Somewhere in Mosul, Iraq
9th September, 2013

Jan kept his head down, his heart racing, time almost passing slower as the adrenaline kicked hard, as it did in his fellow operators. Peeking over the mudbrick wall, he sprayed four shots down the BUIS of his 416, clipping one militant, before looking back to his troops.
"Zhenya, Neil, lead the breach on that door! Wendy, Scott, angle on the left, I'll give cover!" Jan yelled, aware that the compound was now lighting up into combat. They had mostly taken them down- now, Jan knew that it was time to stop them before they made their only move left. They had to get the chemical weapon, before they got it out the front- and where Jan hoped that at least the Iraqi surveillance team would keep things on check. Jan peered over, switching to his M320 for a bit more power. Firing a single 40mm neatly into two men that were moving to set up a PKM, Jan layed down as much sustained fire as he could, feeling bullets whiz by his Ops Core helmet, and the shots ring loudly as some went into the wall, with Jan aware that he had got some of the attention. Getting a new magazine in, he cocked the weapon quickly, before looking over at the situation that was currently happening.
"Okay, Scott, Wendy, give me some cover in return- we've got to stop them from consolidating." Jan added, looking over at the other two, full engaged with enemy and definitely picking up multiple contacts in the fray of things.

Neil looked to Zhenya, looking at the door as he made a simple remark, trying to kick the door in on the smaller house of the two in the compound. The door simply didn't budge, as Neil gave another kick.
"Fuck. They've blockaded it. Only one way in then..." Neil said simply, as he made a motion for Zhenya to prep a breaching charge from off his kit, a small block of explosive, onto the door's frame. If there was a cabinet or something heavy, this would easily disodge it, along with pretty much the entire frame of the door, whilst directing the blast away from the two operators. Neil's AUG in hand, he let Zhenya get to work, scanning the area behind the rest of the advancing team, before he looked over at his Russian squadmate, hoping he was ready to go. Leaning in, he gave a signal that he would go left, though he was on the right of the door at the moment- allowing him to sweep more effectively than Zhenya would, if they forcibly went in, and check any hiding holes. Reading up, his weapon loaded with a full PMAG of 5.56, he braced himself, the Australian confident that if they didn't find it here, at least they'd get an easy flanking route on the men supressing Jan, Wendy and Scott in the courtyard leading to the rear of the house.

Zhenya nodded to Neil and reloaded his AN-94. The rifle chewed through ammunition fast and the last thing he wanted twas to be caught with an empty gun in a room clearing scenario. He made sure that it was in full-automatic mode before looking at Neil and nodding. "Ready?" He asked, but he knew that the question was rhetorical. Neil had better be ready, since anymore waiting and the enemy would probably figure out that something was about to happen. Zhenya took out a breaching charge - a squarish block that was little more than C4 shaped to explode in a certain direction - and planted it on the door.

"Clear!" He shouted, looked away from the door and pressed the detonator. The rickety door exploded inwards in a shower of wooden shrapnel. Beneath the loud boom of the blast, Zhenya heard the familiar sounds of people yelling in agony. Looks like there had been people waiting to exit the building, after all. "Go!" Zhenya shouted to Neil and motioned for him to enter the building first. He waited until the Australian was through the door before storming into the right-side room that was just behind the door. He went from corner to corner to make sure that he had swept every inch of the room before going through a door way which led into another room.

He spotted an enemy aiming an AK right at him and reacted without the slightest of hesitations. The AN-94's high rate of fire meant that two bullets struck the enemy in the chest within seconds of one another. The insurgent dropped to the ground, dead. "Rooms clear!" Zhenya reported as he went through another doorway leading back to the central corridor.

Scott had huddled down behind the 249, laid prone behind what little cover he could find. He'd managed to find a position with a good angle of fire into the compound, and when Jan gave the order, he opened up with a good deal of suppressive fire. The para stock of the light machine-gun kicked into his shoulder as it thundered away. Empty casings and spent link tumbled to the floor in a waterfall of jingling metal as he liberally laid a pattern down to keep the insurgents away from Zhenya and Jan as they advanced to the door. He tagged a couple of hostiles who were brave enough to poke their heads out to fire; the 5.56mm rounds spun them around, or danced them like puppets on jerky strings before they collapsed, blood mingling with the dusty soil.
Rounds snapped past his helmet, and he swiveled in position, hosing a stream of rounds in the direction of fire, and was rewarded as another man went down.
"No targets," he announced as the Jan and Zhenya reached the door and breached with a charge. Picking up the gun, he dashed over to cover the rear angle as the pair entered the building.

