They had cleaned out the the fallen heroes in the ring, and now the three of them were all that was left. Mythos and Dynabane were facing each other, death in their eyes. Steelia walked slowly up to them and they both turned to face her, pity in their eyes. Clearly they didn’t believe a woman was capable of standing up to them, clearly they didn’t think anything of her, standing there against them… Steelia was scared out of her mind. She thought maybe she didn’t belong there, maybe she should give up. If she kneeled down now, and kept her rank 3, it was likely one of these two would pass their exit exam, and she could make her way up to number 1 that way. But she knew if she won that way, she would never win in the exit exam. She was scared. Sure. She was terrified out of her mind. But in the back of her mind, she thought of Adrian. I hate him, but he’s putting his all into winning… so I will too! If he gets first and I don’t… he’ll kill me.

Steelia noticed the new weapon rack they had carted in, for the heroes to use. Unlike the villain side, the hero arena was always a chaotic free-for-all where everyone fought to the death. When the dust cleared on the last three, the rules changed. It was still a battle royale, but they upped the stakes, providing weapons for the heroes who wanted them. Steelia knew that no one there would use the weapons, but perhaps she could use the cart…

“Mythos…” Dynabane crossed his arms, staring at the mortal god. “I hope you’ve prayed to your gods about today’s match… maybe they’ll be merciful to you, and only allow me to break a couple of your bones today.” His self-righteous smirk was enough to make Steelia nauseous.

“Dynabane, I have prayed to the god that lives within me, and he tells me that a blasphemer such as yourself cannot stand. The weight of your own sins will bring you down.” Mythos strummed a delicate tune on his harp, closing his beautiful eyes and tilting his head gracefully. “If you truly believe that the god will not be kind to me, and allow me victory after such a painful defeat at your hands last, then you’re sorely mistaken. My god will not allow me to fail. My justice is divine.”

“Justice lies not with gods. It lies with the people. My justice is tangible, it is absolute!” Dynabane clenched his fists. “It is what has allowed me to take and hold my number one rank for this long. My justice is the only real justice. Gods have nothing to do with it… You are a fool for believing that a god would care anything about justice.”

The reality hit Steelia hard all over again. They don’t even realize I’m standing here. I’m not even a shred of a threat to them. They’re completely unacknowledging my existence… She stared blankly at the two, trying to figure out what to do. The match had yet to start, but Steelia was already getting furious at the two of them. She looked over at the cart, walking over to it and selecting a weapon.

“Your justice is nothing more than an overbearing sense of self-holiness!” Mythos said, clearly being riled up by the other hero’s words. “Your justice is nothing! Your justice is insignificant! I am holy! I am the receptacle for a GOD! How can you think you stand a chance against me!?” He grew more angry by the moment. The two of them suddenly leapt backwards as a sword flew through the air between them, sticking in the wall. In unison they both turned on Steelia, and she panicked, but stood strong.

“I’m in this match as well!” she said, narrowing her eyes at them. “You may not want to acknowledge me… but you WILL acknowledge me. I WILL defeat you today! BOTH OF YOU! I will take my worthy place as number one of the senior class… I have worked too hard, and too long, to stand here and be ignored.” Steelia yelled, staring the both of them in the face. “You may act like I’m not here… you might pretend I’m not a threat… but I am certainly a threat to you.”

Both Mythos and Dynabane looked at each other, and Steelia got the feeling that they were more rival like than they probably were with their own villains. They turned to look back at her. Mythos was the one to speak up first, the one to pity her first. “Of course…” Mythos said, his voice sweet as honey. “Of course you’re in this match as well… You’re certainly strong, or you wouldn’t have made it this far…” he said, a lovely smile gracing his features.

“But you’re a damn idiot to think you’d ever come close to challenging us.” Dynabane finished his statement for him. “Hard work can only get you so far… it will never come close to natural talent. Mythos and I, you see, were born to succeed. We were born to excel and be good at what we do. We were born to win, and get our own universes. Hard work cannot give you a destiny. Hard work cannot give you a future. The best future you can look forward to…”

“Is losing your powers and living out a quiet life with an ugly husband, too many kids, and an overwhelming amount of debt.” Mythos smiled, politely. “And even a future like that is probably… too good for someone like you.”

Mythos and Dynabane’s words felt like a knife piercing Steelia’s heart. Haven’t I done well? Haven’t I worked hard?... Haven’t my efforts proven that… that I can do something, when I try my hardest? Tears, against her will, pooled up in her eyes. Taking pride in your efforts is a waste, isn’t it?... results are what matter… Th-think of… I have to turn this into rage. God, they said that in the most… the most painful way! Adrian would have said it in a way that would piss me off… Okay. Let’s… see… She closed her eyes tight in thought. … * You’ll never catch up to me at this rate. Quit hiding and fight! * would be something like it… argh why am I doing this like he’s an encouraging, kind person! Then it would be something to really piss me off like… Agh I have no idea what he’d think! but I know what I think and I’m really going to tear these guys DOWN! She opened her eyes. “I swear, on my life, right here in this arena… that I’ll beat you, or I’ll die fighting.” Steelia said, staring at them. “I will not lose. I will not let Adrian mock me.”

The announcer called the start of the match, and both Dynabane and Mythos gave each other a smile before turning on her. Mythos brought his hand down on his harp, and a super screech filled the air, and Steelia narrowly dodged. The concrete wall of the arena cracked and split under the aggressive force and vibration from his attack. Steelia found herself thanking her own gods for not being hit by that attack. Dynabane shot his laser eyes at her, and Steelia continued running. Sh-shit! Oh god, I’m such an idiot! Now I’ve pissed them off! She made it over to the weapons rack, picking it up easily. She managed to use it as a shield to stop another blast from Mythos’ harp, the metal crushing like a tin can, before she flung it, flat side out. Mythos wasn’t expecting it, and it hit him full force across his chest, sending him flying across the arena.

Dynabane laughed at his temporary ally’s situation, not paying attention to Steelia. She leapt up, grabbing him around the neck, twisting backwards to send him over her head before she slammed him into the ground. Still maintaining her grip on him, she picked him up and spun him, sending him flying. While she was doing that, and not paying attention, she saw Mythos’ blast coming straight at her and she froze. The shockwave slammed into her like an automobile, sending her skidding backwards. Luckily the earplugs she’d put in earlier kept her eardrums from shattering, but she could tell they were definitely ruptured. She could tell she was going to have bruises all over her whole body. She took off running, not intending to be hit again.

Dynabane got to his feet slowly. “Huh. Mythos, she might not be too pathetic this time,” he grinned at his temporarily ally. “Let’s kill her.” The words, so casual and offhanded, dropped like a bomb. Mythos gave him a cheerful smile, nodding his head. “Mm. The god in me agrees… this woman, for her sins against god, will be put to death.”

Steelia couldn’t understand what they said, but she knew enough to be scared.

Steelia ran around the edge of the arena, trying to think what to do. She narrowly avoided Dynabane’s laser eyes again, before a lightbulb went on over her head. She knew exactly what to do, but how to do it? Mythos and Dynabane stood in the center of the arena, to give them the most advantage, standing hardly three feet apart from each other.

Steelia could see the crowd screaming and going wild up in the stands. What alarmed her was that she couldn’t hear them. She could feel the fear and confusion and hesitation slip away from her. If Steelia couldn’t hear their despondant remarks… then she couldn’t fear them. She flipped over the cart, running. The next time she looked, the cart was destroyed, blasted to pieces. There’s got to be something I can do. I can’t lose here. I’ve got to separate them! I know how to take them out but I just have to get an opening.

