As this is a Yu-Gi-Oh! RP, there will be dueling, but there will also be plot outside of just dueling in a tournament (yes it has a tournament)
I do not expect to just do the tournament, and will most likely continue beyond that.

OK ENOUGH SINGLE, BORING ASS SENTENCES, LETS GET TO SOME REAL SHIT.

A BUNCH OF AWNSERED QUESTIONS:

How will we be dueling?
The duels will be typed out, rather than using a dueling program, but if 2 people decide to duel using a dueling program, they can.

Can people who know nothing about this Yu-Gi-Majiger join the RP
You must have at least a basic knowledge of the rules and regulations of the game to join, just look at the last question.

PENDULUMS?
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybeeeeeeeeeee

can we make up our own cards?
You will be providing a description of those cards, and I will be verifying their non-brokenness, but yes,

what is the plot
I dont have one yet, depends on the dueling style we go for.

OK NOW I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU ALL.
If you now feel like joining this RP, which I rushed the idea for at 2:30 AM, just tell me if the dueling style out of the following you would like to see in the majority of the RP:

Action Duels:
This is a relatively knew thing brought up in Arc-V, but is relatively fun and interesting, allowing for more mid-duel RPing options.
Basically, at the beginning of the duel, and random field spell is played, and the duel begins, this field and all monsters (and presumably continuous spells/traps, based on the card) become tangible. The players can actually ride their monsters, and look around the arena for Action cards, these are either spells or traps, and could be good or bad. Action spells are added to the hand and can be used like quick-play spells (but from the hand), while Action traps activate automatically.
Problems with this- it is really easy for the player to give themselves a ton of Action cards, but hopefully we can negate this using the counter trap card "Honor System"

Turbo Duel: I dont know a lot about these since 5D's sucked ass. At the start of the duel, the Speed world, or Speed world 2 field spell is activated. While Speed world is activated, the duelist can turn the Duel runner (Motorcycle outfitted for dueling) to autopilot, while on Speed world 2, this is impossible (THE WIKI SAYS IT, NOT ME)
During either players standby phase, a speed counter is placed on to the Speed world field spell (both players have a separate set of counters, and gain 1 during EVERY standby phase). if you take damage, for every multiple of 1000 dmg you take, you lose 1 speed counter on speed world, but not speed world 2.
You cannot activate normal spell cards in a turbo duel. There are no Equip or continuous Speed-spells.
Speed-spells will require you to have a prerequisite number of speed counters and/or remove a number of speed counters to activate them.
Speed counters effect the actual speed of the duel runner.

Normal duel: you know this, 2 people, 1 duel field, normal rules, 1 epic pro as fuck duel.

WHAZ DU U WAN?

I personally like Action duels, as they don't really restrict anything other than field spells, and add to the Role Playing in the middle of a duel

I played one of these once. One guy was trying to move the plot forward, and the person he was trying to speak with told him to duel me, and then I won. Or though, my Warrior Deck was rocking.

I now see I was either drunk, high, or way too tired while writing that.

Drunk high and tired are where some of the best RPs ever have come from.

Depending on how many people join and what kinds of decks they use, I may be interested. I hate seeing competitive (read: completely broken) decks in fun RP duels.

My deck isn't completely broken. It gets it's ass kicked a lot, but it is a pretty good one.

Yeah I'll probably have to weaken the Lightsworn deck I wanna use to make things work right for this. Mostly because the only real drawbacks ti a Lightsworn deck is the weakness of the monsters and the possibility of decking out.

Well, IVIasterJay knows firsthand how easily my Iswarm deck can shut down a deck that focuses heavily on special summoning. The only other deck I have that's actually pretty good is the deck I use in real life, and that's a Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck. It special summons powerful monsters like crazy and can apparently go head to head with popular builds like Chaos Dragons, Dark World, and Constellars. At least, that's the impression I get whenever I test it against the decks that come with the Android AI in the YGOPro app. Might not be accurate though, but that's that.

You've got that app too? Yeah if y'all are okay with it I'd love to use my Lightsworn deck.

If you do end up using Lightsworns, I've got the perfect theme that would fit them, especially for whenever Judgement Dragon or Michael hit the field.

And yeah, I've got Android's YGOPro app. Probably the best app out there, but that's an opinion coming from a guy who loves Yu-Gi-Oh xD! Aside from just giving me a way to kill time in a fun way, it's really helped me experiment with and work on my decks. I have four decks I can run successfully: Steelswarms, Iswarms (combo of Steelswarms and Evilswarms), Ghostricks, and Blue-Eyes White Dragon (which is my irl deck).

Anyway, I'd still like to use my Iswarm deck, and hopefully with a character whose personality actually matches the deck.

Yeah I fully agree on the app being a great way to test and build deck while on the move I've currently got a Lightsworn, A Blackwing, and im working on a Photon/Galaxy deck and a Syllable/Utopia deck.

Remember, don't be thinking full legit decks, cuz i will be banning stuff like Darkworld, number cards, and any other cards that are shown in the anime/manga as a staple card of a character/ there is only one of said card.

So gods, the magician pendulums/odd eyes, beelze, and other junk.
Blue-eyes and such monsters are fine, they aren't OP, and they are classics. I can't ban the classics.

I will be putting a character sheet in the First post, so anyone that wants to set up a char/deck, they can start it here.
anyone have any vote on the dueling style?

I'd rather stick to the normal dueling style, but I wouldn't mind having Turbo Duels in. I actually kind of liked the gimmick along with 5Ds. Yes, I actually like 5Ds, and I regard it as the last true Yugioh series before they went all CARD GAEMZ FROM SPACE GAIZ on us. And Arc-V? Just watching the opening made me cringe....

Anyway.... yeah, I'd say to mostly stick with Normal Style, but have Turbo Duels for anyone wanting something a bit different.

Would my Iswarm deck be okay then?

The game which taught me everything about Yugioh and dueling was a 5Ds DS game, Reverse of Arcadia to be exact. It followed the Dark Signer arc, and man was that shit badass. It's certainly different from the older generations, but it stays true to the concept of Shadow Duels, Ancient Games, all that jazz.