Wendy scrambled to regain her composure, grabbing her Mk14 and moving to Scott's left, mounting the bipod and getting set. She peered through the ACOG sight, waiting for Jan's order to rain down fire on the tangos in front of her. Whatever Scott couldn't hit, she would pick off herself. She tried her best to ignore the sound of the M249 strumming away, and went to go find any other tangos that happened to hinder Jan and Zhenya breaching the door. She pulled on the trigger, sending 7.26mm rounds down the field, hopefully allowing them to meet their target and make Zhenya and Jan's job easier. Wendy hoped that the pair didn't have to mobilize, since she was injured and unable to mobilize quick enough. She managed to locate another brave soul that dared to fire at the two, and Wendy made quick work of him and fired a burst of rounds at him, dispatching him and watching him crumple like a bag of rocks.

Wendy kept low as she felt rounds whiz over her head, and let Scott deal with the damn person as she found a pair of people running over towards the squad below, dispatching them rather effortlessly with two carefully placed rounds to their heads. "No targets visible!" She said, around the same time Scott announced his status as well. She undid the bipod as she watched Scott get up from the corner of her eye, prompting her to follow suit and limp as fast as she could to cover the rear angle with Scott.

(Sorry about the lack of my thought process. I really do need to keep up with this.)

Neil looked over, already set as Zhenya had the charge placed. As it went off, blowing the obstacle inside out the way and rupturing the door, Neil charged in, moving on the left as he assessed the situation, with two on the floor from the shrapnel. Five 5.56 bullets quickly slotted the two with clean body shots, whilst a third further down the room, a little further from the blast, attempted to respond. Neil sent four rounds his way, two taking his abdomen and one in the head, knocking him straight to the ground, as time gradually crept back to normal. Looking at Zhenya, the room cleared, they pushed ahead, Zhenya two-shotting an insergent with a rapid burst from the AN-94, reminding Neil why that weapon was so formidable after all. Moving behind, he scanned the area, and going back into the corridor, took one one last insergent who had positioned himself badly, one AK shot slamming into the ceiling as Neil slotted two rounds into his chest.
"Yeah, we're clear. Look around, we're looking for a canister here." Neil said, as he looked over at Zhenya- Neil himself adjusting his helmet and plate carrier, as he put a new magazine into his AUG. Going into the breached room, he couldn't see anything but bodies and a small store of weapons, and going into the next room, nothing neither. Neil had a bad feeling that this wasn't the place- and knew that if Zhenya found nothing too, that they'd be fighting hard to get this.
Meanwhile in the courtyard, Jan ran with his head low, a grenade further in the distance kicking up shrapnel as he slid into cover by an old Volksvagen Golf of sorts. Peeking over, he found two targets, one with a GP-25 strapped to his AK. Jan peeked carefully from his crouching position, and sent a two couples of 5.56 rounds, bullets slamming into the metal of the car and kicking up dust as Scott and Wendy continued the suppression fire, this time pinning them down.
"Okay, Wendy, Scott, on my position! Neil, give me a sit rep on that house!" Jan yelled over comms, having to raise his voice due to the gunfire that was close.
"We're still looking, we'll get your rear once we're done here, out." Neil replied, the noise of 7.62 fire meeting 5.56 rounds was loud as fuck.
Jan himself up, as he looked over at what Scott and Wendy had done, the building at this point riddled with shots and anyone that was there dead.
"Right, they're doing two things. They're all dead, or they've fallen back to regroup. Stay close you two- Neil and Zhenya have got our backs, we sweep out every room and make sure that we get this." Jan simply said, looking at Wendy and Scott, aware of the former's wound in her leg. It had been patched up to a decent extent by Scott, but even still, it was going to need a look at sooner rather than later. Flipping a new PMAG from his plate carrier, Jan dropped the magazine out of his 416 and replaced it, grabbing the falling mag as he then looked back, moving at a combat pace as he kept his weapon raised.

"I really hope that Iraqi team up front held out if we did force them out. Shit, if they're going their way, they won't stand a chance in a sustained firefight. Civies too. Scott, stack up on that door, right side. Wendy, go on his side too, fully automatic with that thing- you take middle, I'll get us the door opened." Jan simply said, as he lowered his 416, pulling out his compacted 870 from his hip- one in particular with the stock sawn-off and a shortened barrel. It was perfect for breaching, but not so much for combat, due to the lack of accuracy it now had thanks to the barrel length. Wedging it into the hinge, aware that they'd have had the sense to probably lock it behind.
"Okay...I'll sweep right, we'll move through the rooms quickly and rapidly. Scott, go for your sidearm- you take point and go left, kick the fucker down. Sarah, make a following sweep, stick close." Jan said, adjusting his Wiley sunglasses, the stubbled Pole in his desertified and dusted PUMA camouflage on his BDU looking prepared. Pulling the trigger on the 870, the hinge blew open, as Jan shoved it into the one closer to the top, shooting another shell as the entire door almost collapsed. Shoving two more rounds into the weapon, as Scott got to work on kicking the now unsupported door down, he knew that this time, that this was it. No ifs, no buts. The faster they got this, the better. And Jan knew that he didn't want another Grozny happening here. That sickened him to death, just that idea in itself. It wasn't going to happen, not on his watch.
"Go go go!" Jan yelled, as the door came down, Jan moving from his position on the left of the door and inside on the right, the compact 870 raised and now prepared to cement pellets into any target it found.