The perfect hero duo stood smirking dead center in the middle of the arena, their judgemental eyes piercing Steelia. She looked at Mythos, his long flowing blonde hair, and those cold, dead blue eyes. His long robes flowing down, stopping just short of the ground, his deadly harp clutched in long slender fingers. “... HEY, MYTHOS!” Steelia screamed across the stadium, standing dead still. “MAYBE IF YOU’D QUIT PLAYING BOTTOM BITCH FOR DYNABANE, YOU’D BE NUMBER ONE!”

She couldn’t hear anything they said, but the looks on their face were stunned and then aggressively, insanely, angry. It was the kind of angry that sent freezing chills down her back. “IT’S BAD FORM TO FUCK YOUR COMPETITION!” she screamed again. Mythos, without another thought, rushed at her. Dynabane grabbed him, pulling him back, saying something to him, his face serious and angry. Mythos slapped his hand away, yelling something. He brought his hand down on his harpstrings and the sound barreled out of it, sending Dynabane flying, Mythos clearly enraged over what had happened.

He rushed towards Steelia and she ran at him, placing her foot on his harp, and flipping over him. She ran over to the stunned Dynabane, sensing it was her chance. She grabbed him up, beginning to spin rapidly, throwing him as far as she could, and as high as she could. He went flying over the edge of the arena, and collapsed in the spectator stands, sending heroes scurrying everywhere.

The announcer announced something, as Mythos froze, stupidly staring outside the arena. Steelia assumed, correctly, that the announcer was declaring that Dynabane had been disqualified for leaving the arena, and now Mythos was number one, moving Steelia up to the number two position.

Steelia noticed Mythos beginning to laugh, and it seemed almost frantic, a wildly amused laugh, a wicked, evil grin spreading across his face. He brought his harp down on his knee, cracking it in half, dropping the pieces to the floor, his eyes fixed intently on her, clearly accepting her challenge, planning on returning it fully. His twisted grin made Steelia nauseous, and she wondered if he was truly possessed by a god. She couldn’t imagine any god looking that sick, looking that evil and twisted.

In any rate, Steelia could tell that now that he had the number one position, he wouldn’t be letting it go without a fight. Steelia had never seen Mythos fight without his harp, but she knew she was deeply scared.

Mythos lowered his hands to his sides, beginning to chant, the rhythm of his words rising and falling softly, filling the arena with the holy echo which bounced off the walls. He began to float, his blonde hair floating and swirling in the directionless wind, his eyes closed in holy prayer. Something seemed to swirl at his hands, an invisible film, distorting the area around it like steam off a hot pavement. It grew larger and Steelia watched in stupid awe as these orbs formed along the sides of him. Wings, pristine white, and nearly 8 feet across emerged from his back, Mythos deciding to give all he had for this battle, deciding he would be the one to destroy her.

Steelia stared at him, politely, yet stupidly, letting him finish his transformation out of a sense of wonder and awe. She realized rather quickly that she had no idea what she was doing. She had no idea how she could defeat Mythos, but she intended to try. Clearly he viewed her as a threat now, otherwise he wouldn t have transformed. He had never gone to this level to win before. Mythos opened his eyes and looked at her, seeming to say something in a grave tone. I have no idea what he s saying to me. Steelia stared at her. Probably something demeaning. You can suck it, Mythos! I hope you like second place, because you re staying there!

Mythos looked startled, and Steelia wondered if maybe he hadn t said something that wasn t rude or hateful. She honestly had no idea what he d said, whether it was kind, unkind, rude, or otherwise. Either way he was visibly startled by her abrasive response. It was that or he was confused because what she d said didn t make sense with what he d said. Looks like you re fated to be a second rate loser forever! she yelled, deciding she didn t really care what he d said.

That pissed him off. His face, which had been wide-eyed and confused, hardened into anger. He said something else and tilted his head back. The orbs began flying around erratically, and Steelia ran at him. Mythos swung his hands toward her and the orbs shot at her, three of them connecting with her skin. The moment they made contact with her skin, they exploded, causing her to stiffen and cry out in agony. SHIT! That
that really hurts! she staggered, the orbs causing solid bruises and black char marks on her skin from where they burned. Was he trying to tell me what these things did? Aghh, no! I can keep going. A couple of explosions isn t going to stop me! Steelia noticed a weapon lying to her left and she dived for it, tossing it up in the air. She kicked it, sending it flying in Mythos direction. He covered his forehead with his arm, before one of the orbs flew in the path of the sword, exploding and knocking the sword off course. Mythos lowered his arm and started aiming the orbs at her again, intending to kill her.

Steelia began running around the arena, not sure what to do. She frantically dodged orbs, but one clipped her back and exploded. She screamed in pain before shaking it off and continuing to run, feeling trapped like a fish in a barrel. With a stick of dynamite. I can t even get CLOSE to him! She ran at him, dropping low and avoiding the orbs, rushing towards him. Mythos brought his hands together and all the orbs converged on her, exploding all around her, all over her. Steelia s high pitched scream was heard across the entire stadium and she took a step back, staggering against the agony that was nothing like she d ever felt. Blood ran down her arms and off her forehead as she backed away from him.

Mythos was laughing. He held his hand out to her, saying something, probably something demeaning. Steelia was woozy from the pain, but she looked to her left, noticing a morningstar lying in the dirt. She reached for it, slowly. It s over there s no way I can win. Even as durable as I am, these things are still doing this kind of damage
If he had used this on anyone else, they would have been dead. Even my power being what it is, I m probably going to die. Because I refuse to give up... Dizzily, her fingers wrapped around the handle of the weapon, lifting it up, nearly falling over onto it. She pointed it towards him, staring at him. The smell of her own charred flesh, a acrid combination of coal and barbeque, filled her nose.

That s a hell of a last smell. And that speech Mythos gave that was a hell of a last noise. Mythos had his eyes closed, looking away from her, deep in the middle of some kind of dramatic lecture, smiling and laughing as he talked. Steelia attempted to read his lips. What is he saying? Let s see...* I m a pathetic excuse for a hero but you should know I m good at sucking dick! * As Mythos paused, he gave her a bright smile, and a nod, gesturing at the crowd. In spite of the pain, a small smile twitched across Steelia s features and she burst into laughter, holding her stomach in one hand, and the morning star in the other. She nearly fell over, laughing so hard. In terms of last thoughts that's the best one I think I could have. Mythos looked startled again, not understanding what she found so funny. Seriously though
I don t know how much longer I can go on. Those little orbs really tore me up...
Mythos stomped his foot, saying more angry words she couldn t hear.

Adrian could feel his consciousness slowly fading as he fought to keep awake.

"Go to sleep already," Titan growled as his grip on Adrian's throat tightened. "I'm going to assume I was right in my assumption that you can't use your swords without speaking the spells first since you've yet to retaliate. You're finished."

A smile arched across Adrian's face, and his eyes flicked toward the right then back to Titan. Titan's eyes narrowed, "What the hell are you smiling about?"

Suddenly Titan's head snapped toward the left and his eyes grew wide before his iron grip immediately disappeared around Adrian's neck, but it was too late. One of Adrian's broadswords plunged into Titan's upper left arm, and Titan let out a loud, piercing scream as he clutched it. Blood spewed from Titan's wound as Adrian gasped for air, began coughing uncontrollably, and gravity took control and dropped him toward the arena floor. Adrian telekinetically caught himself moments before crashing into the ground.

