You know how the age-old saying goes. Finders, keepers. It's the creed of the thief. Your sticky fingers just always seem to end up in rich pockets, grabbing coin, jewel, and trinket. You have a knack for waiting in shadows, always hungry. Driven by greed. Larceny runs through your veins. Thievery always on the mind. Walking the cobbled streets of the morning, where others see citizens and townsfolk, you see targets and possibility. No guards looking. No danger in the area. Nice and quiet. Time to find you a fancy new coin purse.

All of this opportunity, of course, comes with a risk. A great one. A caught thief is a dead thief. A lone thief is a caught thief. Only takes one wrong movement, one misstep, one touch to a chap's bum before he realizes the emptiness of his pocket and the person right behind him, former contents of said pocket in the red hands of the thief. Our organization exists to unify as a band of thieves and make as much coin as possible, making sure our own don't get caught, and et cetera. Essentially, we're a group of people who would love nothing more than to rob the rich blind and find themselves with new possessions. Welcome to our Guild.

Though, you may have heard around that our outfit isn't doing so well. It is just a shadow of its former self. This is why we are trying to hire new members, as well as relearn the tools of our trade. We are taking a new approach to how we handle our jobs, to make sure our clients are most satisfied with our handiwork. No more jack-of-all-trades. The route we will be taking will be having everyone specialize in a form of crime, be it ambush, fishing, numbers, heists, robberies, fencing less-than-legal items, and et cetera. Everyone will have one specialization, and the very best just might have two. We are also expanding our resources to take on new jobs, like protective services and assassinations. Since these are fairly new, only experienced members can take them. There'll be plenty of opportunities to earn coin, so don't worry.
This RP is essentially about a guild of thieves trying to restore their guild to its former glory through specialization and new jobs.

This looks like a sound RP.

Just to say, I wasn't sure whether a 'free-running' skill could be counted as a speciality, as most thief guild rp's tend to have that as a default skill for characters, but I've put it as a speciality for my character for the time being. Please let me know if free-running is considered a default ability in this rp and I will gladly change it to something else. Also, in my character's bio I alluded to some vague aspects of the Guild's organisation, please let me know if these don't fit in with your own established background and I'll change it accordingly.

Appearance/Description:



Slender and lean in build and height, Shae cuts a perfect figure for flighting across the rooftops and slipping into the shadows unnoticed. Though the majority of her is slim, almost lanky, there is a noticeable definition in her upper arms, as well as a stretching bulk of muscle in her legs that allow her to sprint across the tiled upper reaches of any town easily.


Her skin is a pale ochre colour, whilst her hair is a dark-russet that hangs on either side of her face in sharp strands, before curving upwards shorter and shorter until the back of her head, where her hair is cut in a close shave. She is known to, at random intervals, get fed up with the weight of her hair and shave it all off.


Shae uses every aspect of her body to her advantage and, whilst she is rarely seen without a hood-mask covering the lower half of her face, she presents her sharp, green eyes freely, as their piercing keenness has been known to throw off some opponents, sometimes long enough for Shae to dismantle their attack and escape. When bare-faced, Shae is seen to possess almost fox-like features with a tight face and a slightly upturned nose, and her strong jaw allows a subtle androgyny. Light dustings of freckles are scattered across her pale body, most prominently on both of her shoulders, and she possesses two tattoos, a small string of words written in a dead language around her right ankle, and two impaled arrows on the inner flesh of her left forearm.


Personality:

Quiet but very curious, Shae is friendly enough and can cooperate well with most others in the guild, should they be friendly themselves. However, if her teammate is particulary agressive or standoffish, Shae will lack the will to truly work with them, and this can lead to her ignoring their plans of attack, or even abandoning them all together if the job falls apart. This behaviour comes from a desire of self-preservation, where Shae seeks to simply survive and benefit herself, not out of any large amount of greed but instead from teachings instilled in her from a young age.

Bow and arrow, throwing knives, Shae also employs a small arsenal of smoke bombs as distraction and escape techniques

Bio:

Born into a dying Mother's arms on a dark and cold street on the cusp of winter, Shae was traded into a workhouse where she grew into a coy and guarded child, known and scolded for dirty hands and feet from attempting to dig an 'escape tunnel' from the workhouse and from climbing up the pipes and bricks to try jumping over the high walls that surrounded the workhouse. On one of the workhouses many 'open days' where lower Houses and Guilds would visit to appraise the array of children on display and assess their skills and worth for service, Shae sought to use the commotion of the crowd as a distraction so she could safely scale the walls and escape without notice. When she was discovered, the ease with which Shae delivered a bludgeoning projectile blow to a caretaker with a piece of roof tile from a fair distance, caught the attention of the Head of House Mag, a small but warm family weighed down with bad luck and unfortunate circumstances.