Scott nodded at Jan's words, swinging the M249 on it's strap around to his back, and making sure it was securely out of the way, before drawing his Mk.23 and brass-checking the large .45, and nodding to Jan and Wendy as he stacked up on his side of the door. He pulled his scarf up over his mouth, protecting against dust and fragments, before the shotgun sounded with a deafening report. Rearing back, the Brit put his considerable weight and strength into a kick to the door frame, and snarled as it collapsed into splinters, falling back into the room.
He bought the handgun up as his foot came down, and moved into a loping run, following behind Jan with the shotgun raised, his pistols' laser stabbing into the dim, dust-choked light of the buildings' interior.

Zhenya went over the rooms he had swept once more, this time checking to make sure the insurgents did not have anything hidden away somewhere. The floor and walls of the building was pretty much compacted earth and that made them prime locations to hide anything. They would just have to dig a hole, throw whatever they wanted hidden in and cover it with dirt and no one would be able to find them. Zhenya ran his hands along the wall, rapping them with his knuckles every now and then to look for the distinctive soft texture of a recently remodeled wall. He had to be quick; the captain and the rest of the squad were already preparing to assault the last building.

He reached the room where he had killed the insurgent earlier, and that was when he noticed something he had missed earlier during the rush of combat. Part of the floor near the center of the room felt a lot softer than the other parts of the room. Curious, Zhenya knelt and inspected the spot. It was darker than the rest of the floor, and experience from Chechnya told him that this meant that the ground had been recently disturbed. "Neil!" He called out and waited for the Australian to approach before continuing. "Looks like someone was burying something just before we got here." He said and drew his shovel.

He sank the blade into the earth and carefully removed layers of sand and mud. After a few seconds of digging, he came upon a few cylindrical canisters, each of them roughly the size of a smoke grenade or flashbang. Zhenya took one out and handed it to Neil. "Not sure what's in these, but if they buried it...It has to be something important." He said and stood up, turning over one of the canisters in his hands. "Captain, we found something." He said into his microphone. "Small canisters, unmarked and filled with unknown contents." He said and checked the canister for any inscriptions. Unfortunately, he found none. "We've only got four in this building. Looks like they buried it just before we breached the place."

Zhenya tucked the canister into one of his pouches. "We should go assist the captain. It is likely the insurgents will have more in the last buildings." He said to Neil before adding with a smirk, "I'd like to see what's in this as well. Maybe I can try it on the insurgents, see how they like it."

Wendy got up and followed Scott to where he would stack up on the door. Along the way, she withdrew her Mk14, and ended up drawing her P229. She slid the slide back, allowing a round to be chambered as she slammed herself against the wall behind Scott. She leaned forward so she would be able to start faster, and all she could do right now is wait for Jan to deploy his 870 and breach. She put her goggles down to shield herself against the incoming dust and pebbles and shrapnel that would be kicked up as they breached. She also had to make sure her Mk14 was secure, and wouldn't dangle around as she dashed inside. Once she heard the 870 fire and the unmistakable sound of a door being kicked in, she followed Scott inside, raising her pistol in sync with her foot, her eyes peering through the sights on the pistol as she tried to obtain a target.

(RP is sadly on hiatus till Silverwind comes back. I can't really run it without his character sadly- and though the pace was about to just get going, there's nothing I can really do. I'll post up my last- though this RP is not dead, it's simply on hold till he comes back or I figure out what to do next.)