"He's right about one thing at least," a smile managed to form across Adrian's face despite the pain in his neck and the series of coughing fits overwhelming him. "Maybe if Titan had sealed my throat before I summoned the first set of swords then this would already be over."

Adrian felt at his now bruised and sore throat and said in a weak voice, The katana appeared in a denser green aura that consumed the entirety of Adrian's left arm unlike the previous swords he summoned.

Titan flew back to the ground, his eyes ablaze with anger and contempt as blood flowed from his arm. "You're going to fucking pay for this," he growled as he painstakingly removed the sword from his arm and flung it to the side. He motioned two fingers upward, and the earth from the arena floor began to float up to his arm and formed itself into a protective casing around it. The earthen armor visibly tightened around Titan's arm, which he grimaced at.

Titan's eyes shifted toward the katana Adrian held in his hand. "How the hell did you control the swords without speaking?"

"Do you really think I'll tell you?"

"It doesn't matter. I'll still destroy you regardless."

"You can certainly try," he said as he rested Rei Ken on top of his shoulder.

There was a moment of silence as the two enemies plotted their next move. Adrian's eyes zoomed about Titan's body as he attempted to find a weak point on his body.

"The obvious one is the most recent injury I've inflicted, but that armor might negate any attacks I attempt to inflict upon his arm. Not like he can use his left arm now anyways..."

However, before Adrian could devise a plan of attack Titan advanced first. Titan straightened his hand, waved it in front of him, and the air itself split as a visibly sharp manipulation of air flew toward Adrian in the form of a curved blade.

Adrian's grip on the scabbard tightened as he bent his knees, reached for the grip, and in a single, fluid movement, unsheathed Rei Ken, and parried the manipulated air with the flat end of the katana.

Without faltering Adrian sprinted toward Titan, Rei Ken in his right hand and its scabbard in his other. Titan tapped his foot against the ground, jumped back, and a six foot earth spike jutted from the ground where he previously stood. Without missing a beat Adrian sidestepped to the right of the earth spike, continued to charge Titan, and delivered a left to right horizontal cut toward Titan's stomach. The point narrowly missed Titan's stomach as he moved back slightly. Adrian followed up with a right to left horizontal swing toward Titan's head. Suddenly, in a flash the ground flew toward Titan's right hand and covered it in a protective armor, the air around Titan's body rippled, and he moved with an inhuman speed before catching the katana by the mune mid-swing.

"At least he can't use his left arm. A nice change of pace compared to Lilith's accelerated regeneration," Adrian thought as he pulled at the katana, but Titan's grip on it was tight and unrelenting. "I have to catch him off guard. Rei Ken should be perfect for the job."

Titan's grip on Rei Ken tightened and suddenly Adrian felt a sudden pull at his katana. An expression of fear appeared on Adrian's face upon the realization of what was about happen, "No!" Too late.

Rei Ken snapped in half under Titan's strength. He tossed the sori of Rei Ken to the side, and delivered a roundhouse kick to Adrian's face. However, Adrian managed to fly backwards and into the air moments before the kick connected.

Adrian huffed and felt at his head, he could feel his mental capacity beginning to reach its limit. "Dammit..." he thought as blood began to drip from his nose. He wiped the blood away as he glanced down at the broken katana. He shoved Rei Ken back into the scabbard that then became engulfed in the same aura he summoned it in. He unsheathed the sword and from it emerged the repaired blade in pristine condition. Adrian clutched his head in pain and clenched his teeth as he felt a splitting migraine come upon him.

"I need to end this quickly."

"You're not looking too good, Abaddon," said Titan, his eyes narrowed at Adrian's repaired sword.

Adrian flew back to the ground and said, "Arcesso duo digladio." Behind him appeared two swords. "Aw, Titan, I didn't know you cared," he replied sarcastically as he began walking toward Titan and raised Rei Ken.

Parts of the ground beneath Titan's feet broke apart and gravitated toward his right arm, the earth began to add onto the rock already on Titan's arm, shaping themselves into a rock gauntlet.

Titan and Adrian charged one another. He swung his sword from left to right and Titan brought up his rock gauntlet in response. The clang of the sword reverberated throughout the stadium. Adrian reached for the sword that levitated behind him, gripped its grip, and brought it from left to right toward Titan's side. Titan tapped his foot against the ground and an earth wall arose from it, intercepting his broadsword's swing.

Relying solely on his left arm, the rock gauntlet noticeably braced itself as Titan threw the punch that smashed into the side of Adrian's face. The punch sent him reeling back a few feet onto his back, Rei Ken and the broadsword were dropped mid-descent to the ground

Adrian waded through the pain as he clutched the side of his face in agony, he slowly opened his eyes and saw only a glimpse of Titan's fist descending upon his face. Adrian moved his head to the right before Titan's punch narrowly missed his face again and impacted the ground that cracked and broke apart. Not giving Adrian a chance to recuperate, Titan raised his fist again.

Through the pain Adrian looked into Titan's blue, beaming eyes. Titan was already reveling in his win as he pinned Adrian beneath his weight, but Adrian managed a smile despite the pain of Titan's punch. Adrian's eyes flicked toward Rei Ken and telekinetically positioned it behind Titan. Titan brought his heavy rock fist down upon Adrian, but the punch abruptly stopped, his knuckles only a few centimeters away from colliding with Adrian's skull.

"Gotcha," thought Adrian as blood splashed onto his face. Titan screamed as he looked down at the sword that punctured not only his chest but Adrian's.

However, the katana's blade became transparent and incorporeal as it passed through Adrian's body, not spilling a single drop of his blood. Adrian sat up as Titan was still reeling from the katana through his chest. The sword's incorporeal form inched up the blade the further Adrian sat up. He stretched out his hand to the side, and willed the broadsword behind him to return to his hand. The grip of the broadsword returned to the palm of his hand, he shoved the edge of its blade to Titan's throat and cut it.

Blood gushed from Titan's throat like a geyser. Immediately the same men and women who took Lilith away teleported from behind a panel in the arena – different from the one Adrian previously entered – in front of Titan.

In a matter of thirty seconds they had Titan's wounds healed before he managed to bleed out. If Adrian wasn't in so much pain he'd marvel at their healing skills. He wasn't worried for a single second about actually killing Titan. Partially because he didn't particularly care about what happened to Titan. Also because he knew that the medics wouldn't allow for him to die and would intervene and call the match in Adrian's favor as soon as he inflicted a critical injury. Thanks to the brutality often seen in the villain's arena the medics were highly trained and specialized in healing even the most egregious of injuries.

Afterwards Titan was on his feet again, completely healed. The only hint of a struggle was the still wet blood that gradually ran down his neck and onto his chest. He was obviously shaken despite his attempt to appear cool and calm. Adrian looked up to his former opponent whose eyes blazed with hatred and jealousy. The ground briefly rumbled, but one of the medics placed their hands on Titan's shoulders. "It's over," he said before one of the other medics came into view and looked down on Adrian. "Don't move."

The man's hands glowed a dim blue and immediately the pain in Adrian's jaw subside, a great relief to him. In a few minutes the swelling and bleeding stopped and Adrian's face had returned to its natural look. Immediately upon bringing himself to his feet celebratory music played and confetti rained from the sky. Adrian turned around to see picture of himself on the video board with a flashing one in front of his face.

