I'd argue that Soul eater is equally as weird honestly. Just say the plot out loud:

'Weapons, that are actually people, are wielded by school children, who are trained by Death, to defeat people who are trying to become monsters and become strong by eating their souls'

A school where all the girls turn into assault rifles of different types, and have personalities like the firearm they can turn into, and they physically and mentally scar their teacher in different ways when he shows up on his first day.

as far as I'm aware, Logan probably could use a meister, and unless kikiri pairs up with Reagan, she needs a weapon

Hey Unlucky and Kit, why don't Logan be partnered up with the Weapon Char that Kit's making, and before you say it Weapons can wield other weapons, don't know about Resonating or anything, but I do know it would be unique.

I saw that, so I think I'm good. Also I just want to say that I fully understand Soul Eater's plot, and think it's actually pretty logical if you think about it from the universe it's part of. Does that mean I'm weird?
