiastic, but dishonest and sly. Some would say he was born to be a scientist or even an adventurer, although this never happened. He loves knowledge to the point where he will often go out of his way to get a hold of it, and is one that asks questions a lot. However, there is also a darker side to this. Akio will often lie and cheat to get to know sensitive information. You could say that this makes him more suited to be a spy rather than a scientist. Regardless, these attributes are what truly define him.

Akio's motivation to be a part of the Jakakumei is complicated, but is best understood if split into two reasons. You see, while he aspired to be part of Nobunaga's squad one day, he never came that far. After all, he never graduated the Shinigami Academy. However, Nobunaga was his greatest idol. In young Akio's opinion, he was the greatest captain among the Gotei 13, possibly even the greatest ever to come by. He was enraged at the thought of his idol being imprisoned for all eternity. This is one of the reasons why Akio joined the Jacks. The other reason was that, even at that age, observing Seireitei from the outside seemed like the perfect chance to become a truly brilliant Shinigami. Training not only for combat versus hollows, but also versus fellow death gods was something that could build Akio as a fighter and as a strategist.

History:
Ubauchi Akio was always a bit special. Many people thought that he was a broken soul - a disturbed boy. At a young age, he displayed no interest towards fellow human beings and would only play alone, even without toys. He much preferred to observe the world, investigate unknown objects and discover new activities. He was deemed autistic by the doctors in the Rukon district, but his parents frowned upon this. What their son had was obviously a great gift! He was intelligent beyond compare, and his brain had to find a use.

The parents sent him off to the Shinigami Academy using a very big part of their savings, and so his training begun. It became swiftly apparent that Akio excelled in the theoretic subjects, such as strategy, healing and even Kido. but he was lacking in physical training, especially in handling a sword. He struggled with things like Shunpo as well. Akio was getting demotivated, and after a while only a single reason remained for him to stay at the Academy - his parents' investment. All that work could not go to waste. Still, training was only getting tougher.

One day though, his battle training session was interrupted by a visitor. It was Captain Gorou Nobunaga who had come to see the youngsters train. This man spoke calmly and reassuringly, but his reiatsu revealed a different truth. This man was monstrously strong, and yet he was so calm and friendly. This man grew in Akio's mind to be his idol. It became his goal to serve him one day. Nobunaga wanted to see their training however, so Akio had to battle a classmate before him. And on that day, Akio was utterly humiliated in front of his hero. Battle was not his forte, after all. After that, Akio's motivation grew a hundredfold, and it became his goal to train his weaknesses until they were on par with his strengths.

The student was well on his way months later, when he heard the news. Gorou Nobunaga, his hero and idol; a god in his eyes, had been sentenced to the depths of captivity. And all this because of his Zanpakuto, the very ability that defined him as a Shinigami. Akio was crushed. He fled the academy and out of Seireitei's walls until it was far enough away for him to calm down. And just then, while taking deep breaths, his brethren of thought met him. Nobunaga's former squad had, just like him, fled Seireitei. And just like that, Akio became one of the members of Jakakumei. And since then, he has trained and grown up to be a rogue that should be feared.

Zanpakuto:
Kaiganukyo (literally ‘torch that reveals the truth’) is Akio's Zanpakuto. It is quite a long blade, the length of an odachi, and curved in the traditional way. The metal of the blade is quite pale, especially closer to the tip. The guard is small and round, extending forward over the wielder's hand making an oval. It is made of a bluish grey wood. The hilt is long to match the blade, and wrapped in completely white silk, so shiny that the hilt almost appears chrome. The pommel is small and made of the same wood as the guard. Kaiganukyo's sheath is wrapped in completely white silk as well, but with two metal bands around it close to the opening.