One of the medics floated above the arenA, not bothering with formalities or grandeur, "Match set! Favor: Abaddon, Adrian Sumner!"

Victoria and Frank appeared to either of his sides in their predictable fashion. They were dancing with excitement and wide smiles covered their faces.

"Now, I have to say," Frank began. "I never foresaw any of that ever happening!"

"Neither did I, Frank!" replied Victoria. "Though, now that it has, I'm glad it did! It's a nice change of pace to have an underdog as number one!"

"Tell us, Abaddon, how does it feel for you to have beaten Lilith and Titan in a single go?"

Adrian wasn't sure how to feel with so many eyes looking at him. Some gaped at him in awe and admiration, others stared daggers at him, and a few only glanced in his direction, unimpressed and bored. Several in the crowd even looked at him with a tinge of fear in their eyes and facial features. Regardless of the numerous glares he received a feeling of... pride. Adrian worked himself to the bone to reach this very spot, and finally his hard work has borne fruit. A smile cropped up onto Adrian's face as he realized what he'd say.

Adrian spoke into the microphone Frank placed in front of his mouth, "It feels pretty damn good." Immediately the crowd went wild for their new senior number one.

From the crowd a lone figure jumped into the ring and waltzed up to Victoria, Frank, and Adrian. "Benjamin Grant." Benjamin Grant was a villain junior who was ranked number thirty amongst his entire class, which was the lowest rank possible for his junior class. Despite this, however, he was considered the most popular kid in the entire school. His popularity rivaling even that of the number ones in all the classes.

The reason was simple: he was the richest kid in the world. His powers consisted of conjuring a seemingly infinite amount of money. He had billions of dollars to blow however he pleased, and simply conjure more to replace it. Thanks to this he drove the most expensive cars, had a massive mansion, and the fanciest clothes. His powers were undoubtedly useful, but not very effective in a fight. He knew this and didn't bother challenging anyone above him in rank.

He was also well known to have very huge, extravagant parties that were absolutely over the top.

Expecting him, Victoria handed Benjamin her mike as she and Frank took a step back. He placed his arm over Adrian's shoulder as if they were buddies despite never once even glancing in the other's general direction. He had light skin, thick, but groomed eyebrows, and wore a dress shirt, dress pants, and vest. He lifted the microphone to his lips, allowing the crowd to quiet down first.

"Let's give it up for our new number one here, yeah?" he said as he began clapping and the rest of the audience followed suit. "I, cordially invite all of you, villains, minions, heroes, and sidekicks alike, to the biggest, baddest parties to date. All for," he said as he took a step back and presented Adrian like a prize. "Our new senior number one villain! And from what I hear, you're not the only one rising up the ranks, hot shot! Steelia is doing well so far, and we'll definitely have a new number senior hero by the end of the match."

Adrian's eyes narrowed at this, "She's still fighting? If I hurry. I can still make it." Without waiting for Benjamin to finish Adrian flew toward the exit.

In no time the updated rankings would be bare for all to see, not like the school needed it. The entire school would be on fire thanks to recent events. It angered Adrian to know that he was previously forgotten once, but a feeling of satisfaction reached him as he realized Lilith would now feel what he had felt. Now that he was number one villain of the senior class, no one in the school could ignore him.

Adrian flew his way into the seating arrangements of the hero arena. After zooming through the doors to the seating area he flew himself to the front, above everyone else.

"Mythos is still fighting. Not surprising," he thought as he dared to look for Steelia. A feeling of dread consumed him when his mind began to imagine himself with a new rival. Adrian wouldn't say it to her face, but he enjoyed having Steelia as his rival.

Adrian received a few stares and could hear, "The hell is he doin' here?" But he paid them no mind, but instead focused his attention on Steelia, "Come on, get up. Don't give up now. I have to get her up some how..." A smile formed across his face as he thought about a way to do so.

"How pathetic," he telepathically thought to her. "Are you just going to lay there and die? Maybe this is why you've only managed to defeat me so few times. Just call it quits. Mythos might be a better rival for me, Lilith certainly wasn't."

Steelia turned her head to face Adrian, looking around the arena. The sound of his voice in her head sparked an anger in her skin. Adrian, just let me fight to the death in peace, you jackass. Her breath came in great gulping waves and the pain was making everything fuzzy. Li-... you. You made number one? The news seemed to be a weight off her shoulders. Asshole! Now I really can’t lose. Fuck you. She straightened up, her skin screaming where she moved, which was all of it. I can’t hear a word that guy’s saying. Look at him lecturing me…

Mythos was in the middle of a very deep, very kind-looking sermon, at the end of which, he gave her a kind smile. “So, Steelia, you really should give up. You don’t belong in the number one position. You’d be eaten alive. I don’t even think /I/ want it. I really tried to avoid hurting you like this.” he seemed to wait for an answer.

“Shut your bitch ass mouth,” Steelia yelled, a little too loud. “I can’t -and haven’t been able to- hear a word you’re saying all match! You deafened me 20 minutes ago, idiot! Shut up and do something already!” Now I have to win. He’d flatten this guy like a crepe… She’d forgotten for the moment that he could hear her, remembering with a start. I think I’m getting my second wind! Mythos looked visibly startled, but he stretched his arms out, beginning to chant. Steelia could see he was summoning more orbs. “NO!” she screamed, hurling the morning star in her hand at him.

Mythos managed to narrowly dodge, but it caught him up the center of his forehead, leaving two deep scratches up it, causing him to scream unbearably loud, the orbs dissolving into the air. He covered it with his hands, and removing his hands from his forehead, there was blood on them, and a very large, wide open eye in the center of his forehead, and it was bleeding. Steelia saw him screaming at her, and this she understood. “You BITCH!” he was screaming. Steelia spoke that language very well, even without sound. Ha! Yeah, you’re speaking my language now, you unholy piss bucket. Steelia found the angrier she got, the more foul and creative she got.

She saw the flow of energy in the arena changing and something big occurred to her, watching the tiny bombs disappear. With the temporary loss of his eye, his powers were now out. He’d snapped his weapon in two, and now he couldn’t use his powers. He took a step back at the look on Steelia’s face, as she started running towards him, one hand clamped over his eye. He said something Steelia couldn’t hear, waving his hand at her. She stopped. He seemed to repeat it over and over and over, babbling something at the end. Steelia couldn’t understand it, but Mythos was begging and admitting defeat, trying to make her understand.

Medics flooded onto the field. They clapped their hands onto her ears and then her arms, and suddenly Steelia could hear the overwhelming, deafening sound of the crowd screaming as loudly as they could, shaking the entire arena almost with their energy. Her body mended quickly, taking away that unbearable pain in her limbs. Steelia felt disappointed, staring up at him as she dropped to her knees. “Why did you give up?” the question was difficult on her lips. She’d never been so disappointed in her life.

Mythos didn’t answer her. He didn’t stick around for the interview, either, he turned and walked out the moment he was healed, disappearing quickly. Steelia was stupidly, angrily, overwhelmingly enraged and there was nowhere to put it. Her hands clenched the dry dirt on the floor of the arena, and she felt like she had won without earning her win. The crowd didn’t seem to notice Steelia’s inherent disappointment with the results, they were too busy screaming and chanting her name. The announcer stood her up and held up her hand, and the crowd got twice as loud. Steelia didn’t even bother to look at the audience, she kept her gaze fixed on the ground. Why did he give up? He could have kept fighting. He still could have won. Steelia felt the microphone being thrust in her face, and she knew he had asked her a question and she was overwhelmed and overenraged, and she turned away from it, beginning to leave the arena.