The Head of House Mag, a merchant with a fondness for the bow and arrow, brought Shae and set her to work in his houses' kitchen and, in an odd show of interest in a servant, began to teach Shae the basics of archery, having her accompany him and his two young sons on hunting trips, and gifting her with her first bow, a shabby piece of work that Shae dutifully kept clean none the less. Three years passed, and at the age of ten Shae had surpassed her master in the bow and made a point of expressing this, and her desire for further education, by climbing to the roof of the small manor House Mag resided in and shooting sparrows out of the sky every morning. However, fond as he was of Shae, the Head of House Mag could not afford to provide Shae with such education, as his business and house fell into deeper and deeper debt, to the point where bandits, hired by various debt collectors, were camped outside the manor. The stress and fear soon overwhelmed the Head of the house, and he was found one morning, body slumped across the damp bank of the pond in the manor gardens, his head beneath the murky surface of the water.

Ashamed by her Husbands suicide and fearful for her and her childrens safety, the Lady of House Mag quickly handed over the manor and most of their possessions to the bandits and debt collectors and, when it still hadn't covered the amount of debt, turned over the bulk of the house staff, including Shae, in addition. And so Shae found herself in the possession of bandits who made use of Shae's shooting skills, which they had spied when camped outside the manor, and had her catch birds, allowing her to keep her bow as she, along with other staff, were herded across the country to the Capital, to be sold in the market.

Eager to fetch a higher price, the bandits had Shae perform archery for the crowds in the market, her skill impressing one hidden figure in particular, a scout for the Thieves Guild. Returning in the early afternoon with several superiours, the scount pointed out the skill Shae had with the bow and persuaded her superiours to purchase the girl. After a short, concise meeting with the bandits, where coins were exchanged and maybe some daggers held to throats, Shae was brought into the Thieves Guild and given a newer, firmer bow that serves her well to this day.

It is in the Guild where she learned to master her skill, delivered into the charge of Olos the Bowmaster, from whom she learned a great deal in the art of projectile weaponry, and was moulded into a quiet, cunning but overall more approachable being under Olos' firm and wise tutelage. Within the Guild, Shae became known for her swift delivery and quick hands, and was soon branded with the insignia of her chosen weapon class, two arrows impaled into her flesh, one arrow for her past and one arrow for her future, as Shae looks to push herself higher and higher until she can soar alongside her arrows in the air.

Other info: I should also like to, if I can find the capability, to write Olos and his daughter, Lim, into the rp, however they'll only be minor characters and should only appear in relation to Shae, so they won't require a CS. Also feel free to decide for yourself how well known Olos is within the Guild, or if he can even be considered a Bowmaster.

Personality: The Doctor is witty and extremely humble, while this is true his craving for money can't be held set with the gold he gets from helping others.

Abilities and Specialties: The Doctor is a skilled alchemist, which benefits him and the guild heavily. He can burn the locks off of doors, soak a doorknob in a liquid that will cause whichever unlucky souls that touches it to bust out in an uncontrollable irritation of the skin. His knowledge of the science is vast, while he know many lethal combinations of the science, he tends to stick to non-lethal, for his own conscience sake. The Doctor has created a device, which takes many of its mechanisms from the crossbow. His creation achieves concealment, silence and range efficacy. The bow is loaded with needles and is loaded with a set of seven, each shots means he has to press a button located under the strap and it was load the next. These needles are thin and short, making them hard see, so once someone is hit with it and knocked out, the guards will takes days to find what caused it.
Bio: The Doctor is just that, a man who has dedicated his childhood and early teens to medicine. He hasn't taken up any heartfelt story of loss or revenge, he is a man who is set out for gold, the touch of it, its rarity and potency in his science Is so magnificent that he has stooped as low as stealing to achieve it, he often says after each heist. "I want it ALL"

EsmetheGreat: Freerunning won't be a skill for everyone. Some prefer the rooftops, some prefer alleyways, some prefer shadows, some may even prefer to hide in crowds and disguise. Just a matter of character.

Personality: Flint is a good follower, preferring others to plan what he does for him. He believes you should get what you need done and ask questions when the smoke clears, and doesn't mind breaking a few eggs to get what he wants.