Shikai:
"Read, Kaiganukyo!" (Yomu, Kaiganukyo) Akio commands as he lays the blade over his shoulder with the edge up, and holds his sheath with the other hand at his waist. This awakens Kaiganukyo into Shikai, the released state. In this state, it is no longer a sword. The sword transforms into a lance which is slightly shorter than the blade was while dormant. It glows strongly with a brilliant white light and has ornaments some places on the surface. The hilt is now much longer and rounder so that Kaiganukyo can be wielded properly. What was formerly the sheath has now transformed into a thick book, shining with the same white light as the lance. The tome hangs in a band, with the same glow, across Akio's shoulder and chest. The lance and the book are linked together by a long, fine chain which also, not surprisingly, has the same intense glow. So to summarize, in released form Kaiganukyo is a lance combined with a tome by chain, glowing intensely with a white light.

Kaiganukyo's special powers are mainly two. Firstly, it can shoot a column of white light from the lance's stinger which does not harm the inflicted, but blinds him for a short duration. The main power, though, is the weapon's ability to absorb information from what is struck by the lance, through the book. Whatever Kaiganukyo strikes, Akio steals knowledge from, beginning first with the superficial facts before digging deeper with every blow. If another Zanpakuto crosses blades with Kaiganukyo, Akio instantly learns of the blade's power, including the forms it can take. If Kaiganukyo strikes another person, Akio learns whatever the opponent knows, starting with banal information and then reaching the dark secrets as the strikes progress. This makes Akio a fearsome opponent and a fatal spy.

Bankai: Not yet obtained

Other Skills:
Having crossed blades with many Shinigami before with Kaiganukyo in Shikai, Akio has learned a wide variety of Kido. Therefore, his repertoire with these spells is on par with a captain or even better. However, he does not possess the Reiatsu to cast the most advanced ones, even if he knows the words.

Ok so, I've finished my guys Shikai and it's very...different. I'd like to get everyone's opinion on it to be honest. I haven't yet put limitations on it but I'm soon going to put quite severe ones on as it could be construed as OP as fuck.

I want to point out however that I will not use it as such, as I said it's much more for storyline and epic spectacle purposes rather than to win me fights.

Oooo, neat swords both.

And since there are a few captains in the Bleach Cannon with one-shot/near one-shot abilities in their swords, that sounds alright to me. I imagine your character's going to be the leader of the Jacks anyways, so a powerful weapon seems a given.

Also, having Togame be a descendant works, especially if she stays at a lieutenant level. I'll rework her history a bit to reflect that.

Still working on it, but I finally had an idea for his blade, so I wrote that much down. Anything that seems to not make sense or repeat itself is probably the lack of sleep writing. I'll go through and clean it up and finish the other sections tomorrow.

Very WIP

Name: Masaru Keta
Appearance: Tall and thin, barely anything to him but skin and bone held together by scar tissue, Masaru looks like he should be dead ten times over either from age or battle wounds. He looks as old as he is, almost a thousand years now, with no hair left on his head and a half dozen creases in his brow. Every inch of his body is covered in scars, a testament to the many battles of his long life. The most prominent scar runs from the top of his head all the way down to his left thigh, with two small breaks in the old cut where he raised his arms to protect his eyes and heart. There is also a dark burn covering much of his right shoulder, telling another story of another battle. The only part of Masaru that doesn't look like it should have fossilized or turned to dust long ago is his eyes. The old man's eyes are those of a younger man, and they are gentle and kind, quite unlike the rest of the man they are set into. Masaru's mouth is always a few seconds behind his eyes to smile, something he does often.

Masaru dresses in a light, thin blue robe that just drapes over his frame. His chest and the scars on it is visible most of the time because he rarely closes the top of the robe, to let his body breathe he says. His Zanpakuto is stuck inside his robe beneath the sash across his waist, and he frequently acts like he's forgotten where he's put it. His mask is the eternally laughing Comedy mask.