"Atta girl," he thought as he looked back over to Mythos. Adrian's eyes narrowed at the simultaneous disappearing of Mythos' orbs and his third eye. He looked back down at Steelia who was obviously very injured. "I wonder what his powers are if he's able to do this to her."

Adrian found it amusing that Mythos was practically begging for his life, but for some reason Steelia didn't stop. He briefly wondered if he really set her off, but she stopped short of hurting him. Upon Steelia's exit the crowd began to quiet down in confusion. They had a new number one senior hero! Yet their new hero didn't seem filled with exuberance like them or previously crowned number ones. Adrian followed after her.

From behind Steelia resounded a single, slow series of claps from Adrian.

"That was rather... anti-climactic," he said upon stopping his applause "Although, Lilith gave up in a similar fashion, although I..." Adrian hesitated to tell her what he did not only to assure victory against Lilith, but to make her suffer. He also had to wonder why he even cared what she thought. He didn't care about anyone else's opinion of him, so he pressed on regardless. "Gave her no choice. You seem disappointed though. Aren't you excited for the enormous popularity and boys that'll be throwing themselves at you? Your adoring fans are clamoring for your return," he remarked as he pointed back toward the hero stadium.

“He CHEATED,” Steelia was shaking with blind rage. “He… I don’t have a clue what he said, down there. What…” she clenched her fists, the thoughts setting her on fire. “I’m… I’m disappointed. He didn’t… he didn’t try. He gave up. I know there was more. Cutting his eye removed his spiritual powers but he could have done MORE! He gave up! He let me have the number one spot… why?” Steelia stared at the wall. “I’m disappointed, yeah, Adrian. I’m disappointed. I feel like I didn’t earn this. I feel like, by his resignation at that moment… he won. He… he got the upper hand.” She was stupidly angry. “I’m going to find him and I’m going to pound that cum dumpster right into the ground for this… embarrassment. … I couldn’t have lasted another five minutes! He could have OUTRUN me…” She stared at the wall, enraged.

“I don’t care about the boys and popularity. I’ve been… he was patronizing me. No, that’s not the word. I don’t… I don’t know what he did to me…” she shook her head, taking a deep breath. “Can’t I do anything?” She was much calmer now, silently thinking. “... Congratulations on taking first.” Her tone was stiff and formal. “It looks like you and I will be enemies permanently now. Good. I don’t know who else would put up with your shit.” She still had some lingering anger. “That was uncalled for. Sorry. So, what about you? You’re here, not basking in the glory? And you’re going to be rolling in the bitches now too.” she looked over at him. “... But that’s not for us, though, is it? A lifetime of work, and it’s not done yet. No one’s going to give up and let me win the exit exam.” It occurred to her that Adrian had spoken to her with his mouth and that intrigued her. That was a rare occurrence. “And I appreciate you not invading my brain to congratulate me. Your mouth actually does work, it seems like.”

Adrian barely managed to stifle his laughter at, "cum dumpster." Instead he could only marvel at the words she spoke. Usually anyone, regardless of how they got there, would be ecstatic about being ranked first. Yet here was a girl who wasn't, in fact, she was angry, enraged even, that she hadn't earned it. Adrian couldn't say he disagreed with her, he might've felt the same way, but after the punishment he recieved today, he would've preferred if they all stepped down the way Mythos did.

A grin formed across his face when she openly insulted him. "I'm used to it," he said upon hearing her apology then congratulation. "Thanks, but we're very far from done. From what I hear things only get worse from here on out."

She remarked how he vocally spoke to her and he replied, "Don't get used to it," he said as he turned to walk away, but stopped mid turn and looked at her, "No doubt you'll be hearing this soon enough, but Benjamin Grant is holding a party at his mansion tonight. You should go, might cool off that hot head of yours." Adrian couldn't help but look into those hazel eyes he felt so attracted to as he spoke to her. His eyes then gravitated toward the rest of her face as it came into view, and remarked to himself how pretty he thought she was.

Just then heroes, villains, minions, and sidekicks began trickling into the hallway, returning from their respective arenas. He quickly realized he was staring and probably making the situation awkward. "Damn. I was never good at talking to people." He completed his turn and tepathically thought to her, "Congratulations, Lydia," and began walking away.

Lydia could have half groaned at hearing about Benjamin Grant’s party. Now there was a self-indulgent rich bastard if she’d ever met one. “Must be nice to coast through life on mommy and daddy’s money” was a phrase she often thought about Benjamin. Honestly, about the last thing she wanted to do, was to attend this party. Her limbs, now healed, still held all the fatigue from the massive damage they’d had, and her mind still was bogged down with the emotions that drowned her. She realized that, maybe, Adrian was inviting her? She looked up at him, confused, her brows knit. When she saw that look in his eyes, she wondered what he was planning.

Just as she couldn’t stand the scrutiny -her heart was pounding from fear, she assumed- people began pouring into the hallway. Lydia turned away from him, looking around awkwardly. She caught his farewell and she turned and turned to face him, the rage back in her voice. “Don’t use my real name!” She hated that, but he often insisted.

She felt an eager tap on her shoulder and Willow was there, overwhelmed with excitement. “You did it! You did it, Steelia!” He went to hug her but she pushed him away.

“Shut up, Willow, I’m not in the mood. I’m going home.” She said, holding him at arms’ length.

“Uh, but… um, Steelia, I have… um, would you, … the sidekick …” Willow was tripping over his own words. He cleared his throat. “Steelia, the sidekick games. I was hoping you would watch me out there, for support.”

Steelia could groan at his words. As it was, she visibly wilted. “Willow, you’re going to do fine. You’re going to be amazing.” she encouraged him. “But, I’m really tired and really sore. Too much so to talk. I’m going to go home and sleep some of this fatigue off. Will I be seeing you at this party thing tonight?”

“Oh, yes, definitely!” then a beat. “What party?”

Steelia ruffled his hair before heading out, going home to take a nap. She could hear the date of the party being tossed all around the hallway and her name, and Adrian’s, up and down the hallway, loud chattering. They all turned to look at her as she passed and Steelia was almost overwhelmed by the expressions on their faces. A mix of envy, jealousy, cold amusement, indifference from all the others washed over her. Some of the villains thought they could easily destroy her, while others didn’t care enough to even think about it.

A large crowd of heroes pressed against her, talking, chattering, and over enthusiastic for her and Steelia was disgusted. They don’t understand. I won, so obviously it's time to celebrate. They couldn't imagine how I feel about this. It's all flowers and roses up at the top, apparently.

S.U.P.E.S. Hallway

Adrian got a chuckle from hearing Lydia yell at him. As he walked down the hall a few villains and minions congratulated and showed him praise for his battle against both Titan and Lilith. It was... unsettling to him. He was used to being unseen, ignored even, and he was accustomed to this and how he preferred it. However, now he was showered with attention and he already didn't like it.

As he walked down the hallway a few heroes and sidekicks noticeably kept their distance from him. Others defiantly stood their ground.