Neil looked over, watching as Zhenya found the canisters, buried in the dirt, watching as he reported it. It wasn't the main deal, this was far to insginficant, but Neil somehow knew it had to be something of some significance, that this was far more portable and deployable than what they were truly hunting.
"Shit, nice find." Neil simply said, as he covered his back with the AUG, already looking to find any enemy that might come in or flank them. As Zhenya continued on, this time to Neil, he shook his head, as he led the way out, just not wanting to repeat what Zhenya had just said in his head. But it still echoed somehow. "Maybe I can try it." It was just that, it was too eerie to Neil. It was as if Zhenya was talking with a Russian responsibility to reiterate to the people that had been involved in the orchestration of Grozny He had to respond, he couldn't let it linger. But it made Neil ill in some regards, just to hear that, it just reminded him that foreign policy was a very thin wire and though they were punishing the TIAF for it, that somehow, Neil inferred that Zhenya wanted much worse to happen.
"Not a chance mate. Fuck, we ain't got a clue of what potency that shit has, and let's not remind ourselves of what that stuff does. Look, let's get moving, they're already making a start." Neil said, moving out of the house with a combat pace, weapon high and aimed well, as he led the way through the last third of the courtyard towards the rest of the team's position. They had already gone in, but Neil and Zhenya knew that the least they could do was cover, as the Australian moved into cover behind a clay wall, already scanning for targets on the floor above. No movement gave him an indicator, as he flung himself over, his combat pacing consistent with the AUG as he did what he could to not miss a beat, not miss a corner or a opened door that he hadn't seen before that an enemy could charge from. He knew that Zhenya had his back, but in return, he had to have Zhenya's. The team trusted itself, and that was of most importance after all, since they would get killed if they didn't.
As Scott smashed the door in with his foot, Jan was charging in almost with a finesse and movement that suggested he was moving at a pace of concentration. Raising the shotgun, as he moved through the door and immediately swept right, he found right away one man running straight for the door who was quickly filled with buckshot, Scott now following in and taking a target on his left. He pumped the 870, already finding another target down the room, and the second 12 Gauge round tore the man apart, as Jan knew it was his last shell left that was going into the chamber. But it would do. Jan simply shot at a man further down the large room on his side, burying a wide round into him that knocked him down, but didn't kill him straight away, on account of only some of the buckshot finding it's way to him. Jan went straight back to the strap of his 416, already raising it in replacement as he knew he was empty now, the 3+1 magazine gone, and scanned the large room for anyone else. He put two rounds into the man that he had shot earlier as he moved, looking around for anything else, almost ready to yell the five letter word to let the team know they were done with this room.

Before that even happened, a man got up from behind a collapsed table and tossed a grenade, running rather than shooting as Jan's mind set to doing something about it. In this proximity, even with a plate carrier, none of them would really stand a chance in the open and live to tell about it. He had four seconds from the moment that the man had popped up and was just in mid run, to yell whatever would get himself, Scott and Wendy a chance to not get blown up.
"Out the door, MOVE!" Jan yelled, as he sprayed rounds towards the assailant, only realizing as he turned from the corner of his eye that he had something in his right hand. A canister. Jan didn't care for that right now, he wanted to live. He was furthest from the breach point, and he knew that he had to get around some corner, or something at least. Scott and Wendy would make it, and only now, Jan hoped he would, as his feet moved in a way that he couldn't describe, with such ferocity and madness that only could be seen in Afghanistan. The grenade set down on the floor, roughly a meter down the room, as Jan knew he was almost out of time, diving through towards the doorway where they had breached and he could tell Wendy and Scott were just about to get clear. Jan couldn't do much now, as he felt his body hit the dirt, just hoping that either of them would pull him in to where they were, and out of the way of the shrapnel that would direct itself all over the room now. In almost musing thought, he knew that they were going to have to chase this man, as otherwise, this would be for nothing. In his right hand, he had something much more significant than what Zhenya had described. From what he vaguely could use as a last memory, it was about the size of a small suitcase, but with no indicators of it being what he genuinely didn't want it to be from his findings in Turkey. This was what they were here for.

(REBOOT- Silverwind I believe is next up to post, I'll write something short and set up the next segment. Carry on lads.)

The grenade detonated with a deafening noise, Jan feeling the force as he felt himself barely by the side of the mudbrick door, at least staying out of the main spray of the shrapnel. The blast kicked his lungs hard, it felt vividly painful to some extent, and wasn't something that even his plate carrier would stop entirely. Coughing hard, Jan clambered back up, his shortened 870 to hand, as he looked to the others, the seconds feeling like hours, as he knew that there was one man, and he was a runner.
"Fuck! Aim for the leg, that bastard's got what we're looking for!" Jan yelled, as Neil, checking his own AUG, pushed up behind, the team re-entering the room. They needed to clear the house, and quickly- one of the canisters was possibly going to leave the building, and giving them time to think about a coherent plan wouldn't work well in Lima's favor
"Scott, on point- I'll back you up, you know the drill. Zhenya, Wendy, sweep upstairs, check every corner, Neil, maintain rear security. We ain't letting this prick run." Jan said authoritatively to the team, as he swept through with the reloaded 870, the three plus one rounded weapon tactile and useful in a scenario such as this. Moving up, the 870 raised, he stuck behind Scott, covering his back from anything that threatened to flank or outsweep them.

