So. The purpose of this swordfight is to get some rust scrubbed off our up-close-and-personal combative skills. We'll be using high-end low tiered (tier 4) characters. Wanted, and the first Matrix movie could serve as a reference to the desired level of power. No firearms allowed. We will be focusing less on "cinematic combat" and more on killing our opponents, though I point out that we're doing it to improve. There's nothing at stake here.

Should a discussion arise, keep in mind that every problem has a solution, and we're all reasonable people here.

Characters; Keep it short, keep it simple. No backstory or personality is required, but any and all combat-related thing must be specified and agreed upon before the fight starts.

Rules; Standard rules apply. No powerplaying, no metagaming, and so on. Be decent towards one another.

That should about cover it..

I added weapons to what I sent you earlier, but otherwise it's the same sheet. I figured I'd try some tomahawks instead of a sword since I've never done it before (but have been wanting to for a while), but I can
switch back to a sword if no one else shows up.

said Name: David Smith (originally Schmidt).

Random Descriptors:
Race: Human (Caucasian)
Gender: Male
Age: Older than he looks.
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Brown

Physical Description:
Tall and deceptively thin, his physique is comprised of tightly packed muscles that grant him a level of strength that very often surprises his opponents, who are expecting to face a man reliant on speed and avoidance rather than one capable of delivering blows on par with the likes of heavyweight boxers. He keeps his dark hair cut short, usually no longer than a quarter of an inch, and tends to wear clothing that is tailored to both compliment and accentuate his tall and slender physique.

Personality Description:
No data available.

Abilities:
Willpower - More than once, he has been called the strongest man in the world, though not in the physical sense. Repeatedly demonstrating a profound ability to apply the theories of mind over matter in a very literal sense, he has come to be known by those familiar with him as a man possessing a truly indomitable will, capable of overcoming obstacles that would leave other men balking in disbelief at the sheer insanity of the attempt.
Hypercognition - David's brain is, for reasons unknown (though likely related to his possession of superhuman willpower), capable of absorbing and processing information on a subconscious level at speeds that surpass even the most powerful supercomputers. He can glance at a situation for an instant, and then correctly deduce the most likely outcomes based on a myriad of factors that most humans would fail to even notice, and indeed he himself is not consciously aware of noticing them. He can learn to speak a new language in days, perfectly mimic the movements of martial arts masters from simple observation, and discover a loophole through which to escape from nearly any trap. The instinctive nature of this ability renders it vulnerable to conscious override, and if he allows arrogance to get the better of him instead of trusting his instincts, its effectiveness can be reduced or eliminated almost completely.
Bend The Rules - Whether this is a side effect of his tremendous willpower or a separate ability altogether is unknown, but what is known is that he is capable of subtly and subconsciously bending the rules of reality in his own favor, making possible things that ordinary men could never hope to achieve and enabling him to match the feats of the peak humans of comic book lore. In addition to making him inherently lucky, it allows him to perform feats such as catching arrows mid-flight and sword blades between the palms of his hands, avoiding automatic and even well-aimed gunfire, punching holes in concrete, performing feats of accuracy and precision that can boggle the mind, and shrugging off wounds that would cripple or kill mortal men. It is this ability, combined with his immense willpower, that has kept him in his physical prime despite being well over one hundred years old.

Skills:
Martial Arts - He has spent a great deal of his life studying and training in martial arts techniques around the globe, and has subsequently developed a new style of fighting that is unique to himself, combining the traits he has found most effective from the various disciplines he's studied, both armed and unarmed, with his hypercognitive instincts to produce a style that can become nearly unbeatable if utilized to its fullest potential.
Firearms - Due to possessing an innate sense of spatial awareness and trigonometry, he is a phenomenal shot with every known firearm, having trained in the use of pistols, shotguns, rifles, and even self-propelled projectile launchers. His hypercognitive mind allows him to instinctively perform the calculations required for making very difficult or even otherwise impossible shots, such as deflecting a bullet off a surface to strike a target out of his direct line of sight or sniping a target from a kilometer away with perfect accuracy. Whether these feats are due entirely to his mind or also supplemented by his rule bending is unknown.

Weapons:
A pair of modern tomahawks

Since this is going to require a fairly short CS, im ready to shake off all my "talent" in procastination, and write one up today/tomorrrow. A warm up wont do me any bad, maybe i'll even gain enough steam to finish the NMV character i've got.