"At least the heroes will leave me be," he thought as he walked further along the hallway, turned a corner, and reached some stairs. As he ascended the stairs a few female villains, and a male, seductively waved their fingers at him. Adrian couldn't help but roll his eyes at this as a he continued his ascent up the stairs. Those associated with the number one villain or minion were generally more popular and not to be messed with, and it wasn't unusual for villains and minions to seek the attention of the number one villain and minion for this very reason. Then, when they graduate or are beaten, they move on. Benjamin Grant is notorious for this, but he didn't limit himself to villains and minions, but also heroes and sidekicks. Adrian wouldn't be surprised if this party was an attempt by Ben to get close to him. Titan has probably been thrown away like used toilet paper by now and forgotten.

Adrian finally made it to his room and collapsed onto his bed. "Finally. All I need is some rest."

Benjamin Grant's Mansion

Adrian changed his clothing before going to the party since what he wore previously was heavily bloodied from the matches. He retained his usual all black attire, but dressed casually for the occasion.

Adrian didn't need to fly long in order to find Benjamin Grant's 80,000 square foot mansion. Needless to say, it was hard to miss. Adrian was late, per usual, to the party, and landed in the large, circular driveway with a fountain in the middle of it. He could practically feel the thumping bass of the music and faintly hear the lyrics of the song as he walked up to the door of the mansion. Flashing lights, dancing villains and minions, perfume, cologne, and music pervaded his senses all at once immediately upon opening the door.

"The heroes and sidekicks are probably elsewhere," he thought as he walked through the door. "This isn't my scene."

Adrian wandered toward the quieter, more extravagant part of house where drinks were being served by waiters and waitresses, and a massive fish tank was held. Adrian found it a tad ridiculous that Benjamin even hired help for this shindig. "I guess he's flaunting his money. As if he needed to do it anymore."

"Drink, sir?" one of the waitresses asked him. The glass itself was a fancy looking glass filled with a liquid that looked like champagne.

"No thanks," he said as he turned away. "Alcohol at a high school party, Benjamin? There must be drugs as well."

"There's one of our guests of honor!" said a distinct voice from behind him. Adrian turned to find Benjamin Grant welcoming him with, literal, open arms that he wrapped around Adrian. "How ya' enjoyin' the party so far, buddy?"

"I've enjoyed every two minutes of it so far," he said sarcastically before squirming uncomfortably out of Benjamin's arm. "Though this rap music is making my ears bleed."

"You know what, you're right! I always hated it too! I have no idea why the DJ is playing it. You," he said as he pointed at a waitress. "Go tell the DJ to put on something else other than this atrocious music."

"Yes, sir," she responded before scurrying off.

"Did he just... change the music because I didn't like it? Didn't see that coming. This could be fun..."

"So you're obviously very smart and quick on your feet," Benjamin continued. "How do you think you'll do in the exit exam?"

"Fine."

Lydia awoke groggily, sitting up. She was at home, and she had definitely overslept. She scrambled to her feet, tumbling out of bed before running to her closet, grabbing a couple articles of clothing, a white tank top and grey jacket and a black pair of pants, that she knew looked good together, throwing them on. She quickly brushed her hair, throwing the whole thing back into a ponytail because if Mythos was there she was going to knock him out. And she couldn’t have her hair in the way. She looked over her face, wondering if she looked okay. She checked the clock. The party officially started in about 20 minutes… Well, she could be a little late. She decided to take a little extra time getting ready. Not that she had any reason to! But people would have their eyes on her all night, so she might as well look good.

She finally arrived at the mansion forty-five minutes late, walking in. She immediately stiffened, the wave of sound and odor of sweat and perfume and alcohol hitting her face, making her queasy. Ick. This place smells like the co-ed bathroom in city park. The villains and minions dancing and talking and drinking was definitely not her thing, so she moved past. She made it past that room before she felt fingers gripping her sleeve. “Hey.”

Lydia turned to face them, noticing she’d caught the attention of a villain. “Oh. Hey.” She brushed his hand off. “Thomas. What’s up?”

“I just noticed you coming through and I thought I’d say congratulations,” his grin was from ear to ear. “I heard about your victory. Great stuff, Lydia.”

“Yeah… thanks. I didn’t earn it. But… you know, whatever.” She gave him a suspicious look. “I didn’t imagine YOU to jump on the popularity train, Thomas.” They’d grown up together, but they had since grown apart.

“I wouldn’t think of it that way! I was just telling you good job, that’s all,” Thomas grinned. Number four, or wherever he was now. He had always been one step behind her, but now she was far ahead of him. His powers were mimicry, but they had limits. He could imitate any power he had ever seen, provided they were physical powers. He patted her shoulder. “Good work.”

Lydia gave him a funny look. She continued going on through the enormous mansion, seeing doors and people everywhere. Well, I’m going to get lost here. I can already tell. My sense of direction is awful. She stumbled into a quieter room and felt relieved as the sound quieted behind her.

"You never did like parties, did you? Why are you here?" Thomas' voice seemed to come from nowhere and Lydia startled. She hadn't realized he'd followed her.

"I- I don't know," she said, in a cranky voice. "Don't you have some villain friends to hang out with?"

"Not much of a talker, are you? Do you even know about the others in each individual class, Abaddon?" he wondered with a hint of condescension.

Adrian narrowed his eyes at this. The tone in Benjamin's voice seemed to only put off Adrian, and Adrian wasn't exactly trusting of Benjamin. In fact, Adrian wasn't trusting of anyone. Adrian was never sure who he could trust considering the ranking matches were full of backstabbing and betrayals.

"Tell me," he said, attempting to deflect the question. "What happens when you graduate? Do they come and take everything?"

"Hm. I don't know. I hope they don't. They'll definitely strip me of my powers, but not take what I've acquired with it. I have a few billion dollars hidden away if they do though. More than enough to live a few times over!"

Before Adrian could reply, a man in a suit came up to Benjamin and whispered in his ear. "Ah, good. Thank you. If you'll excuse me, Abaddon, your rival has arrived and I'd like to speak to the other guest of honor."

"Don't piss her off. Or else you won't be around long enough to enjoy your billions."

"Noted," and with that Benjamin was off to see Steelia.

Adrian planned to follow suit, but he decided to wait it out. He didn't want to go see Steelia while mister money stacks was talking to her.

Adrian leaned against the dark corner of the room as he watched the other villains and minions dance. He spotted a few girls eyeing from the other side of the room. Not long after Benjamin left was he approached by a girl in a black tank top and blue jeans who was with the group of girls eyeing him.

"Hello," she said. "It's good to see you again."

"Not interested."

The girl cocked her head to the side like a confused puppy as her long, scarlet hair fell over her face slightly. "In... me?

"You're one of my many disinterests, yes."

"I don't think you know who I am."

"Nope."

"You don't remember me? At all?"

"Not even slightly."

She looked hurt, and Adrian had to seriously wonder if he previously met this girl.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Dillon. Dillon Hunt. I'm your partner."

"What? My partner?"

"Well, 'minion' seems so... demeaning. I prefer the term partner."

"So you're Metallica. You're the first ranked senior minion. I figured you'd be more upset about what I did to your last 'partner.'"

"No, he was an asshole womanizer who got what he had coming to him."

Adrian chuckled at this, "Never thought I'd hear that come out of a woman's mouth."

"You really don't remember?"

"No, for the second time already."

"Well, you beat up some jackass bullying me our freshman year. I tried talking to you once, but you brushed me off. Sorta like you're doing right now."

"Don't take it personally."

"Oh, of course not," she said sarcastically. "How could I ever do that?"