Scott dived through the door as Jan yelled, grabbing Wendy's plate carrier by the drag handle and tugging her to safety too as he half-ducked, half-fell into cover. Hugging the dusty floor, he winced as the grenade detonated with an eye-watering concussion, leaving his ears ringing. Loose chunks of plaster fell from the ceiling, furniture (meager as it was) collapsed, and the air was full of choking dust.
Spluttering, the SAS trooper climbed to his feet and staggered in to the kitchen. Jan was already picking himself up and ordering them into action. Scott eyed him a brief moment, nodding to confirm the pole was okay, before he sprang into action, moving to take point. He moved swiftly on the trail of the man who'd exited the room in a hurry, Mk.23 held firmly in both hands. Moving swiftly despite his size and bulk, he pushed through the doorway at the rear of the dining-type room into a sparse kitchen. No souls inhabited the room, and he shouted a terse 'clear', before moving through the door at his left; emerging into a hall. A shadow moved at the end of the room, darting up the stairs. Another figure moved, raising a sub-machinegun and yammering in a language he didn't understand. Scott ducked low and opened fire with the Mk.23, the heavy pistol bucking in his hands as the two rounds hit centre mass.
"Target down," he called and moved on. "I think the hostiles gone upstairs, I'll-"
He cut off as another hostile slammed into him from the right, out of the hallway, and he hit the side of the staircase hard. grappling with the man, he managed to ram a fist into his stomach, but received a cut from a vicious-looking knife along his right forearm. With his combat shirt rolled up in the heat, it left an angry wound that spilled blood near instantly, before he hit the attacker with a right cross in the enclosed space, driving him back. The SOCOM was lost in the struggle, and the Englishman struggled to draw a breath, before another punch hammered on the back of his neck and he stumbled back.

"Understood, captain." Zhenya said with a nod, even though he doubted their target would head for the second floor. It made no sense, if he was trying to escape, he was only making things harder for himself by getting to higher ground. Still, orders were orders, even if Zhenya disagreed with them. "We will take the stairs at the front of the house. If he runs to the second floor, he will run straight into us." He said as he moved out of the room, tapping Wendy on the shoulder and gesturing for her to follow as he passed. Zhenya swore that Neil and he had seen a flight of stairs close the front door when they entered and felt a certain sense of validation when he rounded a corner and saw the stairs right in front of him.

"I will take point." He said tersely to Wendy and advanced quickly but carefully to the stairs, aiming down the sights of his rifle as he did so. He stopped right at the foot of the stairs and aimed up at the landing on the second floor. Seeing that it was clear, he walked up at a brisk pace, but kept himself mentally prepared for an enemy surprising him once he reached the top. With no knowledge of the building's layout, they could be walking straight into machine gun's killzone. Zhenya stopped a few steps away from the top of the stairs and stood up straight to catch a glimpse of the second floor. From his quick glance, he saw that it was clear, with a single corridor leading to the right.

"Clear," He said and quickly climbed up the last few steps, turning to the right once he reached the top and advancing down the corridor. There was another right turn up ahead into what he assumed was another corridor. The only sounds of a fight seemed to be coming from downstairs, and that only served to remind Zhenya of the urgency of their task. Hoping that the makers of his ballistic vest knew what they were doing, he rounded the corner without any prior checking, and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was clear of all hostiles. Less pleasant, however, was the sight of several doorways to their left. He counted at least three, and another right turn at the end of the corridor.

"Wendy, clear the rooms. I will cover you." Zhenya said, not taking his eyes off the end of the corridor as he switched his rifle to its automatic fire mode. From what little Zhenya could see of the rooms, they appeared to be quite small; not at all a good place to bring the AN-94, especially since their target could be hiding in one of them. A stray bullet would be all it took to bomb the entire mission, and the AN-94 was incredibly adept at filling the air with them.

Wendy was abruptly pulled back onto the ground as she heard Jan yell, and was dragged to a safe point before hearing and feeling an intense explosion. The shockwaves dazed her, and she couldn't breath through her balaclava momentarily, as dust was kicked up into the air. She coughed a bit roughly, before she scrambled to her feet and stood up, still a bit dazed. She shook her head, trying to ignore the after effects of having a grenade blow up within a few feet of her. If her leg didn't hurt before, it definitely hurt now, but she was trained to deal with the pain. As she stood up, Zhenya tapped her on the shoulder, and gave her a signal to follow her.

She nodded as she followed him up the stairs, her pistol still in her hands as she stuck right behind him, pistol pointed next to him as he gave the signal indicating that the corridor before them was clear. She moved up to his right side, pistol pointed to the front of them. Sounds of a conflict were coming from down below, which was never a good sign. As Zhenya gave her something to do, and nodded, "Got it." She said, lining up behind the nearest room. She burst in through the door of the first room, raising her pistol and seeing absolutely nothing as she dragged herself against an adjacent wall. "Clear!" She said, as she exited the room.