Name: Meats Ghol
Race: Demon possesed construct
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Height: 1.65 meters
Weight: 75 kg

Apperance: Meats is a purely aetheric being, his existance in the physical plane granted by an arcane substance that ties him to the form it is contained within. His body, in which the substance is encased, represents that of a human male in a set of armor similar to a samurai's, only tightly packed and with a sleek look to it - that, even despite it's overall brutish shape, the shoulders wide and body thick. Colored in a dark green, the only other colors are the silver of his smooth, polished oval mask and black of elbow and knee guards, boots, gloves, and stripes contouring seperate plates of his armor.

Abilities:

  • Artificial muscle:

  • Inside the shell of his armor is a replica of a human body, composed nigh enitrely of muscle, ableit of an inorganic origin. Woven by the truly masterful mages, while in direct contact with his aura, it's strands can connect to and conduct Meats' presence, allowing him to affect it with his magic. Putting even the best of warriors to shame, it can exert enough force for him to strike at a maximum speed of 200 MPH, lift up to 400 lb, and on top of that, he never tires, the electric current produced by magical means. Suprisingly, it is merely as durable as a a well-trained human's, showing little resistance to force and burning just as easily; his bones also do not differ.

  • Arcane liqud

  • As mentioned above, Meats is bound to his body by an arcane substance: a liquid, to be precise. His demonic nature is interwound with it's magical field, creating an aura anchored to the substance, through which he is present in the physical plane. 2 vials with it are sealed within the body, contained in steel spheres: one in the head, and another in his chest. While the liquid remains intact, few things can stop Meats, but draining both vials will send him back into the aether, rendering the demon's body helpless.

  • Bystander:

  • Inherently being deviod of it, Meats Ghol cannot feel pain, but remaining connected to the muscle of his body, as it is conducting his prescence, he can accurately percive the damage dealt. Having no ties to organs of vision as well, he percives the world with an omnidirectional view, though concentrating on a certain task or object still decreases his field of attention, meaning that he benefits from this ability only when focusing on it's use.

Equipment:

  • Iginbo

  • An intimidating weapon with a 10 cm wide and 1.5 meter long blade, it bears a certain similarity to a huge machete mounted on a longsword's handle. Forged to be more durable than sharp, it holds an edge worse than most, but compensates with wild speed (in the hands of Meats Ghol) and impresive cross-sectional density. 7 kg of weight make Iginbo a weapon easy to kill with, the sword exelling at both cutting and crushing as well.

  • Obsidian dagger

  • A brittle, yet painfuly sharp weapon, it is famed for the ease with which it bites into flesh. 15 cm long, and the base 2/3 of it's length, the blade is stiff and hard: this, and a perfectly smooth surface guarante the famed cutting ability by reducing the drag and making any oscillations experienced from impact minimal.

  • Armor

  • Most of the armor is light, only slightly restricting Meats' movement: composed of leather and cotton pads, it serves only to dampen the several first hits in a fight. But there is a heftier piece in his armor - two metal braces on his forearms allowing for blocking, and providing more momentum to his hits.

Skills:

  • Reflex slasher:

  • Showing a great amount of skill in combat, he nigh instinctively performs most attacks with deadly precision, even in the state of a mind numbing rage, which is in fact the most often emotion shown by Meats when fighting.

  • Bloodshed acrobat

  • Meats values the importance of movement in a battle, honing his footwork and gymnastics year by year, and now he perform both with lightning fast speed, no matter how complicated a feat some tricks may seem.

I would prefer a minimal amount of armor.

The purpose of this fight is to brush some rust of our high-end low tier close combat skills, so each blow hitting it´s mark should cause significant damage. Think of it as a gladiatorial match where the only thing standing between your opponent and your defeat, is the weapon in your hands.

Character name: Mordem Maare
Age: 26
Height: 5'8
Weight: 160 pounds
Body type: Lean

Appearance:
Mordem has jet black hair with a thick white streak shooting backwards from the root at the top of his forehead, the rest of his semi-short messy hair is sideways parted. His two brown eyes are surrounded by darkened, tired eyelids, signs of years of sleep deprivation and excessive pill popping. His skin is pale and lifeless, a faint remnant of redish hue adorn his cheeks, nose, and lips. A vein portrudes visibly on his forehead, and his cheeks reveals a slight amount of wrinkles around the mouth upon frowning.

He wears a black-striped white prisoners pants and sweater, with his hands and feet being left naked. His whole outfit is splattered with dried out blood, weeks old.