Bio: Robb was orphaned at a very young age. He never knew his true parents, but instead had several parents as he went from orphanage to orphanage. He was always good at sneaking around at night to grab extra food, or find something to entertain himself. Once he reached the age of 16 he decided to live on his own, and he took to the streets. He adapted quickly and became quite skilled at taking what he needed to get by. The guild took him in at the age of 18, and in return he did jobs for them. He isn't in it for the money, but he certainly doesn't mind it. Robb is loyal to the guild as they are the closest thing he has to family. He will do almost anything for them except killing isn't his strong suit.

A rather sarcastic young vigilante, Connor Stark has a reputation as the most annoying thief within the kingdom. He has almost driven certain authority figures to the point of pure madness in interrogations, and even most of his fellow thieves would rather drive a stake through their foot before working with him. His sarcasm and general disliking toward others would lead him to be a difficult partner. He has a habit of talking and mumbling to himself during jobs, usually at the vital times of the mission when he's supposed to be quiet.

Connor Stark does not know, or remember much about his path. He prefers not to mention it. However, if you do press him and threaten him hard enough, he will weave a tail of thieves long past his generation, and apprenticeships, and great escapes. Connor Stark was born with larceny and greed running through his veins. His father was an old hand, a veteran thief who hadn't lost his taste for the sport. His father, Thomas Stark, had robbed quite a bit in his youth, but lost his strength and endurance over time, slowly becoming more and more detached. His mother was more on the innocent side. She fell in love with his father's roguishness and vigilantism, and married him. Connor was born in a small, wooden cottage, dustily carpeted, and an orange flame flickering nearby during a harsh winter's month. Unfortunately, his mother did not make it through the birth, but that did not unduly worry Connor Stark. For a long, several years, Connor Stark and Thomas Stark survived off of thievery. Thomas taught him the tools of the trade, the basics. How to pickpocket, how to sneak, how to stay quiet. Unfortunately, Connor always had a side in him that was restless and eager, who couldn't stay quiet or silent for the thief life.

Connor Stark and Thomas Stark had a relatively rough relationship, but it didn't stop them from being thieves together. Thomas taught Connor everything he knew, from the last pick pocketing strategy to how to quietly scale a wall. Connor listened.. most of the time. A fair chunk of it was him trying to spend his time being a real child, but Thomas insisted learning how to steal and cheat was important. Connor Stark was eventually left to fend for himself, at about thirteen years of age. It was a sour deal. The pair went to a fairly well guarded house, to give him some pointers about that kind of thing. Unfortunately, the king's guards were nearby. Connor would usually skim around this part, vaguely describing some details. His father had breathed his last breath. After Thomas passed, Connor was forced to steal alone, which was not a great time for him. A lone thief is a caught thief, and he was captured multiple times. Each time, he was strapped to a chair, his hands bound, and he was interrogated. Luckily, he picked up a couple of knacks from his father, and spent most of his time out of jail. Most of it, anyways. And so, Connor spent his time thieving. His heart grew more and more bitter, and he gained more of a taste for treasure and riches. Connor changed.

Abilities and Specialties: A brilliant tactician and skilled leader, able to call shots. In the field, he most prefers to handle the darker and dirtier jobs. As such, he chooses to specialize in assassination, as well as being the Guild leader.

Bio: Alekzander doesn't have any tearjerking events of times past. Quite simply, he had a normal childhood. Well, as normal as growing up in the city can get. He was exposed to thievery and larceny at a young age, and would develop a habit of sticky fingers. Eventually, he moved out of the family home and quickly found himself in an ideal place. The city's crime network. There, he was taken under the wing of the former Guildmaster of the Thieves, Roc. Roc taught him most of what he knows today. Though, Roc was old, and would pass away, leaving the sake of the Guild that nearly died with him to Alekzander, wanting him to fulfill his dream of the glory of a resurrected Guild of Thieves.

Suro is socially awkward and never knows what to say, if she were to say anything, and would much rather express her feelings through actions than words. Despite her initial shyness, she is responsible and reliable and always has her partner’s back.

Bio:

Suro was raised in a quiet home with her, her parents, and her younger brother. They were the only people she ever felt comfortable enough to talk to and they often told her she was rather loquacious. The family got along fine until one day, her brother got sick. The Shahn-Lee family was not the richest and could not afford the medicine needed for her precious younger brother and so he passed. His passing caused Suro to crawl deeper into her shell, but eventually her parents managed to reconnect her to the world. Her parents now live far away with their adopted son, Sunny, and much money to spend whilst Suro indulges in her expensive taste with stolen riches.

It's up to you, but I would prefer it be someone more aligned to the trade of being a fence. It's considered a form of merchant, though one that sells and buys illegal items. So, you want someone aligned to the merchant trade. Someone friendly and good with gold and silver. Gold meaning money, and silver meaning silver tongue, speechcraft.
