If one were to describe Lydia in general, they would say she was quiet. She hardly makes any noise when she walks or with anything she does. Lydia does not do anything irrationally; she analyzes the situation and plans out her moves carefully before she acts. Instead of being the center of attention, Lydia would prefer to be in the background where she can study, watch and learn. Lydia can also be very blunt; she is not afraid to say what's on her mind. She dislikes rude/loud people and tends to stay far away from them as she can. Because of her disability, Lydia is very independent and is loath to accept help and be viewed as weak. Mentally she is very strong but physically her body is very fragile though she acts like it is not; not wanting to seem weak. However, at times, despite her best attempts she is unable to do some things because of her lack of strength.
Lydia was born to two professor parents who was set on their child growing up and becoming a professor like them. Instead however, Lydia grew up uninterested in any of that. Her passion lied with the arts. When she was five she learned how to play the piano and in school she took every art class she could. She was happy, knowing she had found what she wanted to do in life. Her parents were disappointed in her but she cared not. Her life was going exactly as she wanted it too and she had decided at the age of eleven that she would get into Julliard. However, on her twelfth birthday all her dreams were shattered. Lydia and her parents had been on their to the restaurant where they were going to have Lydia's birthday dinner. When the light they had been sitting at turned green and the car moved forward, a drunk driver running his red light slammed into the passenger side in which Lydia and her mother were sitting on. Her father suffered a broken leg, her mother a broken cheek bone and fractured ankle. They all had cuts and bruises but it was Lydia's injury that was the most devastating. When the car hit them, Lydia's head had slammed against the window, jerked away then hit it again. This caused Lydia to acquire partial blindness. "Head trauma to the occipital lobe of the brain." Was the doctors diagnosis. It was irreversible and Lydia would be mostly blind for the rest of her life. Her art things were packed away, the girl now not able to make out enough to be able to paint. The only songs on the piano she could play where memorized ones but after the accident she never touched the instrument again. Her dreams of Julliard went out the window. As the years went by and she tried to coupe with her loss of sight, Lydia noticed something...odd. She noticed that if she concentrated on a living being she could actually see from their eyes, could smell what they smell. But she wasn't able to control the body. She also noticed she could tell what people were feeling and with practice could tweak their emotions. Of course, it only works on weak-minded people. The last thing she noticed was that when she touched things she could...see who had touched it or what the object had been through. And also, with that also came the knowledge on how to use the object. Her parents eventually found out about her powers and shipped her off to a facility where it was said they could "help" her become normal again.
Willow suffers from partial blindness. She can still make out objects but she has to concentrate hard to distinguish what things are. She is completely blind in darkness. This explains why her eyes are a very light gray, almost white.