Abilities:

- Instrument of death; Rule of cool. Mordem has trained and studied extensively for most of his life to reach physical and mental perfection. He is well past the peak human condition. He has become an instrument of death, and he likes to show it. He has great aim, able to shoot the wings of a fly with his back turned to it. His close combat prowess is such that he´s able to take on several opponents with ease. His acrobatic skills are inspiring, parkouring near impossible angles and heights. All of this, while simultaneously reciting Shakespearean literature flawlessly, or even composing a three-act opera. He is, despite these amazing talents, at heart, still human, and so does not boast much durability other than that granted by his equipment. His strength is nothing to brag about, he could kick down a door, but that's about it. In combat, he relies heavily on mobility, and would quickly find himself in a heap of trouble if he started takings hits. Despite his superior skill, he is physically only human.

- Killer strain; Cognition: (Deactivated)
Through several generations of selective breeding and biological tampering; the raw killing instinct, the genetic code deciding the natural talent for ending the lives of others, a code that resided within each and every individual to varying degrees, was isolated and applied to a new generation of killers. Enabling access to a higher potential, a special abilities unique to each and every killer child. These enhancements were always utilitarian in nature. To Mordem, this manifested as a cognitive ability. Allowing him to perceive the future path of each and every living individual and objects that he could perceive, for a short moment ahead of time. He would know the exact moment they reached a point in their determined path, and be able to react accordingly. This also allows him to perceive the determined path of incoming bullets, and move out of their way, or move his weapon to deflect, before the gun even fires. Upon interacting with the determined paths of other living beings, everything shifts, and a new set of determined paths are created. This means that the longer an attack is prepared against him, the less likely it is to succeed. The key to getting past the cognition, is to be locked in combat with Mordem for extended periods, creating an endless amount of rapidly shifting paths, denying him sight of the path ahead.

(Game mechanic-wise; This works in the way that he can see what is going to, or was supposed to physically happen according to someone's post. When someone moves, makes an attack, destroys a wall, etc.The shifting of paths happens when someone is interrupted, and when his own actions changes the action of others, reactions. He can never see further ahead than what other people have posted. )

Gear:

Red:

This 30 inch long magical sword is an immovable object. If it's owner let's go of it's handle, it will be left indestructible and immovable in the exact position it was in when let go. When the handle is gripped and the sword wielded normally, or if it has been sheathed, it functions like a normal sword with above-average durability. It can only be wielded unsheathed by it's owner. The sheath itself is very durable.

Shiv (hidden; strapped to the inside of Mordem's left wrist):

This is a shiv. It is 10 inches long.

Let me know if the Cognition ability seems overpowered. It's highly experimental.

Edit: I'll just -not- use the cognitive ability in this fight. It kind of works against why I wanted to do this ;)

According to Crapton in the previous Multiverse, tier 1's have no outstanding traits or skills at all. So a tier 1 melee fight would essentially be the equivalent of a bunch of rednecks slugging it out in a bar. Not my idea of a test of skill.

And I think we'll wait for Khan to submit his character before getting started. Assuming it doesn't take too long.

Name: Zarkith Zackarian

Titles: Master of Arms

Age: 32

Alignment: True Neutral

Race: Human (Zackarian)

Class: Warrior

Height: 6'5

Weight: 247 Ib

Description: Towering at 6'5 Zarkith is a bear of a man, wide wide shoulders and thickly muscled arms. He possess dirty white hair he keeps cut short (white hair a distinct trait of his linage), with dark grey eyes that almost contrast with his ebony dark skin. His large frame is decorated with numerous battle scars. Keeping a warrior's pragmatism has caused him to keep his hair close-cropped to prevent foes from grabbing it during combat.

Personality: Zarkith is a man of action - brave, impulsive and straightforward. He is ambitious, and starves for greater power. He is an inspiring leader, leading his men by example, but always pushing them harder to the point they almost resent him for it. As a man of action, Zarkith is not given to idle chatter or threats; he does what he means to and means what he does. Ill-tempered the blood of the berserker runs strongly in his veins.

Abilities:

Breed for Perfection- Zarkith possesses incredible strength. He can shatter stone with little difficulty, and often overpowers opponents much larger than himself (300 pounds). His durability and stamina is potent as well, thanks to his mental and physical training.

Clan Zack Perfection- Although Zarkith's relies heavily on his great sword, with which he was extremely skilled; he also displays extraordinary physical capabilities. For one, his strength, and stamina are far beyond that of a normal person, to the extent that he can even parry arrows with his sword, with his abilities extending to apparently peak human. Thanks mostly to his fine breeding from his clan, Zarkith was born to reach peak human condition, and even for a Zackarian he is formidable, and possesses an enhanced sense of smell, as potent as a blood hounds, coupled with extraordinary hearing on par with an elephant. Finally Zarkith has the ability to accurately predict the movements of an enemy by observing their muscles, and thus react accordingly. It is assumed however, that this ability could be nullified if the enemy in question were to wear a pressurized suit.