This was going to be a rather long process, as the rooms weren't connected inside so she couldn't just go through and such. She lined up behind the next room, repeating the same process only to repeat the result of the last search - nothing. That would mean the next room would probably contain their target, and Wendy had to be especially vigilant on these next ones. She took a deep breath as she walked briskly outside, before finally breaching into the next room. The content of the next room wasn't exactly what she wanted to find, in fact, it was the exact opposite. Their target was in there, but he was sitting on a chair, holding a detonator strapped to canisters of the compound along with explosives. "Shoot, and all of you die." He uttered.

(Two part post with Queen- post schedule is as normal after my next.)

Jan moved through, watching Scott get thrown back by the soldier, as he kept right as his back. He couldn't fire the 870, not a chance- it relied on sweeping Scott's flanks, not direct. So he did the only thing he knew he could, as he watched Scott lose his weapon, the Mk23 falling to the floor as the .45 ACP weapon was out of his reach, Scott now thrown back, and Jan able to move quickly. He had been unable to shoot as the shot was too compromised- but he had a split second, a moment, a chance to stop this, quickly and cleanly. The man stood over Scott after punching him in the back of the neck, the man preparing to do something worse, with the utensil of his in his right hand, as he darted forward. Jan responded, already words and action forming as his right hand clasped the grip and the trigger, already acting.
"Head down!" Jan yelled, as he flanked the man that had slashed Scott, moving in and aiming the weapon upwards. The man didn't have a helmet or a ballistic vest, but it wouldn't help. The 12G Buckshot emptied, the fairly tight spread decimating the man as Jan directed it high purposely, the shot pumped out as the man fell, the buck doing brutal work against the man, as Jan scanned up the stairs, and around the rest of the corridor, before looking down on Scott.
"You save my ass, I'll save yours. Come on." Jan said, looking down as he offered a hand to Scott to get up, Neil sweeping the rear as he followed in, AUG raised as he moved through, the room empty but covered in dust. The grenade had literally torn pieces of the mudbrick and plaster apart, with some of it still loose even now. Putting the 870 away after loading a new round, Jan switched over to his own HK45C, the weapon tight in his hands as he looked around.
"Neil, head outside round the front with Scott, I'll head up. Fire's died down outside, keep your ears open. Zhenya, Wendy, status?" Jan added, as Neil nodded, moving himself forwards as he knew that Scott and himself would cover each other. Jan headed up, sweeping with the HK, checking corners as the Puma-camoflaged soldier headed towards where Zhenya and Wendy were, and sweeping behind, then realized what was happening.

Headed towards the front door, Neil kicked the open structure, as he realized what was going on, with Scott in tow.
"Boss, the Iraqi team's dead...contact's moving across the street, PID a guy with a canister plus two more headed to an old Mercedes. This the real deal?" Neil said, as he raised his AUG rifle, watching them run towards the vehicle, keeping within the house, the response falling on an unresponsive ear as Jan followed suit into the room in which Wendy and Zhenya had come into, with a certain pace. He saw the man across the other end of the room, sat, the detonator raising and not a single other thought of what it was. Jan's own pistol was raised, but the dead man's trigger could be seen in the frame of his hand. Something that any SF operator would look for, without a single doubt of mind
"Drop it!" Jan yelled, as the man raised it higher, guessing only one way was going to work to stop this man from doing it. There was no chance of getting the gas mask on, and neither would exactly running now be an option. There wasn't time to talk, and listen to demands. They'd die, either by trying to stop this man, or letting him get the jump when their guard down. But it wasn't his shot to make. It was Wendy's, and she already was set.

Wendy took a few deep breaths as the man raised the detonator higher. The situation had escalated immensely, and it was now or never. Everything seemed to slow down as she began to move her weapon over to the one spot that would guarantee him to let go of the detonator. She controlled her breathing, making sure this shot counted. In seconds turned to minutes as she applied pressure on the trigger, sights lined up with his wrist as she finally applied enough pressure to make it fire, feeling the gun kick back and a spent round eject as the round made its way into and out of the man's wrist, dropping the detonator as Wendy moved the pistol a few inches to the left and shot one last bullet into his head.

She sighed as she put down her pistol, knowing the man was now taken care of . "Tango down." She uttered, staring at the dead man in front of her.