Adrian began to wonder if Benjamin had finished talking to Lydia. So he stopped leaning against the wall, and began walking in the direction he last saw Benjamin go.

"Hey, wait!"

"What is it?"

"Well, aren't we going to get to know one another? After all the exit exam is soon. We shou-"

"Listen," he began as he suddenly spun around to face her. "I don't do this whole, 'work as a team' thing. There's me, myself, and I and we prefer to keep it that way," he turned back around, but was stopped by Dillon's hand on his arm that caused him to turn back to her bright blue eyes.

"I know you think you're a badass, lone wolf and all – and I'll admit taking on Titan and Lilith was pretty damn impressive – but you can't take the exit exam on your own."

"I've done well enough on my own so far. I can continue do so," he said before attempting to turn around, but was again stalled by Dillon's hand on his shoulder.

"No, you can't. There's only so far your swords can take you. You think the minion and villain arena was bad? It's worse for the exit exam. There are kids willing to tear one another apart to keep what makes them unique. What makes them whole. Don't think that just because their younger means they're weaker. They'll eat you alive if you get in the way."

Adrian could feel the volatile anger that he always tried too keep in check begin to rear its ugly head.

"Then I'll eviscerate them from the inside out. They won't get in my way and neither will you!" Adrian, for the last time, turned back around to find Steelia.

"You stubborn mother hubbard! Wait!" she called to him as she quickly followed.

Benjamin Grant's Mansion: Benjamin, Lydia, and Thomas

"Yes, I believe he does," interjected Benjamin. "Begone, plebeian. You see our guest of honor wants nothing to do with you."

Benjamin then proceeded to place himself between Lydia and Thomas, not bothering to see if he'd actually leave, and proceed to pretend as if he wasn't there. "Tell me, love, how are you experiencing everything? Is everything to satisfaction?"

“Oh… well…” Lydia didn’t seem like she quite knew what to say to that. “I don’t know, I just got here… It seems nice eno- Guest of honor?” She raised a brow. “Really?…” She tossed her head back a bit. “Well, aside from a few minor complaints, it’s going alright, I suppose. It’s a terrible idea to ask a lady if everything’s alright because it never is.” She looked around, studying the room. “We’ll always find something to complain about.” She glanced at Benjamin. “Where’s Mythos? I have something I need to say to him. With my fists. That’s why I came here, mostly.”

Thomas, generally nonplussed, leaned against the open frame in the kitchen, his hands in his hoodie pockets. “Now don’t be difficult, Lydia. You can’t just come to this fancy half million dollar party and start a fight…” he removed a glass of the champagne from a tray that came by him. “At least spend a few minutes suckling milk from the teat of the rich.”

“Didn’t ask you,” Lydia glared at him. “Why don’t you go back into the other room? I’d suggest you pick up a woman or something but we know how that would go… quickshot.” she made the noise of a gun being fired.

“Fine, I’m going. Tell anyone that story and they’ll never find your body,” Thomas called over his shoulder.

“My girlfriends and I still laugh about it,” Lydia yelled after him. “Sorry about that, Benjamin. He's an old friend. Now, you were thinking about telling me about where Mythos is.”

Benjamin's Mansion: Thomas, Benjamin, and Lydia.

Benjamin sighed, "So that's why you came. I was hoping you'd actually enjoy yourself, love! Well, I suppose you and Mythos having a rematch would be entertaining... He should be with the other villains, you know, where you initially came in. Will you also be fighting Abaddon? I'm sure everyone here would be delighted to see the two senior number ones throw down!"

Benjamin's Mansion: Adrian and Dillon

"God," he exasperated as he continued to walk. "You certainly aren't lacking in persistence."

"That's because I care about winning! Just as much as you do!"

"Nice to know."

"Oh fudge, come on! You can't keep doing avoiding me forever!"

Adrian stopped again and turned to her, he could feel himself getting slightly dizzy at the constant stopping, going, and turning. "What do you expect me to do if I cooperate? Hm?"

"I expect us to tell everything we know about each other so that we ca-"

"Nope. Not gonna happen," he said as he began walking away again.

"Why not?!"

"Because that requires trust. Something I won't be lending out."

"Well, as a sign of goodwill how about I do the trusting first?"

"You can do whatever you want."

"Okay!" She said, happy she was making some progress. Little progress, but progress nonetheless.

"Fine then," Dillon thought. "I'll trail behind you this entire night if that's what it takes you to listen to reason and trust me."

"Well, let's start with the basics. I was born on January 15th, currently seventeen years old. I stand at exactly 5'4. I really like seafood. My favorite color is green."

"God help me," he thought as he continued to walk toward where he saw Benjamin go.

Eventually Dillon and Adrian found themselves in front of both Benjamin and Lydia. Now that they found them, Dillon didn't stop listing off random facts about herself for a minute straight until she realized she was standing in front of Steelia and Benjamin.

"Whoa. That's your rival!"

"Nothin' gets passed you, does it?" he said sarcastically before looking at Steelia. "I thought you wouldn't show."

“Well, that room only had villains in it, from what I could see. Mythos is a hero?” Lydia looked puzzled. “and yeah, why else would I have come?” She looked at a servant. “Can I request drinks from these people? like… if I wanted a diet pepsi, could they just magically conjure me up a diet pepsi?” she’d never had servants before or known anyone who did, so it was an interesting concept. “... And no. I don’t fight Adrian. And I don’t enjoy myself. …” she looked up when Adrian entered, waving a hand at him.

“Believe it or not,” she said, annoyed. “I overslept. Then I got up and I was going to rush over here, but I thought, why look like shit? The party will still be here.” She eyed Dillon. “Your girlfriend’s cute. Where’d you find her at?” she started walking towards the back of the mansion, looking around for the heroes room. “I wouldn’t have come tonight, but I still plan on punching Mythos right in his cock holster for that embarrassment he showed me today.”

"Oh, that's right," said Benjamin. "Silly me. Well, if you insist on finding him. I shall lead you to him. Well, the servants aren't magically inclined like myself, but they can certainly fetch you whatever you'd like if you only ask."

"D'awh, thanks!" Dillon responded before stretching out her hand for Steelia to shake. "I'm Dillon Hunt. I'm Adrian's new partner."

"Partner meaning minion," Adrian added before Lydia assumed something else of the word.

"If you want to find Mythos, Steelia, he's right this way," said Benjamin as he began to walk away and go to the hero and sidekick area of the mansion with the home theater, jacuzzi, and infinity pool.

Adrian and Dillon lingered behind if Lydia proceeded to follow Benjamin, but Adrian would eventually follow and Dillon would follow Him.

Adrian's eyes wandered down toward Dillon, "Usually if I told a minion to fuck off they did just that. She's unusually more persistent than most."

Dillon flicked her eyes up at Adrian, "He's a tough nut to crack. It might take awhile to break through that tough exterior."

"Dillon Hunt, huh," Lydia murmured. She honestly thought little of the minions and sidekicks both. Her own sidekick was a little bit annoying. She quickly shook her hand, but she was clearly distracted by all that was going on there in the mansion, and she followed after Benjamin. Yeah, totally adorable. What's a girl like that doing working for evil?

Lydia peeked through some of the doors as they passed. "Damn this place is pretty sweet. Too bad I hate parties. I would totally chill in that big jacuzzi." I wonder how Willow did. She entered the room Benjamin led her to. She looked around and saw Willow, but her eyes brushed over him to see Mythos sitting on a table, surrounded by two blonde, angelic looking twins who were laughing at what he was saying. Steelia marched up to him, grabbing him by the collar. "Are you ready to get your ASS kicked, Mythos?"