Personality: Masaru may look like the grim reaper just got run over by a bus, but he's actually a really nice guy. He loves to smile and laugh, and there are times when he acts more like a boy then an ancient battle-hardened warrior. Because his face is naturally quite unsettling to see, the sight of it suddenly breaking into a grin and smiling at you can be a shock. Masaru values trust and friendship above all else, to the point where he will allow himself to be led on even if he knows that he is being lied to. He treats everyone he meets as a new friend until given a reason not to, even those he knows are his enemies. Lying is the one thing he refuses to do, even when he wants to, and he'd rather not say anything at all than lie to another person, even an enemy. This translates over to his promises, which he takes very seriously. He'll never give up on something he's promised to do, no matter how impossible it may seem. Masaru doesn't like killing and causing others pain, and he tries to avoid direct confrontation if at all possible. His Zanpakuto's ability allows him to remove a great number of enemies from battle without killing or harming a single one, reflective of his pacifist(ish) nature.

History:
Zanpakuto:

Keshigomu (lit. Eraser) is the name of Masaru’s blade. The blade is quite short, just three feet long, and perfectly straight. The hilt meets the sheath seamlessly, and no one but Masaru can draw the blade because the blade merges with the sheath, sealing the blade inside. When undrawn, Keshigomu looks like a short staff instead of a sword. The blade itself is featureless; it has no guard or pommel, and the transition from blade to hilt is gradual and smooth.
Shikai:

Ubau, Keshigomu (lit. Take Away, Keshigomu) Masaru sheaths Keshigomu and holds it out in front of himself, pointed away from his body. Then he calls his Zanpakuto’s name and slams his palm into the hilt end of the closed blade. The other end shoots out into a deadly point. In this form, Keshigomu takes the shape of a long white spike, flat on one end and narrowed to a needle-sharp point on the other. On Masaru’s left arm a white disk appears, like a shield.

Keshigomu’s power is to erase what it touches from existence, trapping it in the white void of a pocket dimension. Anything Keshigomu’s tip touches disappears in an area of half a foot in every direction from the point of contact. The deeper the spike pierces, the larger the area it disappears. Objects and living things will continue to act as if the erased parts were still there, even if the disappeared part was providing support or vital for survival. It's as if the part was still there and simply can't be seen or touched. In addition, the face of the white disk sends what it touches into the white space, making it useful for blocking many types of attacks and even for offense, though the main spike is more useful for direct offensive use. Other Zanpakuto are completely immune to erasure, only appearing in the white space if their owner is completely erased and trapped in the white space.

Keshigomu’s second power activates when he touches the surface of the disk with his palm. Masaru's entire body vanishes as if he had erased himself, but what has really happened is that he's gone into the space where everything Keshigomu has erased is trapped and stored. Keshigomu doesn’t actually harm or destroy what it pierces; it merely transports it to a different dimension. By default everything erased is kept separate from every other thing, with the exception of parts of the same object, but Masaru can merge and separate these different dimensions at will when he’s inside the white space. By tapping the surface of the white disk with the end of the spike, he can bring forth anything he has stored inside the white space. Needless to say, he’s never had to worry about having enough storage space.
Bankai:

Sekai no Keshigomu (lit. World Eraser) Masaru draws a circle in the air with Keshigomu’s tip and then stabs the center of the circle with it. The space inside the circle shatters, and the vision of anyone in range blurs for a moment, regardless of whether or not they were looking in the direction of the circle. The area of effect is encased in a sphere of white space, and Keshigomu itself changes into an inverted whirlpool pulling from the inner surface of the sphere. The edge of the sphere is an impenetrable wall for anyone other than Masaru, who can pass in and out of the white space at will, going into the wall in one location and emerging at another. The edge is much like a larger version of the shield from Keshigomu’s shikai state but much, much larger. Inside the sphere, he can summon forth anything he has stored away to use against the enemy, though Keshigomu itself is usually more than enough. Masaru can throw Keshigomu inside the sphere, and when it touches the edge it flies into it and flies out somewhere else inside the sphere, all the while pulling a whirlpool of white space behind it. Masaru uses his bankai to remove large numbers of enemies from a fight quickly, as it is very difficult to avoid being erased inside the Sekai no Keshigomu.