Jan moved through, watching Wendy take the shot as he knew that Wendy had done what he had seen in the corner of his eye, and capitalized on the chance, the round going through his hand and then his head, in a flawless and almost machine-perfect motion. The man dropped back, bloody as the 9mm rounds punched a pair of holes, and Jan darted forwards, already moving the detonator in such a way that it was away from the man, in any circumstance.
"Jan, we got permission to shoot?" Jan heard again, as he looked over at the body, the voice through his headset, which was attached to his Ops Core helmet, now beginning to become loud and clear.
"Hold it, aim for tyres only if they make a move. Kurwa, that was close." He said, looking over at the canisters and explosives, before realizing something.
"This isn't it. Not the same guy, not the same markings. Other one didn't have a beard..." Jan said, aware that the chemical warheads weren't active, but were remotely detonated, if he could infer the detonation process. As he opened up one of the secure metal canisters, he saw the inside, the protective metal casing and the only thing between Jan and a dose of chemicals that would turn his body into an unresponsive heap of meat now what was left. But there wasn't anything. It was only the outer metal casing, no inner that housed the chemical weapon itself.
"And these are empty...they wouldn't detonate anything like this here, no fucking effect...Wendy, Neil, avoid direct fire on the canister man, but suppress the vehicle up! Scott, run for the HMWWV and follow down the street to us- Zhenya, with me. I really don't like what we're about to do..." Jan said, as he pushed it back sealed, stepping over the dead man's body, as he switched back to his 416. Extending the stock back out and checking the M145's top sight, Jan pushed downstairs, moving two steps at a time, as he heard the noise of gunfire outside.

Neil ran out, headed towards the front wall, already keeping down as AKM fire poured overhead from the vehicle. Peeking over, he laid down fire from the AUG, aiming for the vehicle in general, as they clambered in, and the engine, already running, rumbled louder, signalling the end of the rough and ready AKM fire across the housefront. Firing the rest of the mag of the AUG, Neil cursed, angry that he hadn't fired earlier with Scott, as the vehicle began to barely skid away, Jan, Wendy and Zhenya now rushing out the front.
"Move!" Jan yelled in general, as he kept the 416 high, civilians running back into cover behind benches and bus stops or whatever street furniture there was, as he ran down the sidewalk, occasionally popping off a stray of fire, as the Mercedes' occupants were clearly too focused on getting out, rather than laying down rear supressive fire.
"Rest of you, get in the jeep and move up the road! They're about to take a right, traffic is teeming but we can snatch them- just pull over at our position, Scott, and we'll continue the chase." Jan added, as he knew that in this gear, running was hard, but a necessity. Civilians kept out of the way, as the pair ran down the road, aware that things were going from bad to worse. Running across the road, almost getting hit by a speeding old Renault of some sort, Jan barged through some stall, aware he wasn't on good terms with the locals anyway, aware Zhenya was sticking close behind. Since the HMWWV with the M2 GPK atop it was about 300m down the road from the house they had just raided, running would keep up some element of vehicular tracking for now, or at least, would buy enough time to understand where the terrorists were going. They were going to have to deploy this in a market, or a square of some sort for maximum effect- not in a moving vehicle, since that wouldn't allow for the initial bloom of the chemicals to spread rapidly, and instead, would be far too ineffective. And for that, Jan knew that keeping up with where they were taking it was going to be crucial, as to stop this- even if it meant almost sprinting down across a busy roadway to at least keep an visual on where it was going to turn. Jan only begged in his mind that traffic would at least stop them from going any faster. These thoughts were rough and tumble, the heat biting hard as Jan's breath sagged in places, the Captain just trying to keep pace for however best he could.

Zhenya entered the room alongside Wendy just as the man uttered his words. Immediately, the Russian shouldered his rifle and aimed it square at the man's chest, though he was certainly not going to fire. The captain's appearance seemed to only further aggravate the situation, but Wendy put a quick end to it when she pulled off a couple of impressive shots; the first into the man's wrist, and the second into his head. However, any hopes of an end to the mission were quickly dashed when the captain informed the team that the dead man was, in fact, not their target. Zhenya followed the captain as they rushed out of the compound and onto the streets of the surrounding city.

"Ahead," Zhenya said in between breaths, keeping an eye on the Mercedes they were following. It seemed like a fool's errand, to chase a car on foot, and through such a cluttered city, no less, but they had to at least try. Grozny had already been hit, the last thing anyone needed was for one more city to be wiped out by whatever chemical the TIAF were manufacturing and fielding. At the back of his mind, however, Zhenya toyed with the idea of perhaps using the TIAF chemicals to strike at their own homebase. A sort of poetic justice, but Zhenya knew that it could only ever be a fantasy. There was no way the captain and NATO would approve of such an action, and neither would Russia. The Soviet Union, maybe, but definitely not Russia.