Mythos, real name Erin, looked up at her, a sarcastic look on his face. "Didn't we already go through this?" he questioned, dryly, smacking her hand away with a delicate motion. "I lost. You won. Why are you bitching?"

"Because you gave up," Lydia said, angrily. "Why did you throw it?"

"I threw the match, dear Steelia, because I didn't want to WIN." He gave her a dry look, pushing his long blonde hair out of his face. "I'm perfectly fine here in the number two position. I've seen what happens to heroes who go on to take their exit exams. I've seen some of them never come back, and I know they didn't graduate. Even if the god who lives inside me has to leave my body at the end of the year... he will still favor me, and bless my life. You, meanwhile, will be slaughtered at the hands of the other heroes and villains who so desperately want to leave this place whole. Enjoy your future bloodbath. I hope you emerge victorious, coated in your enemies' blood. That's the truth."

Thinking of it now, Lydia realized she had never seen Mythos use his full powers on Dynabane. Clearly he never wanted to surpass him. It had all been a funny game to them, something to keep the other heroes on the bottom, the sidekicks watching, the whole audience amused and excited over the imaginary battle. It had all been set up like pro wrestling, Mythos not really even desiring to graduate, but playing the imaginary game just for the fame, always wanting to stay in number two position. That was why they had been so amused at her anger and eagerness to win. That was why her victory had been so easy. When she died in the exit exam, they would fight again, Dynabane beating Mythos and restoring the natural order. It enraged her.

"Now if you'll excuse me, dear, dear Lydia, I have a date with these so lovely twins," he flashed her a look as if to challenge her to say something about him being gay. "So if you'll kindly get lost..." Lydia grabbed him up, throwing him bodily across the room, watching satisfied as he collided heartily with the wall, before turning and pushing past Dillon and Adrian. Willow chased after her.

Adrian narrowed his eyes at the spectacle before him and thought, "Interesting. He didn't want the number one spot, because he saw what it did to people. I wonder what it's like. If he actually wanted that number one spot, could he take it?"

Lydia brushed between Dillon and Adrian as she ran past them. Dillon then turned to face Adrian. "So, do you believe me now?"

"Believe what now?"

"That you can't take the exit exam on your own."

"No."

"Dammit, Adrian! You even had a high ranked hero admit he didn't want to be number one because of the messed up stuff that goes down there!"

"It's not any different than what I've previously experienced," he said before walking off after Lydia. "I'll fight the same way I always have. Unpredictably, smart, and ruthlessly."

"That may work one on one, but teamwork is essential for victory for the exit exam."

"I'll find my own way. I always have."

"Christ, you're difficult."

As he walked past a waitress he took a glass of champagne off the tray she was carrying, "Lydia! Wait!" he called from behind her.

Willow was calling after her first, while Adrian and Dillon were talking. Lydia bristled. "I TOLD you not to call me by my name, Willow." She yelled over her shoulder. "I've been humiliated ENOUGH today. I just want to go to my favorite location in town and tear some shit up."

"Lydia, wait, I..." He stopped walking after her, moving aside when she didn't seem to care. "I took first in the sidekick games..." he muttered. "Good job, Willow. She doesn't care." He walked back to the other room, passing by Dillon and Adrian.

"Oh, now you're yelling after me?" Lydia said, angrily, when she heard Adrian calling out, deciding to stop and see what he had to say at least. "I'm in a serious fuck-some-shit-up mood so whatever you have to say better be pretty important."

"Oh, scary," he mocked as he sipped his champagne casually and unfazed. Dillon, on the other hand, seemed to quiver slightly at the now angry hero. However, before he could say anything Benjamin Grant seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

"All is well," he said, attempting to quell Lydia's anger. "Before you go, Steelia, I'd like to invite you, your sidekick, Abaddon, and Metallica to stay at my humble abode."

Adrian raised an eyebrow at this, "Why would you do that?"

"It's only fitting that heroes and villains of your caliber live in adequate housing. And what's more adequate than my own?"

"And you want to get in good with the new number ones," he thought. Adrian couldn't deny that Benjamin's home was pretty damn cool. He always wanted to live in a mansion to boot. However, neither of those facts meant he trusted Benjamin in the slightest.

Dillon cocked her head to the side the same way she did earlier, "For how long?"

"Until you graduate, of course! I'd have you here longer, but that would prove difficult since you'd all have your own universes."

Dillon seemed to be getting excited at the idea as she grabbed Adrian's arm and said, "Ooh, we should do it!"

Adrian's eyes shifted down to look at her, "You're too trusting," he telepathically thought to her.

Dillon's eyes grew wide at this, "Whoa! Ho-"

Immediately Adrian's hands clasped over her mouth before she could continue, "We'd like to think about it," he said with a fake smile.

Benjamin raised an eyebrow at the fold of events before him, but didn't bother questioning it. He then looked over to Steelia and Willow. "What about you?"

Lydia raised an eyebrow, leaning against a counter, running along the back wall. “Are you serious?” she quirked a brow. “You want ME to stay here, in your home?” She lifted herself up and took a seat on the counter. She gestured at a servant. “Diet pepsi, in a can. With a straw. Bendy straw.” she ordered. Turning back to Benjamin, she was confused and suspicious. “Benjamin, I think you’re asking for a real disaster here… not to mention I don’t understand your angle… What are YOU getting out of this?...”

Willow was hesitating. “I… I think it’s a neat idea! I couldn’t ever imagine living in a place like this! There’s a HOT tub and a theater and man, I… I don’t know. Steelia, please?”

“Stop begging.” She glanced at Willow, before looking up again. It might be a trap. But then… what would he get out of setting up this trap? He’s not going to be number one. You can’t just bounce to the number one slot. So he’s not trying to eliminate us. Copy our DNA? Use it to make some kind of… no that’s ridiculous. I’m thinking like a low level hero. “Unlike Dynabane and Titan, we’re not popular heroes and villains. In fact, everyone hates us.” she took the soda the servant had brought.

“This isn’t going to make you popular… it’s not going to get you more money. It won’t secure you immunity…” she took a drink of the soda, sipping from the straw. “More than that, I’m a terrible house guest. A real slob of a woman… I’m definitely not the housekeeping type. With that said… I’m a big girl and trap or no trap, I can handle myself. I’ll do it, if nothing else, to make you realize what a bad idea that is.”

A smile spread across Benjamin's face as Adrian led Dillon away, "Oh, I'd never think of setting up a trap for either of you. And I'm sure you aren't that bad, Steelia."

"How did you do that?!"

"I'm telepathic," he said impatiently.

"That's so cool! What else can you do?"

"Tons of stuff. Now listen, if we're going to work together you need to learn to be a little more discreet."

"Oh, okay! Gotcha!"

Adrian sighed, "Lydia was right. There isn't much he can do or gain from this. Although I have to wonder why he's doing it. Regardless, I'm tired of the same small room all the time. How can I pass up the opportunity to live like this? I don't think he could do anything to me if he wanted to."

Adrian and Dillon walk back over to Benjamin, "Alright. We'll stay. I'll have to get my stuff first, however."

"No, no, don't worry about that. I'll have someone go by and pack everything there for you. Just let me know when you're ready to go to your room, and I'll have someone show you."
