So, if you've not even heard of Gintama before - it's this at it's most basic description:
Edo-era, Modern-era and Sci-Fi, all crammed into one ridiculous but great anime/manga. That's really the only way I can explain it O_o It would be a semi-non-canon RP (oh god) meaning that there will be everything from the anime in this RP, but it's going to feature a lot of new characters, new groups possibly, and it might alter the universe a bit. So I guess I could've just called it Alternate Universe, but then.. we still need the Yorozuya, Shinsengumi, Shogunate, Kiheitai and whatnot around for this! So it's a semi-non-canon RP, god damn it that doesn't even sound remotely organized! q_q
For those of you who know what I'm talking about, this RP would be mostly revolved around the Shinsengumi and any allies they have in their fight against various Joui (Anti-Foreigner) Factions, Shinsuke Takasugi's Kiheitai, and the Harusame Space Pirates. For those of you who have no idea, Shinsengumi means 'Special Military Police Force', and in Gintama they're tasked with the protection of Edo (Old Tokyo), the seat of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Capital of Japan, and it's people from the rogue factions I mentioned in the last line. Now, Gintama's not necessarily an all-serious thing - it's actually ridiculously silly or funny at times, so we should try and replicate zat to make this more fun!
So uh, for those who dunno what's going on, the reason this is also a Sci-Fi... Aliens (Amanto) came to Earth decades ago by the time Gintama's story takes place. Their arrival caused a lot of unrest, and that's why there are Anti-Foreigner (Joui) Factions in existence - they freakin' detest the Amanto for all the trouble they've caused - namely the ban on carrying swords, and the general curbstomping of all Samurai because of their fighting spirit that.. actually did a ton of damage to the Amanto when they first showed up (yeah, even with superior technology they still got their asses kicked!), so those are things that got the Joui Factions angry, and those are the reasons why they won't stand down and let the Amanto trample over everything Japan is/was. Eventually though, the majority of Joui factions got gradually beaten down to nothing or accepted the Amanto as 'neighbours' (more like Superiors), and Edo was changed considerably. Now it looks half-traditional, while more towards the center there are skyscrapers and whatnot, and in the center of Edo is the 'Terminal', a spaceport. The rest of Japan likely didn't change all that much, as Edo is the most important thing to the Amanto. *shrugs*
And with all that out of the way, I'm going to STFU and let people say if they're interested or not. Well, if they're interested. If they're not they'll just.. back off and not say anything.. yeah.. I'll stop talking now. ^_^
