Because both of her parents, (considerably her father) are Military Soldiers, there was a high chance they would die out in the field. That's what they were trying to get Eve, and her brothers to understand.

Pretty much they were sheltered, but her parents wanted to try to make them.ujderstand the dangers that most miltiary police children usually aren't exposed to.
