That's part of the reason nobody liked Part V. Unless you really liked cool stands.

Well, I'll leave a basic explanation for when you return with your beverage that disgraces the name of beer:
Solaire, Knight of the Sun and adherent to the Lord of Sunlight, Gwyn, has a fascination, nay, an infatuation with the sun. He views it as a grossly incandescent body
that should be respected, and as such, believes that if he has strong faith in delivering to others the same sense of warmth and comfort that the sun gives to him, that maybe, someday, he could became as incandescent as the sun itself. As such, the term "Praise the Sun" was placed in the game due to the sun being a major focus, as well as fire. You can leave the message "Praise the Sun!" anywhere in Dark Souls, and you can even learn a gesture that lets your character perform the "Rising Sun" yoga pose.

In Dark Souls 2, the faith in the sun has dwindled, but there are still some who believe in the warmth that shines above...and...

That they're champion, watches over them, having already become one with the light he so adored.

Basically, Solaire is like the Emprah of Dark Souls. Only less world-ending-powerful and more of a benevolent soul that has your back all the way, to the point where he's the only person who selflessly aids your journey. And I do mean, the ONLY one.

He also says a lot of memes spawned from him, like Praise the Sun and what not. If its a meme from Dark Souls, chances are its from him. Dark Souls 2 came out not too long ago and there are still hints from him, so everyone is bringing him back.