Zhenya made a hasty left turn as he followed the vehicle, but soon lost track of it as it blended in among the dozens of cars on the streets. Looking behind him, he noticed much to his dismay that he had been separated from the captain from the confusion. Taking in a deep breath, he assessed the situation and came up with the best course of action. If he could get to high ground, he could at least try to relocate the vehicle by making an educated guess about its path. With that in mind, Zhenya continued following the car's last known path, continuing past the area where had lost sight of it and entering a nearby apartment block. It must have been a strange and terrifying sight for the residents to see a fully armed Russian running up the stairs, and even scarier for the family at the very top floor, whose door Zhenya broke down while yelling for them to remain calm. It worked about as well as he had hoped, meaning to say not at all. The father made a brave show of standing up to the Russian, but a few quick words convinced him to just sit down and wait.

Zhenya walked to the window and looked out at the city below, looking though the scope of his rifle. He spotted many cars of a Mercedes-make, but only one was driving erratically, trying to go around traffic rather than waiting it out like the rest. That had to be the one; no one else would even try to drive like a character out of the Fast and Furious in such an environment. That was the good news. The bad news was that Zhenya had somehow managed to get ahead of the car. Maybe they had taken a few turns, not at all an outlandish idea considering that Scott was probably tailing them in the Humvee. Regardless, Zhenya knew he had to act fast; the insurgents were approaching a crowded junction where they could easily disappear.

"Thank you," Zhenya said tersely to the family as he bolted past them and back down the stairs. He rushed back out onto the streets, working from memory as to which route the car was on. From what he had seen, there were almost no side-streets that were accessible by car, so it had to be driving in a straight line towards the junction. He soon reached the mouth of the junction, or at least one of its mouths. It was about as chaotic as he had imagined. Horns blared all around, people were gesturing wildly and swearing at one another. Still, cars were moving and Zhenya had to put a stop to that. A frozen junction would easily act as a massive roadblock for the target vehicle. "Zhenya to Lima. Target vehicle is en route to junction near city center." He reported over the radio. "I will stop them. Wait."

He ran towards a convoy of trucks, most likely just transiting though the city after delivering supplies to a region undergoing reconstruction. With the length of each truck and the number of them in the convoy, a stop by any of them would easily put a dent in the insurgents' plans. Zhenya dodged and weaved through the traffic, getting sworn at with each car he ran across, but soon he reached the leading truck just as it was about to turn into another road. He ran in front of it and pointed his rifle straight at the driver. "Stop!" Zhenya yelled and held his hand out. As expected, the terrified driver slammed on the brakes. The entire convoy came to a halt, disrupting traffic. Adding to the growing gridlock were the number of motorists who had either stopped or slowed down to see what was going on. "Zhenya to Lima, Junction is now at a standstill."

Scott stood , wincing, after Jan had put the insurgent down, taking Jan's hand.
"Thanks, mate" he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I guess I slipped up on that one".
He scooped up the SOCOM from the floor, and followed the others, catching up as Jan issued their next moves. Nodding, sprinted out of the house and back the way they'd come. Dashing across the yard, he bundled into the desert tan hummer, piling his M249 into the vehicle before starting the engine. He gunned the engine, the big, wide utility vehicle scrabbling for purchase on the dusty street before it lurched into motion and took off at a fast pace under his hand.
Weaving through the disorganized traffic, he pushed the vehicle as much as he could, palming the horn almost constantly to get through snarls of traffic, or pedestrians drifting onto and off of the road.
"Scott here," he called over the radio, weaving the hummvee around a parked delivery van. "En route now." He caught sight of Jan and the others darting around pedestrians and traffic, and honked the horn and flashed the headlights. "I've got eyes on you now, tell me when to pull over".

Wendy nodded, before walking out of the room, putting her pistol away and replacing it with her Mk14 as she emerged out of the room, walking down the stairs as she was given her assignment. Hopefully, Wendy would be able to handle aiming in a vehicle, as it wasn't exactly in her natural environment, but she'd be able to adapt, hopefully. As she walked out the building, she began to sprint towards Scott's Humvee as Neil laid down suppressing fire. As Wendy clambered in, she got adjusted and made herself comfortable as Scott took off, driving like a maniac as she situated herself. All she could do now was to wait, wait until she got a shot so she could help take care of this situation.

Scott toed the brakes to slow down as Wendy climbed into the Hummvee, nodding as she got in.
"Meter's running, miss," he said with thin smile. "Where to?"
Taking off with a slight spray of dust and gravel on the loose-surfaced road. He slowed somewhat as they moved through the streets, heading toward the location of the others. He glanced over at Wendy, noting her tight grip on her rifle and eyes focused on the road ahead. If possible, he'd get her the shot she needed, but keeping speed up to keep track of the hostiles was as much a priority as anything. Losing them would be the end of the mission.