Sword Master- Even by Clan Zachery's expectations Zarkith possess preternatural skills with a blade. Zarkith is able to demonstrate a natural aptitude for the ways of the sword. He is able to wield a sword with great proficiency in, power, and skill, allowing him to perform feats such as stopping and deflecting bolts, decimate large objects, and skillfully cutting through hard materials such as ice. He is also able to operate with little effort, delivering skillful strikes to weak points with great precision. He is also an accomplished hand-to-hand fighter, using his greater strength to his advantage.

Red Mist- Those within the Clan of Zack possess the curse (or blessing) of the 'blood rage', red mist, or more commonly known as the power of the Berserker. After two turns of prep, in order to enter into the right mind frame, Zarkith can fly into a rage-his muscles bulging, speed and strength doubling along with his own resilience. Feared throughout the realms as nightmarishly violent warriors, the Zackarian are both aided and hampared by the legendary "Red Mist".

In the grip of this madness, born from the clan’s pact with their accursed blade, Zarkith becomes seemingly invincible, but is simply merely totally unresponsive to pain. Within the grips of "Red Mist" Zarkith will fight regardless of injury level, to the extent that a user void of all four limbs continue gnashing past brain death until total somatic death. The curse of the Red Mist causes fear or rage shifts from the mental control from the frontal lobes, responsible for reasoning, to the limbic system, responsible for aggression and survival. During that shift, Zackarian and humans exhibit diminished capacity for logic and self-control. In such a state Zarkith relies competently on his natural warrior instinct breed into him from birth. Once it wears off however, (three post), Zarkith becomes extremely exhausted, becoming half as strong and much slower prior the rage, the give and take of Red Mist leaves it as a tool that must be used with great care.

Warrior Instinct- Zarkith's training mentally allows his mind and heightened senses process information at such speeds that time appears to have slowed down to him, allowing him mere moments to perceive what would normally be moving too fast to see and respond accordingly. The ability only last for a limited period of time and thus leaves a small window for him to react, and is useless if he does not know of the coming attack. While the senses and mind can follow the attacks, however, his body may not be able to act in time to do anything about it.
Equipment:

Splitter- He wields a magical great-sword simply called Splitter. Splitter is capable of penetrating nearly any material, thought it needs a great amount of momentum to do so, and it is capable of dispelling magic with a successful hit. Zarkith likes to attend to his sword, having convinced himself that the sword (though not sentient) appreciates it. The hilt and pommel appears in black, with edgings of silver along the guard.

It has the overall length of 76.9 inches (6' feet and 4 inches) and weighing roughly 13.0 pounds (5 kg) with a blade width and thickness of 7/32".

A large sword but don't let its size fool you, as there is nothing awkward or clumsy about this potent sword. Sure its big and meant to be carried over the shoulder in its scabbard, but it’s extremely well balanced and easily wielded by people of larger stature and physical strength. To protect the hands from opposing weapons, it features a large guard with side rings plus integral parrying hooks that allow the blade to be shortened for close range slashing and stabbing attacks. The handle is made of hardened wood and covered with leather and is extra-long to afford a full two handed grip. Whats more, its capped by a heavy steel pommel that helps counter balance its long blade and serves as an effective weapon in its own right. The Two Handed Great Sword, Splitter is sturdy, and strong.

Armor- Zarkith wears a black dyed duergar made vambraces, unlike normal full armor which can be cumbersome, enough-so to slow any warrior down a bit. This duergar made infantry armour offers a solution to that issue too an extent at the cost of protection, though, by equipping a warrior with plenty of core protection, while leaving the legs free to move, and forgoing a helm. The legs possessing simple leather and cloth with little real protection. The armor combines numerous pieces of protection, including pauldrons, and cannons, which ensures that Zarkith's shoulders and upper extremities are all kept safe from harm. Each piece is crafted from 18 gauge reinforced steel, which ensures hardy strength, enough so to withstand the rigors of combat. The pauldrons connect to the armor by leather straps and buckles. The included 'cannons' are, themselves, a combination of a rerebrace, couter, and vambrace, ensuring that the upper and lower arm, as well as the elbow, is kept completely safe. The two final touches come in the form of the tassets, belted onto the front of the breastplate.

Short Sword- Zarkith also employs a wickedly sharp, enchanted short sword at his belt for use for close encounters. The sword is approximately 29.25 Inches in overall length.
